¹² And they by the way side are they that hear: then the devil cometh and taketh the word out of their heart, lest believing they should be saved.

²⁴ Because I called, and you refused: I stretched out my hand, and there was none that regarded. ²⁵ You have despised all my counsel, and have neglected my reprehensions. ²⁶ I also will laugh in your destruction, and will mock when that shall come to you which you feared.

²⁹ Because they have hated instruction, and received not the fear of the Lord,

⁵ Get wisdom, get prudence: forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth.

¹¹ And you, that have forsaken the Lord, that have forgotten my holy mount, that set a table for fortune, and offer libations upon it,

¹⁹ When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side.

¹⁵ And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown, and as soon as they have heard, immediately Satan cometh and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

⁵ The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side. And it was trodden down: and the fowls of the air devoured it.

⁹ Whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power and signs and lying wonders: ¹⁰ And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish: because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ^{11 (2:10)} Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying: ^{12 (2:11)} That all may be judged who have not believed the truth but have consented to iniquity. ^{13 (2:12)} But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of God, for that God hath chosen you firstfruits unto salvation, in sanctification of the spirit and faith of the truth: ^{14 (2:13)} Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²³ For if a man be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass. ²⁴ For he beheld himself and went his way and presently forgot what manner of man he was.

⁹ And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduceth the whole world. And he was cast unto the earth: and his angels were thrown down with him.
