⁵ But I told you not these things from the beginning, because I was with you. And now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me: Whither goest thou?

³³ Jesus therefore said to them: Yet a little while I am with you: and then I go to him that sent me.

³ Knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands and that he came from God and goeth to God,

³⁶ Simon Peter saith to him: Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered: Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now: but thou shalt follow hereafter.

⁴ And whither I go you know: and the way you know. ⁵ Thomas saith to him: Lord, we know not whither thou goest. And how can we know the way? ⁶ Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

²⁸ You have heard that I said to you: I go away, and I come unto you. If you loved me you would indeed be glad, because I go to the Father: for the Father is greater than I.

¹⁰ And of justice: because I go to the Father: and you shall see me no longer.

¹⁶ A little while, and now you shall not see me: and again a little while, and you shall see me: because I go to the Father.

²⁸ I came forth from the Father and am come into the world: again I leave the world and I go to the Father.

⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

¹³ And now I come to thee: and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy filled in themselves.

⁷ But to every one of us is given grace, according to the measure of the giving of Christ. ⁸ Wherefore he saith: Ascending on high, he led captivity captive: he gave gifts to men. ⁹ Now that he ascended, what is it, but because he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended above all the heavens: that he might fill all things. ¹¹ And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and other some evangelists, and other some pastors and doctors:

³ Who being the brightness of his glory and the figure of his substance and upholding all things by the word of his power, making purgation of sins, sitteth on the right hand of the majesty on high:

² Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who, having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God.
