⁴⁵ Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.

¹¹ The Lord said to him: Who made man's mouth? or who made the dumb and the deaf, the seeing and the blind? did not I?

¹⁶ Then he openeth the ears of men, and teaching instructeth them in what they are to learn.

¹⁸ Open thou my eyes: and I will consider the wondrous things of thy law.

¹⁰ For the Lord hath mingled for you the spirit of a deep sleep, he will shut up your eyes, he will cover your prophets and princes, that see visions. ¹¹ And the vision of all shall be unto you as the words of a book that is sealed which when they shall deliver to one that is learned, they shall say: Read this: and he shall answer: I cannot, for it is sealed. ¹² And the book shall be given to one that knoweth no letters, and it shall be said to him: Read: and he shall answer: I know no letters.

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and out of darkness and obscurity the eyes of the blind shall see. ¹⁹ And the meek shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

³² And they said one to the other: Was not our heart burning within us, whilst he spoke in the way and opened to us the scriptures?

¹⁴ And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, did hear: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to those things which were said by Paul.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, that they may be converted from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a lot among the saints, by the faith that is in me.

And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. ¹⁸ But we all, beholding the glory of the Lord with open face, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord.

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Jesus Christ our Lord: and ourselves your servants through Jesus. ⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Christ Jesus.

¹⁴ Wherefore he saith: Rise, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead: and Christ shall enlighten thee.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God is come. And he hath given us understanding that we may know the true God and may be in his true Son. This is the true God and life eternal.

⁷ And to the angel of the church of Philadelphia write: These things saith the Holy One and the true one, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth and no man shutteth, shutteth and no man openeth:
