⁵ For thou art my patience, O Lord: my hope, O Lord, from my youth.

⁵ For thou, O Lord, art sweet and mild: and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon thee.

¹⁵ And thou, O Lord, art a God of compassion, and merciful, patient, and of much mercy, and true.

⁹ The house of Israel hath hoped in the Lord: he is their helper and their protector. ¹⁰ The house of Aaron hath hoped in the Lord: he is their helper and their protector. ¹¹ They that fear the Lord have hoped in the Lord: he is their helper and their protector. ¹² The Lord hath been mindful of us, and hath blessed us. He hath blessed the house of Israel: he hath blessed the house of Aaron. ¹³ He hath blessed all that fear the Lord, both little and great.

⁴ For with thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of thy law, I have waited for thee, O Lord. My soul hath relied on his word:

¹ A gradual canticle of David. Lord, my heart is not exalted: nor are my eyes lofty. Neither have I walked in great matters, nor in wonderful things above me.

³ Let Israel hope in the Lord, from henceforth now and for ever.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unjust man his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God: for he is bountiful to forgive.

¹² And I will leave in the midst of thee a poor and needy people: and they shall hope in the name of the Lord.

²⁰ Now the law entered in that sin might abound. And where sin abounded, grace did more abound. ²¹ That as sin hath reigned to death: so also grace might reign by justice unto life everlasting, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁴ For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he hope for?

⁷ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his, grace, ⁸ Which hath superabounded in us, in all wisdom and prudence,

⁵ For there is one God: and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus: ⁶ Who gave himself a redemption for all, a testimony in due times.

³⁵ Do not therefore lose your confidence which hath a great reward.

¹ My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just. ² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

⁹ And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book and to open the seals thereof: because thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation:
