¹² And the younger of them said to his father: Father, give me the portion of substance that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his substance.

¹⁶ And he meaneth to divide his substance among his sons: he may not make the son of the beloved the firstborn, and prefer him before the son of the hated. ¹⁷ But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, and shall give him a double portion of all he hath: for this is the first of his children, and to him are due the first birthrights.

⁵ The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me. ⁶ The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me.

¹⁴ From the enemies of thy hand. O Lord, divide them from the few of the earth in their life: their belly is filled from thy hidden stores. They are full of children: and they have left to their little ones the rest of their substance.

⁴⁴ For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want cast in all she had, even her whole living.

³⁰ But as soon as this thy son is come, who hath devoured his substance with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
