⁸ But if any man have not care of his own and especially of those of his house, he hath denied the faith and is worse than an infidel.

³⁰ Thou hadst but little before I came to thee, and now thou art become rich: and the Lord hath blessed thee at my coming. It is reasonable, therefore, that I should now provide also for my own house.

⁷ Deal thy bread to the hungry, and bring the needy and the harbourless into thy house: when thou shalt see one naked, cover him, and despise not thy own flesh.

¹¹ If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more will your Father who is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him?

¹⁷ And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.

¹¹ And which of you, if he ask his father bread, will he give him a stone? Or a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? ¹² Or if he shall ask an egg, will he reach him a scorpion? ¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father from heaven give the good Spirit to them that ask him?

⁴⁷ And that servant, who knew the will of his lord and prepared not himself and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. ⁴⁸ But he that knew not and did things worthy of stripes shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more.

²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin.

¹⁵ For we are the good odour of Christ unto God, in them that are saved and in them that perish. ¹⁶ To the one indeed the odour of death unto death: but to the others the odour of life unto life. And for these things who is so sufficient?

¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever?

¹⁴ Behold now the third time I am ready to come to you and I will not be burthensome unto you. For I seek not the things that are yours, but you. For neither ought the children to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

¹⁰ Therefore, whilst we have time, let us work good to all men, but especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

⁵ Having an appearance indeed of godliness but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.

¹⁶ They profess that they know God: but in their works they deny him: being abominable and incredulous and to every good work reprobate.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers who shall bring in sects of perdition and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

⁴ For certain men are secretly entered in (who were written of long ago unto this judgment), ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness and denying the only sovereign Ruler and our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹³ I know where thou dwellest, where the seat of Satan is. And thou holdest fast my name and hast not denied my faith. Even in those days when Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

⁸ I know thy works. Behold, I have given before thee a door opened, which no man can shut: because thou hast a little strength and hast kept my word and hast not denied my name.
