¹⁶ As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

⁴ Thou art poured out as water, grow thou not; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed, and didst defile his couch.

² Thou shalt not follow the multitude to do evil: neither shalt thou yield in judgment, to the opinion of the most part, to stray from the truth.

⁶ Thou shalt not go aside in the poor man's judgment.

¹⁹ And not go aside to either part. Thou shalt not accept person nor gifts: for gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and change the words of the just.

¹ And the queen of Saba having heard of the fame of Solomon in the name of the Lord, came to try him with hard questions.

¹ And Moab rebelled against Israel, after thc death of Achab. ² And Ochozias fell through the lattices of his upper chamber, which he had in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, saying to them: Go, consult Beelzebub, the god of Accaron, whether I shall recover of this my illness. ³ And an angel of the Lord spoke to Elias, the Thesbite, saying: Arise, and go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them: Is there not a God in Israel, that ye go to consult Beelzebub, the god of Accaron? ⁴ Wherefore, thus saith the Lord: From the bed, on which thou art gone up, thou shalt not come down, but thou shalt surely die. And Elias went away. ⁵ And the messengers turned back to Ochozias. And he said to them: Why are you come back? ⁶ But they answered him: A man met us, and said to us: Go, and return to the king, that sent you, and you shall say to him: Thus saith the Lord: Is it because there was no God in Israel, that thou sendest to Beelzebub, the god of Accaron? Therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed, on which thou art gone up, but thou shalt surely die. ⁷ And he said to them: What manner of man was he who met you, and spoke these words? ⁸ But they said: A hairy man, with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said: It is Elias, the Thesbite. ⁹ And he sent to him a captain of fifty, and the fifty men that were under him. And he went up to him, and as he was sitting on the top of a hill, he said to him: Man of God, the king hath commanded that thou come down. ¹⁰ And Elias answering, said to the captain of fifty: If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume thee, and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven and consumed him, and the fifty that were with him. ¹¹ And he again sent to him another captain of fifty men, and his fifty with him. And he said to him: Man of God: Thus saith the king: Make haste and come down. ¹² Elias answering, said: If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee, and thy fifty. And fire came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ Again he sent a third captain of fifty men, and the fifty that were with him. And when he was come, he fell upon his knees before Elias, and besought him, and said: Man of God, despise not my life, and the lives of thy servants that are with me. ¹⁴ Behold fire came down from heaven, and consumed the two first captains of fifty men, and the fifties that were with them: but now I beseech thee to spare my life. ¹⁵ And the angel of the Lord spoke to Elias, saying: Go down with him, fear not. He arose therefore, and went down with him to the king, ¹⁶ And said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Because thou hast sent messengers to consult Beelzebub, the god of Accaron, as though there were not a God in Israel, of whom thou mightest inquire the word; therefore, from the bed on which thou art gone up, thou shalt not come down, but thou shalt surely die. ¹⁷ So he died, according to the word of the Lord, which Elias spoke; and Joram, his brother, reigned in his stead, in the second year of Joram, the son of Josaphat, king of Juda, because he had no son. ¹⁸ But the rest of the acts of Ochozias, which he did, are they not written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

³⁶ And the burden of the Lord shall be mentioned no more, for every man's word shall be his burden: for you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God.

⁴ Therefore the law is torn in pieces, and judgment cometh not to the end: because the wicked prevaileth against the just, therefore wrong judgment goeth forth.

³ But he answering, said to them: Why do you also transgress the commandment of God for your tradition? For God said:

⁶ And he shall not honour his father or his mother: and you have made void the commandment of God for your tradition.

