² until the day in which, having given commandments by the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen, he was received on high;

² And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD, ³ and shall make him of quick olfaction in the fear of the LORD; and he shall not judge according to the sight of his eyes, neither reprove according to the hearing of his ears:

¹ ¶ Behold my slave, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he shall give judgment unto the Gentiles.

¹⁶ ¶ Come near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was done, I was there: and now the LORD God has sent me and his Spirit.

²⁰ And the Redeemer shall come to Zion and unto those that turn from the rebellion in Jacob, said the LORD. ²¹ And this shall be my covenant with them, said the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words, which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from now on and for ever.

¹ ¶ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me because the LORD has anointed me; he has sent me to preach good tidings unto those who are cast down; to bind up the wounds of the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those that are bound;

¹⁶ And Jesus, after he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and, behold, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon him;

¹ ¶ Then calling his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of weakness. ² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: the first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee and John his brother; ³ Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; ⁴ Simon the Canaanite and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

²⁸ But if I cast out the demons by the Spirit of God, then certainly the kingdom of God is come unto you.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, behold, I am with you always even unto the end of the age. Amen.

¹⁴ And he established twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach ¹⁵ and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out devils: ¹⁶ Simon, whom he gave the name Peter; ¹⁷ and James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, whom he surnamed them Boanerges, which is The sons of thunder; ¹⁸ and Andrew and Philip and Bartholomew and Matthew and Thomas and James the son of Alphaeus and Thaddaeus and Simon the Canaanite ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him; and they came home.

³⁰ ¶ And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus and told him everything they had done and what they had taught.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ¹⁶ He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believes not shall be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs shall follow those that believe: In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they shall take away serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands upon the sick, and they shall be healed. ¹⁹ ¶ So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God.

¹³ And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples; and of them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles: ¹⁴ Simon (whom he also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, ¹⁵ Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon called Zelotes ¹⁶ and Judas the brother of James and Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor.

⁵¹ ¶ And it came to pass when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem

⁴⁵ Then he opened their understanding that they might understand the scriptures ⁴⁶ and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day; ⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things. ⁴⁹ And, behold, I shall send the promise of my Father upon you, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye are endued with power from on high.

⁵¹ And it came to pass while he blessed them, he was parted from them and carried up into heaven.

¹⁶ And of his fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

³⁴ For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God does not give the Spirit by measure unto him.

⁶² What if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

¹ ¶ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

³ Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands and that he had come from God and was going to God,

¹⁸ ¶ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen; but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me,

²⁸ ¶ I came forth from the Father and am come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.

¹³ And now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

¹⁷ Jesus said unto her, Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be unto you; as my Father has sent me, even so send I you.

⁹ And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

¹¹ who also said, Ye men of Galilee, what do ye stand gazing at up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

¹³ And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where Peter and James and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James were.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

⁴⁰ This same one God raised up the third day and showed him openly, ⁴¹ not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. ⁴² And he commanded us to preach unto the people and to testify that it is he who is ordained of God to be the Judge of living and dead.

¹ ¶ Paul, apostle (not from men neither through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead)

²⁰ and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone,

⁸ Therefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men. ⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all the heavens, that he might fulfill all things.)

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

¹⁹ which we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters even into that which is within the veil, ²⁰ where our precursor, Jesus, has entered for us and is made high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

²⁴ For Christ is not entered into the sanctuary made with hands (which is a figure of the true), but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us,

²² who is at the right hand of God, having ascended into heaven, unto whom the angels and the authorities and powers are subject.

² that ye keep in memory the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of our commandment, that we are apostles of the Lord and Saviour,

¹ ¶ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his slaves things which are convenient to do quickly, and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his slave John,

⁷ He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

¹¹ He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; He that overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

¹⁷ He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a small white stone and in the stone a new name written, which no one knows except the one that receives it.
