⁴⁴ And he said to them: These are the words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms, concerning me.

¹⁵ I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall cursh thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.

¹⁸ But Melchisedech, the king of Salem, bringing forth bread and wine, for he was the priest of the most high God,

He shall offer a calf for sin, and a ram for a holocaust. ⁴ He shall be vested with a linen tunick: he shall cover his nakedness with linen breeches: he shall be girded with a linen girdle, and he shall put a linen mitre upon his head. For these are holy vestments: all which he shall put on, after he is washed. ⁵ And he shall receive from the whole multitude of the children of Israel two buck goats for sin, and one ram for a holocaust. ⁶ And when he hath offered the cattle and prayed for himself and for his own house: ⁷ He shall make the two buck goats to stand before the Lord in the door of the tabernacle of the testimony. ⁸ And casting lots upon them both, one to be offered to the Lord, and the other to be the emissary goat: ⁹ That whose lot fell to be offered to the Lord, he shall offer for sin. ¹⁰ But that whose lot was to be the emissary goat, he shall present before the Lord, that he may pour prayers upon him, and let him go into the wilderness. ¹¹ After these things are duly celebrated, he shall offer the calf: and praying for himself and for his own house, he shall immolate it. ¹² And taking the censer, which he hath filled with the burning coals of the altar, and taking up with his hands the compounded perfume for incense, he shall go in within the veil into the holy place: ¹³ That when the perfumes are put upon the fire, the cloud and vapour thereof may cover the oracle, which is over the testimony, and he may not die. ¹⁴ He shall take also of the blood of the calf, and sprinkle with his finger seven times towards the propitiatory to the east. ¹⁵ And when he hath killed the buck goat for the sin of the people, he shall carry in the blood thereof within the veil, as he was commanded to do with the blood of the calf, that he may sprinkle it over against the oracle: ¹⁶ And may expiate the sanctuary from the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and from their transgressions, and all their sins. According to this rite shall he do to the tabernacle of the testimony, which is fixed among them in the midst of the filth of their habitation. ¹⁷ Let no man be in the tabernacle when the high priest goeth into the sanctuary, to pray for himself and his house, and for the whole congregation of Israel, until he come out. ¹⁸ And when he is come out to the altar that is before the Lord, let him pray for himself: and taking the blood of the calf, and of the buck goat, let him pour it upon the horns thereof round about. ¹⁹ And sprinkling with his finger seven times, let him expiate, and sanctify it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

⁸ And the Lord said to him: Make a brazen serpent, and set it up for a sign: whosoever being struck shall look on it, shall live.

²⁵ The innocent shall be delivered from the hand of the revenger, and shall be brought back by sentence into the city, to which he had fled, and he shall abide there until the death of the high priest, that is anointed with the holy oil.

¹⁵ The Lord thy God will raise up to thee a PROPHET of thy nation and of thy brethren like unto me: him thou shalt hear: ¹⁶ As thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the assembly was gathered together, and saidst: Let me not hear any more the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see any more this exceeding great fire, lest I die. ¹⁷ And the Lord said to me: They have spoken all things well. ¹⁸ I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee: and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. ¹⁹ And he that will not hear his words, which he shall speak in my name, I will be the revenger.

¹ Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things? ² The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord, and against his Christ. ³ Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us. ⁴ He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them. ⁵ Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his rage. ⁶ But I am appointed king by him over Sion, his holy mountain, preaching his commandment. ⁷ The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee. ⁸ Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession. ⁹ Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel. ¹⁰ And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth. ¹¹ Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling. ¹² Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way. ^(2:13) When his wrath shall be kindled in a short time, blessed are all they that trust in him.

⁹ Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover, my flesh also shall rest in hope. ¹⁰ Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt thou give thy holy one to see corruption. ¹¹ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.

⁶ For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.

¹⁶ Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will lay a stone in the foundations of Sion, a tried stone, a corner stone, a precious stone, founded in the foundation. He that believeth, let him not hasten.

¹ Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God. ² Speak ye to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her: for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven: she hath received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins. ³ The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God. ⁴ Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain. ⁵ And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see, that the mouth of the Lord hath spoken. ⁶ The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the field. ⁷ The grass is withered, and the flower is fallen, because the spirit of the Lord hath blown upon it. Indeed the people is grass: ⁸ The grass is withered, and the flower is fallen: but the word of our Lord endureth for ever. ⁹ Get thee up upon a high mountain, thou that bringest good tidings to Sion: lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest good tidings to Jerusalem: lift it up, fear not. Say to the cities of Juda: Behold your God: ¹⁰ Behold the Lord God shall come with strength, and his arm shall rule: Behold his reward is with him and his work is before him. ¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.