²⁹ And Jesus answering, said to them: You err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

¹ There is now therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh. ² For the law of the spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, hath delivered me from the law of sin and of death. ³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and of sin, hath condemned sin in the flesh. ⁴ That the justification of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the spirit. ⁵ For they that are according to the flesh mind the things that are of the flesh: but they that are according to the spirit mind the things that are of the spirit. ⁶ For the wisdom of the flesh is death: but the wisdom of the spirit is life and peace. ⁷ Because the wisdom of the flesh is an enemy to God. For it is not subject to the law of God: neither can it be. ⁸ And they who are in the flesh cannot please God. ⁹ But you are not in the flesh, but the spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. ¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead, because of sin: but the spirit liveth, because of justification. ¹¹ And if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you; he that raised up Jesus Christ, from the dead shall quicken also your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwelleth in you. ¹² Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For if you live according to the flesh, you shall die: but if by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the flesh, you shall live. ¹⁴ For whosoever are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. ¹⁵ For you have not received the spirit of bondage again in fear: but you have received the spirit of adoption of sons, whereby we cry: Abba (Father). ¹⁶ For the Spirit himself giveth testimony to our spirit that we are the sons of God. ¹⁷ And if sons, heirs also; heirs indeed of God and joint heirs with Christ: yet so, if we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to come that shall be revealed in us. ¹⁹ For the expectation of the creature waiteth for the revelation of the sons of God. ²⁰ For the creature was made subject to vanity: not willingly, but by reason of him that made it subject, in hope. ²¹ Because the creature also itself shall be delivered from the servitude of corruption, into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that every creature groaneth and travaileth in pain, even till now. ²³ And not only it, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit: even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption of the sons of God, the redemption of our body. ²⁴ For we are saved by hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he hope for? ²⁵ But if we hope for that which we see not, we wait for it with patience. ²⁶ Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity. For, we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit himself asketh for us with unspeakable groanings, ²⁷ And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what the Spirit desireth: because he asketh for the saints according to God. ²⁸ And we know that to them that love God all things work together unto good: to such as, according to his purpose, are called to be saints. ²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be made conformable to the image of his Son: that he might be the Firstborn amongst many brethren. ³⁰ And whom he predestinated, them he also called. And whom he called, them he also justified. And whom he justified, them he also glorified. ³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who is against us? ³² He that spared not even his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how hath he not also, with him, given us all things? ³³ Who shall accuse against the elect of God? God is he that justifieth: ³⁴ Who is he that shall condemn? Christ Jesus that died: yea that is risen also again, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. ³⁵ Who then shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation? Or distress? Or famine? Or nakedness? Or danger? Or persecution? Or the sword? ³⁶ (As it is written: For thy sake, we are put to death all the day long. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.) ³⁷ But in all these things we overcome, because of him that hath loved us. ³⁸ For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor might, ³⁹ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹ Now I make known unto you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received and wherein you stand. ² By which also you are saved, if you hold fast after what manner I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. ³ For I delivered unto you first of all, which I also received: how that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures: ⁴ And that he was buried: and that he rose again according to the scriptures: ⁵ And that he was seen by Cephas, and after that by the eleven. ⁶ Then was he seen by more than five hundred brethren at once: of whom many remain until this present, and some are fallen asleep. ⁷ After that, he was seen by James: then by all the apostles. ⁸ And last of all, he was seen also by me, as by one born out of due tine. ⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God, I am what I am. And his grace in me hath not been void: but I have laboured more abundantly than all they. Yet not I, but the grace of God with me: ¹¹ For whether I or they, so we preach: and so you have believed. ¹² Now if Christ be preached, that he arose again from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? ¹³ But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen again. ¹⁴ And if Christ be not risen again, then is our preaching vain: and your faith is also vain. ¹⁵ Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God: because we have given testimony against God, that he hath raised up Christ, whom he hath not raised up, if the dead rise not again. ¹⁶ For if the dead rise not again, neither is Christ risen again. ¹⁷ And if Christ be not risen again, your faith is vain: for you are yet in your sins. ¹⁸ Then they also that are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. ¹⁹ If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. ²⁰ But now Christ is risen from the dead, the firstfruits of them that sleep: ²¹ For by a man came death: and by a man the resurrection of the dead. ²² And as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive. ²³ But every one in his own order: the firstfruits, Christ: then they that are of Christ, who have believed in his coming. ²⁴ Afterwards the end: when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God and the Father: when he shall have brought to nought all principality and power and virtue. ²⁵ For he must reign, until he hath put all his enemies under his feet. ²⁶ And the enemy, death, shall be destroyed last: For he hath put all things under his feet. And whereas he saith: ²⁷ All things are put under him; undoubtedly, he is excepted, who put all things under him. ²⁸ And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then the Son also himself shall be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. ²⁹ Otherwise, what shall they do that are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not again at all? Why are they then baptized for them? ³⁰ Why also are we in danger every hour? ³¹ I die daily, I protest by your glory, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord. ³² If (according to man) I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me, if the dead rise not again? Let us eat and drink, for to morrow we shall die. ³³ Be not seduced: Evil communications corrupt good manners. ³⁴ Awake, ye just, and sin not. For some have not the knowledge of God. I speak it to your shame. ³⁵ But some man will say: How do the dead rise again? Or with what manner of body shall they come? ³⁶ Senseless man, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die first. ³⁷ And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not the body that shall be: but bare grain, as of wheat, or of some of the rest. ³⁸ But God giveth it a body as he will: and to every seed its proper body. ³⁹ All flesh is not the same flesh: but one is the flesh of men, another of beasts, other of birds, another of fishes. ⁴⁰ And there are bodies celestial and bodies terrestrial: but, one is the glory of the celestial, and another of the terrestrial. ⁴¹ One is the glory of the sun, another the glory of the moon, and another the glory of the stars. For star differeth from star in glory. ⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption: it shall rise in incorruption. ⁴³ It is sown in dishonour: it shall rise in glory. It is sown in weakness: it shall rise in power. ⁴⁴ It is sown a natural body: it shall rise a spiritual body. If there be a natural body, there is also a spiritual body, as it is written: ⁴⁵ The first man Adam was made into a living soul; the last Adam into a quickening spirit. ⁴⁶ Yet that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural: afterwards that which is spiritual. ⁴⁷ The first man was of the earth, earthly: the second man, from heaven, heavenly. ⁴⁸ Such as is the earthly, such also are the earthly: and such as is the heavenly, such also are they that are heavenly. ⁴⁹ Therefore, as we have borne the image of the earthly, let us bear also the image of the heavenly. ⁵⁰ Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot possess the kingdom of God: neither shall corruption possess incorruption. ⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall all indeed rise again: but we shall not all be changed. ⁵² In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall rise again incorruptible. And we shall be changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption: and this mortal must put on immortality. ⁵⁴ And when this mortal hath put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: Death is swallowed up in victory. ⁵⁵ O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting? ⁵⁶ Now the sting of death is sin: and the power of sin is the law. ⁵⁷ But thanks be to God, who hath given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast and unmoveable: always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction: whose God is their belly: and whose glory is in their shame: who mind earthly things.

¹ For the rest therefore, brethren, pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus that, as you have received from us, how you ought to walk and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more. ² For you know what precepts I have given to you by the Lord Jesus. ³ For this is the will of God, your sanctification: That you should abstain from fornication: ⁴ That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour, ⁵ Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles that know not God:

⁵ Having an appearance indeed of godliness but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid. ⁶ For of these sort are they who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, who are led away with divers desires: ⁷ Ever learning, and never attaining to the knowledge of the truth.

¹¹ Of whom we have much to say and hard to be intelligibly uttered: because you are become weak to hear.

⁸ A double minded man is inconstant in all his ways.

¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers dispersed through Pontus, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, elect,

⁸ And a stone of stumbling and a rock of scandal, to them who stumble at the word, neither do believe, whereunto also they are set.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers who shall bring in sects of perdition and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls: having their heart exercised with covetousness: children of malediction.

⁴ For certain men are secretly entered in (who were written of long ago unto this judgment), ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness and denying the only sovereign Ruler and our Lord Jesus Christ.
