¹⁷ In this is the charity of God perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment: because as he is, we also are in this world.

¹⁵ Amen I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the good man of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?

²² But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you.

³⁶ But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment.

²⁰ Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated to be made conformable to the image of his Son: that he might be the Firstborn amongst many brethren.

² Looking on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith, who, having joy set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and now sitteth on the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For think diligently upon him that endured such opposition from sinners against himself that you be not wearied, fainting in your minds.

¹³ For judgment without mercy to him that hath not done mercy. And mercy exalteth itself above judgment.

²² Seest thou that faith did cooperate with his works and by works faith was made perfect?

¹⁶ But with modesty and fear, having a good conscience: that whereas they speak evil of you, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. ¹⁷ For it is better doing well (if such be the will of God) to suffer than doing ill. ¹⁸ Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit,

¹ Christ therefore having suffered in the flesh, be you also armed with the same thought: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sins: ² That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men but according to the will of God. ³ For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings and unlawful worshipping of idols.

¹³ But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you shall be blessed: for that which is of the honour, glory and power of God, and that which is his Spirit resteth upon you.

⁹ The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly from temptation, but to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be tormented:

⁷ But the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of the ungodly men.

⁵ But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected. And by this we know that we are in him.

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in him, that when he shall appear we may have confidence and not be confounded by him at his coming.

¹ Behold what manner of charity the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called and should be the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth not us, because it knew not him.

³ And every one that hath this hope in him sanctifieth himself, as he also is holy.

¹⁹ In this we know that we are of the truth and in his sight shall persuade our hearts. ²⁰ For if our heart reprehend us, God is greater than our heart and knoweth all things. ²¹ Dearly beloved, if our heart do not reprehend us, we have confidence towards God.

¹² No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abideth in us: and his charity is perfected in us.