¹ Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. ² He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad. ³ The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench, he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. ⁴ He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth, and the islands shall wait for his law.

¹ Give ear, ye islands, and hearken, ye people from afar. The Lord hath called me from the womb, from the bowels of my mother he hath been mindful of my name. ² And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword: in the shadow of his hand he hath protected me, and hath made me as a chosen arrow: in his quiver he hath hidden me. ³ And he said to me: Thou art my servant Israel, for in thee will I glory. ⁴ And I said: I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength without cause and in vain: therefore my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God. ⁵ And now saith the Lord, that formed me from the womb to be his servant, that I may bring back Jacob unto him, and Israel will not be gathered together: and I am glorified in the eyes of the Lord, and my God is made my strength. ⁶ And he said: It is a small thing that thou shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to convert the dregs of Israel. ² Because I came, and there was not a man: I called, and there was none that would hear. Is my hand shortened and become little, that I cannot redeem? or is there no strength in me to deliver? Behold at my rebuke I will make the sea a desert, I will turn the rivers into dry land: the fishes shall rot for want of water, and shall die for thirst. ³ I will clothe the heavens with darkness, and will make sackcloth their covering. ⁴ The Lord hath given me a learned tongue, that I should know how to uphold by word him that is weary: he wakeneth in the morning, in the morning he wakeneth my ear, that I may hear him as a master. ⁵ The Lord God hath opened my ear, and I do not resist: I have not gone back. ⁶ I have given my body to the strikers, and my cheeks to them that plucked them: I have not turned away my face from them that rebuked me, and spit upon me.

¹³ Behold my servant shall understand, he shall be exalted, and extolled, and shall be exceeding high.

¹ The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me: he hath sent me to preach to the meek, to heal the contrite of heart, and to preach a release to the captives, and deliverance to them that are shut up. ² To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God: to comfort all that mourn: ³ To appoint to the mourners of Sion, and to give them a crown for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, a garment of praise for the spirit of grief: and they shall be called in it the mighty ones of justice, the planting of the Lord to glorify him.

⁵ Behold the days come, saith the Lord, and I will raise up to David a just branch: and a king shall reign, and shall be wise: and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

¹⁴ Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform the good word that I have spoken to the house of Israel, and to the house of Juda.

²² Thus saith the Lord God: I myself will take of the marrow of the high cedar, and will set it: I will crop off a tender twig from the top of the branches thereof, and I will plant it on a mountain high and eminent.

²³ And I WILL SET UP ONE SHEPHERD OVER THEM, and he shall feed them, even my servant David: he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

⁴⁴ But in the days of those kingdoms, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never by destroyed, and his kingdom shall not be delivered up to another people: and it shall break in pieces, and shall consume all these kingdoms: and itself shall stand for ever.

¹³ I beheld, therefore, in the vision of the night, and lo, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and he came even to the ancient of days: and they presented him before him.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are shortened upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, that transgression may be finished, and sin may have an end, and iniquity may be abolished; and everlasting justice may be brought; and vision and prophecy may be fulfilled; and the Saint of saints may be anointed. ²⁵ Know thou, therefore, and take notice: that from the going forth of the word, to build up Jerusalem again, unto Christ, the prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: and the street shall be built again, and the walls, in straitness of times. ²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Christ shall be slain: and the people that shall deny him shall not be his. And a people, with their leader, that shall come, shall destroy the city, and the sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be waste, and after the end of the war the appointed desolation. ²⁷ And he shall confirm the covenant with many, in one week: and in the half of the week the victim and the sacrifice shall fail: and there shall be in the temple the abomination of desolation: and the desolation shall continue even to the consummation, and to the end.

⁷ And I will have mercy on the house of Juda, and I will save them by the Lord, their God: and I will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, nor by horses, nor by horsemen. ⁸ And she weaned her that was called Without mercy. And she conceived, and bore a son. ⁹ And he said: Call his name, Not my people: for you are not my people, and I will not be yours. ¹⁰ And the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, that is without measure, and shall not be numbered. And it shall be in the place where it shall be said to them: You are not my people: it shall be said to them: Ye are the sons of the living God. ¹¹ And the children of Juda, and the children of Israel, shall be gathered together: and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall come up out of the land: for great is the day of Jezrahel.

⁵ And after this the children of Israel shall return and shall seek the Lord, their God, and David, their king: and they shall fear the Lord, and his goodness, in the last days.

