¹ Then therefore Pilate took Jesus and scourged him.

³ The wicked have wrought upon my back: they have lengthened their iniquity.

⁶ I have given my body to the strikers, and my cheeks to them that plucked them: I have not turned away my face from them that rebuked me, and spit upon me.

⁵ But he was wounded for our iniquities, he was bruised for our sins: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his bruises we are healed.

¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified: and the third day he shall rise again.

³⁴ Therefore behold I send to you prophets and wise men and scribes: and some of them you will put to death and crucify: and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city.

²⁶ Then he released to them Barabbas: and having scourged Jesus, delivered him unto them to be crucified. ²⁷ Then the soldiers of the governor, taking Jesus into the hall, gathered together unto him the whole band. ²⁸ And stripping him, they put a scarlet cloak about him. ²⁹ And platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand. And bowing the knee before him, they mocked him, saying: Hail, King of the Jews. ³⁰ And spitting upon him, they took the reed and struck his head. ³¹ And after they had mocked him, they took off the cloak from him and put on him his own garments and led him away to crucify him.

³³ Saying: Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes and ancients. And they shall condemn him to death and shall deliver him to the Gentiles. ³⁴ And they shall mock him and spit on him and scourge him and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

¹⁵ And so Pilate being willing to satisfy the people, released to them Barabbas: and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. ¹⁶ And the soldiers led him away into the court of the palace: and they called together the whole band. ¹⁷ And they clothed him with purple: and, platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon him. ¹⁸ And they began to salute him: Hail, king of the Jews. ¹⁹ And they struck his head with a reed: and they did spit on him. And bowing their knees, they adored him. ²⁰ And after they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him and put his own garments on him: and they led him out to crucify him.

³³ And after they have scourged him, they will put him to death. And the third day he shall rise again.

¹⁶ I will chastise him therefore and release him.

²³ But they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And their voices prevailed.

²² And the people ran together against them: and the magistrates, rending off their clothes, commanded them to be beaten with rods. ²³ And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the gaoler to keep them diligently.

²⁴ The tribune commanded him to be brought into the castle, and that he should be scourged and tortured: to know for what cause they did so cry out against him. ²⁵ And when they had bound him with thongs, Paul saith to the centurion that stood by him: Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman and uncondemned?

²⁴ Of the Jews five times did I receive forty stripes save one.

³⁶ And others had trial of mockeries and stripes: moreover also of bands and prisons.

²⁴ Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.
