²² But the fruit of the Spirit is this: Charity, joy, peace, tolerance, gentleness, goodness, faith,

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

¹⁴ They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be vigorous and flourishing

⁸ ¶ Ephraim shall then say, What have I to do any more with idols? I will hear him and gaze upon him; I will be unto him like a green fir tree; of me shall thy fruit be found.

¹⁶ Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? ¹⁷ Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. ²⁰ So that by their fruits ye shall know them.

³³ Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit.

¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns are those who when they have heard go forth and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection. ¹⁵ But that on the good ground are those who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience.

⁹ and if it bears fruit, well; and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

² Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he shall take away; and every one that bears fruit, he shall purge that they may bring forth more fruit.

⁵ I AM the vine, ye are the branches: he that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it unto you.

¹ ¶ Justified therefore by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, ² by whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and glory in hope of the glory of the sons of God. ³ And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience; ⁴ and patience, experience; and experience, hope; ⁵ and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

²² But now freed from sin and made slaves to God, ye have as your fruit sanctification and as the end, everlasting life.

⁴ Likewise ye also, my brethren, are become dead to the law in the body of the Christ that ye should belong to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation, abhorring that which is evil, causing you to come unto that which is good; ¹⁰ loving one another with brotherly love, with honour preferring one another; ¹¹ not slothful in earnest care, but fervent in the Spirit, serving the Lord, ¹² rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, constant in prayer, ¹³ sharing for the needs of the saints, and given to hospitality. ¹⁴ Bless those who persecute you: bless, and do not curse. ¹⁵ Rejoice with those that rejoice and weep with those that weep. ¹⁶ Be unanimous among yourselves, not high minded, but accommodating the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. ¹⁷ Not repaying anyone evil for evil; procuring that which is good not only in the sight of God, but even in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If it can be done, as much as is possible on your part, live in peace with all men.

³ For the Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of those that reproached thee fell on me.

¹⁴ ¶ But I am convinced regarding you, my brethren, that even without my exhortation ye are full of charity, full of all knowledge, so as to be able to admonish one another.

⁴ ¶ Charity suffers long and is benign; charity envies not; charity does nothing without due reason, is not puffed up, ⁵ is not injurious, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, ⁶ rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¹³ And now abide faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

¹³ ¶ For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only do not use liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by charity serve one another.

¹⁶ This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other, so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. ¹⁸ But if ye are led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

²³ and be renewed in the spirit of your understanding

⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

¹¹ being filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice. ⁵ Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is near. ⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, exercise yourselves in these things. ⁹ Those things, which ye have both learned and received and heard and seen in me, do, and the God of peace shall be with you.

¹⁰ that ye might walk worthy of the Lord, pleasing him in everything, being fruitful in every good work, and growing in the knowledge of God,

¹² ¶ Clothed, therefore, (as the elect of God, holy and beloved) with bowels of mercies, with kindness, with humility, with meekness, with tolerance, ¹³ forbearing one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a quarrel against another: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. ¹⁴ And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfection. ¹⁵ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, into which likewise ye are called into one body, and be ye thankful. ¹⁶ Let the word of the Christ dwell in you in abundance in all wisdom, teaching you and exhorting you one to another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with grace singing in your hearts unto the Lord. ¹⁷ And whatever ye do whether in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the God and Father by him.

³ remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, ⁴ being certain, beloved brethren, that you are chosen of God. ⁵ For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. ⁶ ¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit: ⁷ So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia. ⁸ For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything. ⁹ For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God ¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from the heavens, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, who delivered us from the wrath to come.

¹⁰ who died for us, that whether we watch or sleep, we should live together with him. ¹¹ ¶ Therefore comfort and edify one another, even as ye do. ¹² And we beseech you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you ¹³ and that you express greater charity unto them for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves. ¹⁴ We also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone. ¹⁵ See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men. ¹⁶ ¶ Always rejoice. ¹⁷ Pray without ceasing. ¹⁸ In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. ¹⁹ Quench not the Spirit. ²⁰ Despise not prophecies. ²¹ Examine all things; retain that which is good. ²² Separate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

² And that we may be delivered from perverse and wicked men, for the faith is not of everyone.

¹¹ The wives likewise are to be honest, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

¹² Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the faithful in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

² that the aged men be temperate, venerable, prudent, sound in faith, in charity, in tolerance. ³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of honesty; ⁴ that they may teach the young women to be prudent, to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ to be temperate, chaste, good housekeepers, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God not be blasphemed. ⁶ Young men likewise exhort to be temperate; ⁷ in all things showing thyself as an example of good works, in doctrine showing integrity, seriousness, purity, ⁸ sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that the adversary may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. ⁹ Exhort slaves to be subject to their own masters and to please them well in all things; not contradicting; ¹⁰ not defrauding, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. ¹¹ ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live temperately, righteously, and godly in this present world;

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, modest, benevolent, full of mercy and of good fruits, not judgmental, unfeigned. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace unto those that make peace.

⁸ whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though at present ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory;

²² Having purified your souls in the obedience of the truth, by the Spirit, in unfeigned brotherly love, love one another with a pure heart fervently,

¹² By Silvanus, a faithful brother; (according to my reckoning), I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand.

⁵ ¶ Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; ⁷ and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. ⁸ For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁷ ¶ Beloved, let us love one another, for charity is of God. Anyone that loves is born of God and knows God. ⁸ He that does not love does not know God, for God is charity. ⁹ In this was the charity of God demonstrated in us, in that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this does the charity consist, not because we had loved God, but because he loved us and has sent his Son to be the reconciliation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. ¹² No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and his charity is completed in us. ¹³ In this we know that we abide in him, and he in us, in that he has given us of his Spirit. ¹⁴ ¶ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. ¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and believed the charity that God has in us. God is charity, and he that abides in charity abides in God, and God in him.
