⁸ He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is charity.

⁶ And when he passed before him, he said: O the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, patient and of much compassion, and true, ⁷ Who keepest mercy unto thousands: who takest away iniquity, and wickedness, and sin, and no man of himself is innocent before thee. Who renderest the iniquity of the fathers to the children, and to the grandchildren unto the third and fourth generation.

⁵ For thou, O Lord, art sweet and mild: and plenteous in mercy to all that call upon thee.

¹⁵ And thou, O Lord, art a God of compassion, and merciful, patient, and of much mercy, and true.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God. ⁵⁵ And you have not known him: but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him and do keep his word.

¹¹ For the rest, brethren, rejoice, be perfect, take exhortation, be of one mind, have peace. And the God of grace and of love shall be with you.

⁴ But God (who is rich in mercy) for his exceeding charity wherewith he loved us

²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

⁵ And this is the declaration which we have heard from him and declare unto you: That God is light and in him there is no darkness.

⁴ He who saith that he knoweth him and keepeth not his commandments is a liar: and the truth is not in him.

⁹ He that saith he is in the light and hateth his brother is in darkness even until now.

⁶ Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: and whosoever sinneth hath not seen him nor known him.

⁷ Dearly beloved, let us love one another: for charity is of God. And every one that loveth is born of God and knoweth God.

¹⁶ And we have known and have believed the charity which God hath to us. God is charity: and he that abideth in charity abideth in God, and God in him.
