³ The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee, and gather thee again out of all the nations, into which he scattered thee before.

¹ In the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremias might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of the Persians: and he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and in writing also, saying: ² Thus saith Cyrus king of the Persians: The Lord the God of heaven hath given to me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judea. ³ Who is there among you of all his people? His God be with him. Let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judea, and build the house of the Lord the God of Israel: he is the God that is in Jerusalem. ⁴ And let all the rest in all places wheresoever they dwell, help him every man from his place, with silver and gold, and goods, and cattle, besides that which they offer freely to the temple of God, which is in Jerusalem.

⁴⁵ And he was mindful of his covenant: and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. ⁴⁶ And he gave them unto mercies, in the sight of all those that had made them captives. ⁴⁷ Save us, O Lord, our God: and gather us from among the nations: That we may give thanks to thy holy name, and may glory in thy praise.

¹ A gradual canticle. When the Lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted. ² Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them. ³ The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful. ⁴ Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.

² The Lord buildeth up Jerusalem: he will gather together the dispersed of Israel.

⁸ The Lord God, who gathereth the scattered of Israel, saith: I will still gather unto him his congregation.

¹⁴ And I will be found by you, saith the Lord: and I will bring back your captivity, and I will gather you out of all nations, and from all the places to which I have driven you out, saith the Lord: and I will bring you back from the place to which I caused you to be carried away captive.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the islands that are afar off, and say: He that scattered Israel will gather him: and he will keep him as the shepherd doth his flock.

³⁷ Behold I will gather them together out of all the lands to which I have cast them out in my anger, and in my wrath, and in my great indignation: and I will bring them again into this place, and will cause them to dwell securely. ³⁸ And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. ³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me all days: and that it may be well with them, and with their children after them. ⁴⁰ And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, and will not cease to do them good: and I will give my fear in their heart, that they may not revolt from me. ⁴¹ And I will rejoice over them, when I shall do them good: and I will plant them in this land in truth, with my whole heart, and with all my soul. ⁴² For thus saith the Lord: As I have brought upon this people all this great evil: so will I bring upon them all the good that I now speak to them. ⁴³ And fields shall be purchased in this land: whereof you say that it is desolate, because there remaineth neither man nor beast, and it is given into the hands of the Chaldeans. ⁴⁴ Fields shall be bought for money, and deeds shall be written, and sealed, and witnesses shall be taken, in the land of Benjamin, and round about Jerusalem, in the cities of Juda, and in the cities on the mountains, and in the cities of the plains, and in the cities that are towards the south: for I will bring back their captivity, saith the Lord.

²² Heth. The mercies of the Lord that we are not consumed: because his commiserations have not failed.

³² Caph. For if he hath cast off, he will also have mercy, according to the multitude of his mercies.

¹² As the shepherd visiteth his flock in the day when he shall be in the midst of his sheep that were scattered, so will I visit my sheep, and will deliver them out of all the places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. ¹³ And I will bring them out from the peoples, and will gather them out of the countries, and will bring them to their own land: and I will feed them in the mountains of Israel, by the rivers, and in all the habitations of the land.

²⁴ For I will take you from among the Gentiles, and will gather you together out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

⁷ Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold I will save my people from the land of the east, and from the land of the going down of the sun. ⁸ And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God in truth and in justice.

²³ And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

²⁶ And so all Israel should be saved, as it is written: There shall come out of Sion, he that shall deliver and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.

³¹ So these also now have not believed, for your mercy, that they also may obtain mercy.
