²⁹ For unto you it is given for Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him:

¹¹ Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake: ¹² Be glad and rejoice for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

¹² But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name. ¹³ Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

⁴⁴ No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him. And I will raise him up in the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets: And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard of the Father and hath learned cometh forth me.

⁴¹ And they indeed went from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were accounted worthy to suffer reproach for the name of Jesus.

³⁹ In him every one that believeth is justified.

² My brethren, count it all joy, when you shall fall into divers temptations:

¹⁷ Every best gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change nor shadow of alteration. ¹⁸ For of his own will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of his creature.

¹³ But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
