³⁸ And return to thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, to which they were led away, and adore thee towards the way of their own land which thou gavest their fathers, and of the city, which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built to thy name:

² And shalt return to him, and obey his commandments, as I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul: ³ The Lord thy God will bring back again thy captivity, and will have mercy on thee, and gather thee again out of all the nations, into which he scattered thee before. ⁴ If thou be driven as far as the poles of heaven, the Lord thy God will fetch thee back from hence, ⁵ And will take thee to himself, and bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it: and blessing thee, he will make thee more numerous than were thy fathers. ⁶ The Lord thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed: that thou mayst love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, that thou mayst live.

³⁴ If thy people go out to war against their enemies, by the way that thou shalt send them, and adore thee towards the way of this city, which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built to thy name:

¹¹ Therefore he brought upon them the captains of he army of the king of the Assyrians: and they took Manasses, and carried him bound with chains and fetters to Babylon. ¹² And after that he was in distress he prayed to the Lord his God: and did penance exceedingly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ And he entreated him, and besought him earnestly: and he heard his prayer, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom, and Manasses knew that the Lord was God.

¹² And you shall call upon me, and you shall go. and you shall pray to me, and I will hear you. ¹³ You shall seek me, and shall find me: when you shall seek me with all your heart. ¹⁴ And I will be found by you, saith the Lord: and I will bring back your captivity, and I will gather you out of all nations, and from all the places to which I have driven you out, saith the Lord: and I will bring you back from the place to which I caused you to be carried away captive.

¹⁰ Now, when Daniel knew this, that is to say, that the law was made, he went into his house: and opening the windows in his upper chamber towards Jerusalem, he knelt down three times a day, and adored and gave thanks before his God, as he had been accustomed to do before.

³ And I set my face to the Lord, my God, to pray and make supplication with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes. ⁴ And I prayed to the Lord, my God, and I made my confession, and said: I beseech thee, O Lord God, great and terrible, who keepest the covenant, and mercy to them that love thee, and keep thy commandments.

^{1 (14:2)} Return, O Israel, to the Lord thy God: for thou hast fallen down by thy iniquity. ^{2 (14:3)} Take with you words, and return to the Lord, and say to him: Take away all iniquity, and receive the good: and we will render the calves of our lips. ^{3 (14:4)} Assyria shall not save us, we will not ride upon horses, neither will we say any more: The works of our hands are our gods: for thou wilt have mercy on the fatherless that is in thee. ^{4 (14:5)} I will heal their breaches, I will love them freely: for my wrath is turned away from them.

¹² Now, therefore, saith the Lord. Be converted to me with all your heart, in fasting, and in weeping, and mourning. ¹³ And rend your hearts, and not your garments and turn to the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, patient and rich in mercy, and ready to repent of the evil.
