¹⁷ And if you turn your heart so that you hear not; and be driven to prostrate to other elohim and to serve them; ¹⁸ I tell you this day, that in destructing, you destruct; and that you not prolong your days on the soil you pass over Yarden to go to possess. ¹⁹ I call the heavens and earth to witness this day against you, that I give at your face life and death, blessing and abasement: choose life, so that both you and your seed live:

¹⁷ and I kindle my wrath against them in that day and I forsake them and I hide my face from them: and they become devoured and many evils and tribulations find them; so that they say in that day, Come not these evils upon us, because our Elohim is not among us? ¹⁸ - and in hiding, I hide my face in that day for all the evils they work, in that they turn to the face of other elohim.

Behold, surely it works falsehood; the false stylus of the scribes works falsehood. ⁹ The wise shame: they are dismayed and captured: behold, they spurn the word of Yah Veh; and what wisdom is in them? ¹⁰ So I give their women to others and their fields to their successors: for every one from the least even to the greatest greedily gains to greedy gain - from the prophet even to the priest - every one works falsely.