²⁸ And it shall come to pass after this, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy: your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. ²⁹ Moreover, upon my servants and handmaids in those days I will pour forth my spirit. ³⁰ And I will shew wonders in heaven; and in earth, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke. ³¹ The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood: before the great and dreadful day of the Lord doth come. ³² And it shall come to pass, that every one that shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved: for in Mount Sion, and in Jerusalem shall be salvation, as the Lord hath said, and in the residue whom the Lord shall call.

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, that is fallen: and I will close up the breaches of the walls thereof, and repair what was fallen: and I will rebuild it as in the days of old.

¹ Now shalt thou be laid waste, O daughter of the robber: they have laid siege against us, with a rod shall they strike the cheek of the judge of Israel. ² And thou Bethlehem Ephrata, art a little one among the thousands of Juda, out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be the ruler in Israel: and his going forth is from the beginning, from the days of eternity. ³ Therefore will he give them up even till the time wherein she that travaileth shall bring forth: and the remnant of his brethren shall be converted to the children of Israel. ⁴ And he shall stand, and feed in the strength of the Lord, in the height of the name of the Lord, his God: and they shall be converted, for now shall he be magnified even to the ends of the earth.

^{7 (2:8)} And I will move all nations: AND THE DESIRED OF ALL NATIONS SHALL COME: and I will fill this house with glory: saith the Lord of hosts. ^{8 (2:9)} The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts. ^{9 (2:10)} Great shall be the glory of this last house more than of the first, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place I will give peace, saith the Lord of hosts.

¹² And thou shalt speak to him, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: BEHOLD A MAN, THE ORIENT IS HIS NAME: and under him shall he spring up, a shall build a temple to the Lord.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and saviour: he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt, the foal of an ass.

⁸ And I cut off three shepherds in one month, and my soul was straitened in their regard: for their soul also varied in my regard. ⁹ And I said: I will not feed you: that which dieth, let it die: and that which is cut off, let it be cut off: and let the rest devour every one the flesh of his neighbour. ¹⁰ And I took my rod that was called Beauty, and I cut it asunder to make void my covenant, which I had made with all people. ¹¹ And it was made void in that day: and so the poor of the flock that keep for me, understood that it is the word of the Lord. ¹² And I said to them: If it be good in your eyes, bring hither my wages: and if not, be quiet. And they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver. ¹³ And the Lord said to me: Cast it to the statuary, a handsome price, that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and I cast them into the house of the Lord to the statuary.

¹⁰ And I will pour out upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace, and of prayers: and they shall look upon me, whom they have pierced: and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for an only son, and they shall grieve over him, as the manner is to grieve for the death of the firstborn.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that cleaveth to me, saith the Lord of hosts: strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn my hand to the little ones.

⁴ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is over against Jerusalem towards the east: and the mount of Olives shall be divided in the midst thereof to the east, and to the west with a very great opening, and half of the mountain shall be separated to the north, and half thereof to the south.

¹ Behold I send my angel, and he shall prepare the way before my face. And presently the Lord, whom you seek, and the angel of the testament, whom you desire, shall come to his temple. Behold, he cometh, saith the Lord of hosts. ² And who shall be able to think of the day of his coming? and who shall stand to see him? for he is like a refining fire, and like thc fuller's herb: ³ And he shall sit refining and cleansing the silver, and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and shall refine them as gold, and as silver, and they shall offer sacrifices to the Lord in justice.

² But unto you that fear my name, the Sun of justice shall arise, and health in his wings: and you shall go forth, and shall leap like calves of the herd. ³ And you shall tread down the wicked when they shall be ashes under the sole of your feet in the day that I do this, saith the Lord of hosts. ⁴ Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, the precepts, and judgments. ⁵ Behold, I will send you Elias the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. ⁶ And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers: lest I come, and strike the earth with anathema.

²¹ From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the ancients and scribes and chief priests, and be put to death, and the third day rise again.

^{22 (17:21)} And when they abode together in Galilee, Jesus said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ^{23 (17:22)} And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again. And they were troubled exceedingly.

¹⁸ Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes: and they shall condemn him to death. ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified: and the third day he shall rise again.

⁵⁴ How then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that so it must be done?

⁵⁶ Now all this was done that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then the disciples, all leaving him, fled.

³¹ And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the ancients and by the high priests and the scribes: and be killed and after three days rise again. ³² And he spoke the word openly. And Peter taking him began to rebuke him.

^{31 (9:30)} And he taught his disciples and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.

³³ Saying: Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes and ancients. And they shall condemn him to death and shall deliver him to the Gentiles. ³⁴ And they shall mock him and spit on him and scourge him and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

²² Saying: The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the ancients and chief priests and scribes and be killed and the third day rise again.

