¹ ¶ And it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel.

⁹ Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not, ¹⁰ and come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are free to do all these abominations?

²⁶ Her priests have violated my law by force and have profaned my holy things; they have made no difference between the holy and the profane, neither have they showed the difference between the unclean and the clean and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

⁹ The people shall become like the priest; and I will visit his ways upon him, and they shall reward him according to his doings. ¹⁰ For they shall eat and not be satisfied; they shall commit whoredom and shall not increase because they have quit showing hospitality unto the LORD. ¹¹ Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
