³ It is an honour for a man to separate himself from quarrels: but all fools are meddling with reproaches.

⁹ And Joas, king of Israel, sent again to Amasias, king of Juda, saying: A thistle of Libanus sent to a cedar tree, which is in Libanus, saying: Give thy daughter to my son to wife. And the beasts of the forest, that are in Libanus, passed, and trod down the thistle.

¹⁷ The impatient man shall work folly: and the crafty man is hateful.

²⁹ He that is patient, is governed with much wisdom: but he that is impatient, exalteth his folly.

³² The patient man is better than the valiant: and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh cities.

¹⁴ The beginning of quarrels is as when one letteth out water: and before he suffereth reproach, he forsaketh judgment.

⁶ The lips of a fool intermeddle with strife: and his mouth provoketh quarrels.

¹¹ The learning of a man is known by patience: and his glory is to pass over wrongs.

²⁴ The proud and the arrogant is called ignorant, who in anger worketh pride.

⁸ The things which thy eyes have seen, utter not hastily in a quarrel: lest afterward thou mayst not be able to make amends, when thou hast dishonoured thy friend. ⁹ Treat thy cause with thy friend, and discover not the secret to a stranger: ¹⁰ Lest he insult over thee, when he hath heard it, and cease not to upbraid thee. Grace and friendship deliver a man: keep these for thyself, lest thou fall under reproach.

⁶ Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us, in his beloved son. ⁷ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his, grace, ⁸ Which hath superabounded in us, in all wisdom and prudence,

³² And be ye kind one to another: merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ.

¹⁴ But if you have bitter zeal, and there be contention in your hearts: glory not and be not liars against the truth.

¹ From whence are wars and contentions among you? Are they not hence, from your concupiscences, which war in your members?
