¹⁴ What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him?

⁸ Behold you put your trust in lying words, which shall not profit you:

²⁰ For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²¹ Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²² Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? ²³ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

²⁶ And every one that heareth these my words and doth them not, shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand, ²⁷ And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall thereof.

⁴⁹ But he that heareth and doth not is like to a man building his house upon the earth without a foundation: against which the stream beat vehemently. And immediately it fell: and the ruin of that house was great.

¹³ Then Simon himself believed also and, being baptized, he adhered to Philip. And being astonished, wondered to see the signs and exceeding great miracles which were done.

²¹ Thou hast no part nor lot in this matter. For thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

⁹ And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

²⁵ Circumcision profiteth indeed, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

² And if I should have prophecy and should know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. ³ And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

² By which also you are saved, if you hold fast after what manner I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain.

²² If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by Charity.

¹³ For you, brethren, have been called unto liberty. Only make not liberty an occasion to the flesh: but by charity of the spirit serve one another.

⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God. ⁹ Not of works, that no man may glory. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them.

³ Being mindful of the work of your faith and labour and charity: and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father.

⁵ Now the end of the commandment is charity from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and an unfeigned faith.

⁸ For bodily exercise is profitable to little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

¹⁶ They profess that they know God: but in their works they deny him: being abominable and incredulous and to every good work reprobate.

⁸ It is a faithful saying. And these things I will have thee affirm constantly, that they who believe in God may be careful to excel in good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

⁷ By faith Noe, having received an answer concerning those things which as yet were not seen, moved with fear, framed the ark for the saving of his house: by the which he condemned the world and was instituted heir of the justice which is by faith. ⁸ By faith he that is called Abraham obeyed to go out into a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing whither he went.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

⁹ Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. For it is best that the heart be established with grace, not with meats: which have not profited those that walk in them.

²² But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ For if a man be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass. ²⁴ For he beheld himself and went his way and presently forgot what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But he that hath looked into the perfect law of liberty and hath continued therein, not becoming a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work: this man shall be blessed in his deed.

¹⁶ And one of you say to them: Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; yet give them not those things that are necessary for the body, what shall it profit?

¹⁸ But some man will say: Thou hast faith, and I have works. Shew me thy faith without works; and I will shew thee, by works, my faith.

²⁶ For even as the body without the spirit is dead: so also faith without works is dead.

⁵ And you, employing all care, minister in your faith, virtue: And in virtue, knowledge:

⁴ For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world. And this is the victory which overcameth the world: Our faith. ⁵ Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