⁴⁴ And all were astonished at the mighty power of God. But while all wondered at all the things he did, he said to his disciples: Lay you up in your hearts these words, for it shall come to pass that the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

³¹ Then Jesus took unto him the twelve and said to them: Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and all things shall be accomplished which were written by the prophets concerning the Son of man. ³² For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles and shall be mocked and scourged and spit upon. ³³ And after they have scourged him, they will put him to death. And the third day he shall rise again. ³⁴ And they understood none of these things, and this word was hid from them: and they understood not the things that were said.

²² For these are the days of vengeance, that all things may be fulfilled, that are written.

³⁷ For I say to you that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me. And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end.

⁶ He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spoke unto you, when he was yet in Galilee, ⁷ Saying: The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and the third day rise again.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and so, to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures the things that were concerning him.

⁴⁶ And he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer and to rise again from the dead, the third day:

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up:

³⁹ Search the scriptures: for you think in them to have life everlasting. And the same are they that give testimony of me.

⁴⁶ For if you did believe Moses, you would perhaps believe me also: for he wrote of me.

⁴ But these things I have told you, that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them. ⁵ But I told you not these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou?

¹⁶ A little while, and now you shall not see me: and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father. ¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said one to another: What is this that he saith to us: A little while, and you shall not see me: and again a little while, and you shall see me, and, Because I go to the Father?

¹¹ And now I am not in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name whom thou hast given me: that they may be one, as we also are. ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in thy name. Those whom thou gavest me have I kept: and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition: that the scripture may be fulfilled. ¹³ And now I come to thee: and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy filled in themselves.

²⁴ They said then one to another: Let us not cut it but let us cast lots for it, whose it shall be; that the scripture might be fulfilled, saying: They have parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture they have cast lots. And the soldiers indeed did these things. ²⁵ Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen. ²⁶ When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. ²⁷ After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own. ²⁸ Afterwards, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said: I thirst. ²⁹ Now there was a vessel set there, full of vinegar. And they, putting a sponge full of vinegar about hyssop, put it to his mouth. ³⁰ Jesus therefore, when he had taken the vinegar, said: It is consummated. And bowing his head, he gave up the ghost. ³¹ Then the Jews (because it was the parasceve), that the bodies might not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day (for that was a great sabbath day), besought Pilate that their legs might be broken: and that they might be taken away. ³² The soldiers therefore came: and they broke the legs of the first, and of the other that was crucified with him. ³³ But after they were come to Jesus, when they saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. ³⁴ But one of the soldiers with a spear opened his side: and immediately there came out blood and water. ³⁵ And he that saw it hath given testimony: and his testimony is true. And he knoweth that he saith true: that you also may believe. ³⁶ For these things were done that the scripture might be fulfilled: You shall not break a bone of him. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith: They shall look on him whom they pierced.

¹⁸ But those things which God before had shewed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

²² For Moses said: A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me: him you shall hear according to all things whatsoever he shall speak to you. ²³ And it shall be, that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people. ²⁴ And all the prophets, from Samuel and afterwards, who have spoken, have told of these days.

³⁷ This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel: A prophet shall God raise up to you of your own brethren, as myself. Him shall you hear.

²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, taking him down from the tree, they laid him in a sepulchre. ³⁰ But God raised him up from the dead the third day. ³¹ Who was seen for many days by them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who to this present are his witnesses to the people.

³³ This same God hath fulfilled to our children, raising up Jesus, as in the second psalm also is written: Thou art my Son: this day have I begotten thee.

² And Paul, according to his custom, went in unto them. And for three sabbath days he reasoned with them out of the scriptures: ³ Declaring and insinuating that the Christ was to suffer and to rise again from the dead; and that this is Jesus Christ, whom I preach to you.

³ For I delivered unto you first of all, which I also received: how that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures: ⁴ And that he was buried: and that he rose again according to the scriptures:

⁵ And Moses indeed was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be said:

¹ For this Melchisedech was king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him:

⁸ The Holy Ghost signifying this: That the way into the Holies was not yet made manifest, whilst the former tabernacle was yet standing.

¹ For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, not the very image of the things, by the selfsame sacrifices which they offer continually every year, can never make the comers thereunto perfect.

¹¹ Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did signify, when it foretold those sufferings that are in Christ and the glories that should follow.

¹⁰ And I fell down before his feet, to adore him. And he saith to me: See thou do it not. I am thy fellow servant and of thy brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Adore God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
