^{32 (4:29)} And they shall cast thee out from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with cattle and wild beasts: thou shalt eat grass like an ox, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

² And being now drunk, he commanded that they should bring the vessels of gold and silver, which Nabuchodonosor, his father, had brought away out of the temple, that was in Jerusalem, that the king and his nobles, and his wives, and his concubines, might drink in them. ³ Then were the golden and silver vessels brought, which he had brought away out of the temple that was in Jeursalem: and the king and his nobles, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

¹⁹ And for the greatness that he gave to him, all people, tribes, and languages trembled, and were afraid of him: whom he would, he slew: and whom he would, he destroyed: and whom he would, he set up: and whom he would, he brought down. ²⁰ But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit hardened unto pride, he was put down from the throne of his kingdom, and his glory was taken away. ²¹ And he was driven out from the the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses, and he did eat grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven: till he knew that the most High ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he will set over it whomsoever it shall please him.

²³ But hast lifted thyself up against the Lord of heaven: and the vessels of his house have been brought before thee: and thou, and thy nobles, and thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them: and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and of gold, and of brass, of iron, and of wood, and of stone, that neither see, nor hear, nor feel: but the God who hath thy breath in his hand, and all thy ways, thou hast not glorified.

²⁶ It is decreed by me, that in all my empire and my kingdom, all men dread and fear the God of Daniel. For he is the living and eternal God for ever: and his kingdom shall not be destroyed, and his power shall be for ever.

¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, saying:

¹⁴ And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel governor of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people: and they went in, and did the work in the house of the Lord of Hosts their God.

^{2 (2:3)} Speak to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel the governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and to the rest of the people, saying: ^{3 (2:4)} Who is left among you, that saw this house in its first glory? and how do you see it now? is it not in comparison to that as nothing in your eyes? ^{4 (2:5)} Yet now take courage, O Zorobabel, saith the Lord, and take courage, Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and take courage, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord of hosts: and perform (for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts)

⁶ And he answered, and spoke to me, saying: This is the word of the Lord to Zorobabel, saying: Not with an army, nor by might, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. ⁷ Who art thou, O great mountain, before Zorobabel? thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring out the chief stone, and shall give equal grace to the grace thereof. ⁸ And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: ⁹ The hands of Zorobabel have laid the foundations of this house, and his hands shall finish it: and you shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me to you. ¹⁰ For who hath despised little days? and they shall rejoice, and shall see the tin plummet in the hand of Zorobabel. These are the seven eyes of the Lord, that run to and fro through the whole earth.

¹¹ And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon. ¹² And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.

¹ And in those days cometh John the Baptist preaching in the desert of Judea. ² And saying: Do penance: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ³ For this is he that was spoken of by Isaias the prophet, saying: A voice of one crying in the desert, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.

²⁹ Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father. ³⁰ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. ³¹ Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows.

⁸ But she being instructed before by her mother, said: Give me here in a dish the head of John the Baptist.

²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.

²³ He said: I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaias.

³⁶ God sent the word to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all).

¹⁷ Now after many years, I came to bring alms to my nation and offerings and vows.

²³ That he might shew the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy which he hath prepared unto glory?

¹⁶ And thanks be to God, who hath given the same carefulness for you in the heart of Titus.

⁷ Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

² Bear ye one another's burdens: and so you shall fulfil the law of Christ.

¹³ For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will.

¹⁹ But the sure foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal: the Lord knoweth who are his; and let every one depart from iniquity who nameth the name of the Lord. ²⁰ But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth: and some indeed unto honour, but some unto dishonour. ²¹ If any man therefore shall cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and profitable to the Lord, prepared unto every good work.

¹⁶ Do not err, therefore, my dearest brethren. ¹⁷ Every best gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change nor shadow of alteration.

⁶ Who have given testimony to thy charity in the sight of the church. Whom thou shalt do well to bring forward on their way in a manner worthy of God: ⁷ Because, for his name they went out, taking nothing of the Gentiles. ⁸ We therefore ought to receive such: that we may be fellow helpers of the truth.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, follow not that which is evil: but that which is good. He that doth good is of God: he that doth evil hath not seen God.
