⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me; but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

²¹ But the Philistines took hold of him and put out his eyes and brought him down to Gaza and bound him with fetters of iron that he should grind in the prison house. ²² ¶ And the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven. ²³ Then the cardinals of the Philistines gathered themselves together to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god and to rejoice, for they said, Our god has delivered Samson our enemy into our hands. ²⁴ And when the people saw him, they praised their god, for they said, Our god has delivered our enemy into our hands, the destroyer of our country, who slew many of us. ²⁵ And it came to pass when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson that he may make us laugh. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport, and they set him between the pillars. ²⁶ And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Bring me near and let me feel the pillars upon which the house stands that I may lean upon them. ²⁷ Now the house was full of men and women; and all the cardinals of the Philistines were there, and upon the roof there were about three thousand men and women that beheld while Samson was mocked. ²⁸ Then Samson called unto the LORD and said, O Lord GOD, remember me now and strengthen me now only this once, O God, that I may take vengeance at once of the Philistines for my two eyes. ²⁹ Then Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood and on which it was borne up, and leaned upon them, on the one with his right hand and on the other with his left. ³⁰ And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he pushed with all his might, and the house fell upon the cardinals and upon all the people that were in it. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than those which he slew in his life.

⁵ that the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

¹² ¶ And Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those that sold and bought in the temple and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those that sold doves ¹³ and said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. ¹⁴ And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. ¹⁵ But when the princes of the priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were sore displeased

²³ ¶ And when he was come into the temple, the princes of the priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?

⁴⁵ And as the princes of the priests and Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them. ⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude because they held him as a prophet.

³⁷ And in the daytime he was teaching in the temple, and at night he went out and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. ³⁸ And all the people came unto him early in the morning to hear him in the temple.

²⁵ Then one of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill? ²⁶ But, behold, he speaks boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Have the rulers truly understood that this is indeed the Christ?

³⁰ Then they sought to take him, but no one laid hands on him because his hour was not yet come.

⁴⁵ ¶ Then the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees came, and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

²⁷ ¶ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour, but for this have I come in this hour.

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk much with you, for the prince of this world comes and has nothing in me.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no one shall take your joy from you.

¹⁸ to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by the faith that is in me.

³ But if our gospel is hid, it is hid to those that are lost, ⁴ In whom the god of this age has blinded the understanding of those who do not believe, that the light of the gospel of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine in them. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your slaves for Jesus’ sake. ⁶ For the God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to bring forth the light of the knowledge of the clarity of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the lords of this age, rulers of this darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavens.

¹³ who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son,

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, who is called Devil and the Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation and virtue and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. ¹² ¶ Therefore, rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time.
