³ For I wished myself to be an anathema from Christ, for my brethren: who are my kinsmen according to the flesh:

¹⁴ He answered: Thou art my bone and my flesh. And after the days of one month were expired,

³² Or if thou do not, strike me out of the book that thou hast written.

²³ His body shall not remain upon the tree, but shall be buried the same day: for he is accursed of God that hangeth on a tree: and thou shalt not defile thy land, which the Lord thy God shall give thee in possession.

¹⁷ And let this city be an anathema, and all things that are in it, to the Lord. Let only Rahab, the harlot, live, with all that are with her in the house: for she hid the messengers whom we sent. ¹⁸ But beware ye lest you touch ought of those things that are forbidden, and you be guilty of transgression, and all the camp of Israel be under sin, and be troubled.

²⁴ And the men of Israel were joined together that day: and Saul adjured the people, saying: Cursed be the man that shall eat food till evening, till I be revenged of my enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

⁴⁴ And Saul said: May God do so and so to me, and add still more: for dying thou shalt die, O Jonathan.

⁶ For how can I endure the murdering and slaughter of my people?

²³ And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. ²⁴ And when he had seen one of them suffer wrong, he defended him: and striking the Egyptian, he avenged him who suffered the injury. ²⁵ And he thought that his brethren understood that God by his hand would save them. But they understood it not. ²⁶ And the day following, he shewed himself to them when they were at strife and would have reconciled them in peace, saying: Men, ye are brethren. Why hurt you one another?

²⁶ Men, brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you fear God: to you the word of this salvation is sent.

¹ I say then: Hath God cast away his people? God forbid! For I also am an Israelite of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

¹⁴ If, by any means, I may provoke to emulation them who are my flesh and may save some of them.

³ Wherefore, I give you to understand that no man, speaking by the Spirit of God, saith Anathema to Jesus. And no man can say The Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost.

²² If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha.

⁸ But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written: Cursed is every one that abideth, not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

¹³ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us (for it is written: Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree).
