¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercy of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing unto God, your reasonable service.

^{14 (19:15)} And the words of my mouth shall be such as may please: and the meditation of my heart always in thy sight. O Lord, my helper and my Redeemer.

¹³ Shall I eat the flesh of bullocks? or shall I drink the blood of goats? ¹⁴ Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High.

^{30 (69:31)} I will praise the name of God with a canticle: and I will magnify him with praise. ^{31 (69:32)} And it shall please God better than a young calf, that bringeth forth horns and hoofs.

¹² What shall I render to the Lord, for all the things that he hath rendered to me?

⁷ I will bring them into my holy mount, and will make them joyful in my house of prayer: their holocausts, and their victims shall please me upon my altar: for my house shall be called the house of prayer, for all nations.

²⁰ To what purpose do you bring me frankincense from Saba, and the sweet smelling cane from a far country? your holocausts are not acceptable, nor are your sacrifices pleasing to me.

^{2 (14:3)} Take with you words, and return to the Lord, and say to him: Take away all iniquity, and receive the good: and we will render the calves of our lips.

⁴⁷ Wherefore, I say to thee: Many sins are forgiven her, because she hath loved much. But to whom less is forgiven, he loveth less.

⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and patience and longsuffering? Knowest thou not that the benignity of God leadeth thee to penance?

¹³ Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin: but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead; and your members as instruments of justice unto God.

¹⁶ Know you not that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death or of obedience unto justice.

¹⁹ I speak an human thing, because of the infirmity of your flesh. For as you have yielded your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity, unto iniquity: so now yield your members to serve justice, unto sanctification.

²³ That he might shew the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy which he hath prepared unto glory?

³⁰ For as you also in times past did not believe God, but now have obtained mercy, through their unbelief: ³¹ So these also now have not believed, for your mercy, that they also may obtain mercy.

² And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God.

¹⁶ That I should be the minister of Christ Jesus among the Gentiles: sanctifying the gospel of God, that the oblation of the Gentiles may be made acceptable and sanctified in the Holy Ghost.

³⁰ I beseech you therefore, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ and by the charity of the Holy Ghost, that you help me in your prayers for me to God,

¹⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no schisms among you: but that you be perfect in the same mind and in the same judgment.

⁷ Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed. ⁸ Therefore, let us feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

¹³ Meat for the belly and the belly for the meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord: and the Lord for the body. ¹⁴ Now God hath raised up the Lord and will raise us up also by his power. ¹⁵ Know you not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid! ¹⁶ Or know you not that he who is joined to a harlot is made one body? For they shall be, saith he, two in one flesh. ¹⁷ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. ¹⁸ Fly fornication. Every sin that a man doth is without the body: but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. ¹⁹ Or know you not that your members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, who is in you, whom you have from God: and you are not your own? ²⁰ For you are bought with a great price. Glorify and bear God in your body.

¹ Therefore seeing we have this ministration, according as we have obtained mercy, we faint not.

¹⁶ For which cause we faint not: but though our outward man is corrupted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

¹⁴ For the charity of Christ presseth us: judging this, that if one died for all, then all were dead. ¹⁵ And Christ died for all: that they also who live may not now live to themselves, but unto him who died for them and rose again.

²⁰ For Christ therefore we are ambassadors, God as it were exhorting by us, for Christ, we beseech you, be reconciled to God.

¹ And we helping do exhort you that you receive not the grace of God in vain.

¹ Now I Paul, myself beseech you, by the mildness and modesty of Christ: who in presence indeed am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you.

⁴ But God (who is rich in mercy) for his exceeding charity wherewith he loved us ⁵ Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ (by whose grace you are saved) ⁶ And hath raised us up together and hath made us sit together in the heavenly places, through Christ Jesus. ⁷ That he might shew in the ages to come the abundant riches of his grace, in his bounty towards us in Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God. ⁹ Not of works, that no man may glory. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them.

¹ I therefore, a prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation in which you are called:

¹⁰ Proving what is well pleasing to God.

²⁰ According to my expectation and hope; that in nothing I shall be confounded: but with all confidence, as always, so now also, shall Christ be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.

¹ If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of charity, if any society of the spirit, if any bowels of commiseration: ² Fulfil ye my joy, that you be of one mind, having the same charity, being of one accord, agreeing in sentiment. ³ Let nothing be done through contention: neither by vain glory. But in humility, let each esteem others better than themselves: ⁴ Each one not considering the things that are his own, but those that are other men's. ⁵ For let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

¹⁷ Yea, and if I be made a victim upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and congratulate with you all.

¹⁸ But I have all and abound: I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things you sent, an odour of sweetness, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

¹ For the rest therefore, brethren, pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus that, as you have received from us, how you ought to walk and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more.

¹⁰ For indeed you do it towards all the brethren in all Macedonia. But we entreat you, brethren, that you abound more:

¹² And we beseech you, brethren, to know them who labour among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you;

³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,

⁴ But if any widow have children or grandchildren, let her learn first to govern her own house and to make a return of duty to her parents; for this is acceptable before God.

⁴ But when the goodness and kindness of God our Saviour appeared: ⁵ Not by the works of justice which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us, by the laver of regeneration and renovation of the Holy Ghost. ⁶ Whom he hath poured forth upon us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour: ⁷ That, being justified by his grace, we may be heirs according to hope of life everlasting. ⁸ It is a faithful saying. And these things I will have thee affirm constantly, that they who believe in God may be careful to excel in good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

²⁰ A new and living way which he hath dedicated for us through the veil, that is to say, his flesh: ²¹ And a high priest over the house of God: ²² Let us draw near with a true heart, in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with clean water.

¹⁵ By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise always to God, that is to say, the fruit of lips confessing to his name. ¹⁶ And do not forget to do good and to impart: for by such sacrifices God's favour is obtained.

²² And I beseech you, brethren, that you suffer this word of consolation. For I have written to you in a few words.

⁵ Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ Who in times past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy: but now have obtained mercy. ¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech you, as strangers and pilgrims, to refrain yourselves from carnal desires which war against the soul, ¹² Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation.

²⁰ For what glory is it, if, committing sin and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently: this is thankworthy before God.
