¹⁷ Wherefore, become not unwise: but understanding what is the will of God.

⁶ And you shall observe, and fulfil them in practice. For this is your wisdom, and understanding in the sight of nations, that hearing all these precepts, they may say: Behold a wise and understanding people, a great nation.

⁹ Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart, to judge thy people, and discern between good and evil. For who shall be able to judge this people, thy people, which is so numerous? ¹⁰ And the word was pleasing to the Lord, that Solomon had asked such a thing. ¹¹ And the Lord said to Solomon: Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life nor riches, nor the lives of thy enemies, but hast asked for thyself wisdom to discern jndgment; ¹² Behold I have done for thee according to thy words, and have given thee a wise and understanding heart, in so much that there hath been no one like thee before thee, nor shall arise after thee.

²⁸ And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.

¹⁰ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. A good understanding to all that do it: his praise continueth for ever and ever.

²⁷ Make me to understand the way of thy justifications: and I shall be exercised in thy wondrous works.

⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and shalt find the knowledge of God:

⁸ The wisdom of a discreet man is to understand his way: and the imprudence of fools erreth.

²³ Buy truth, and do not sell wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

²² For my foolish people have not known me: they are foolish and senseless children: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

¹⁷ If any man will do the will of him, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

² And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God.

¹⁵ See therefore, brethren, how you walk circumspectly: not as unwise,

⁹ Therefore we also, from the day that we heard it, cease not to pray for you and to beg that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding:

⁵ Walk with wisdom towards them that are without, redeeming the time.

¹ For the rest therefore, brethren, pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus that, as you have received from us, how you ought to walk and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more. ² For you know what precepts I have given to you by the Lord Jesus. ³ For this is the will of God, your sanctification: That you should abstain from fornication:

¹⁸ In all things give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all.

² That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men but according to the will of God.
