⁶ Now these things were done in a figure of us, that we should not covet evil things, as they also coveted.

⁴ For a mixt multitude of people, that came up with them, burned with desire, sitting and weeping, the children of Israel also being joined with them, and said: Who shall give us flesh to eat?

³¹ And a wind going out from the Lord, taking quails up beyond the sea brought them, and cast them into the camp for the space of one day's journey, on every side of the camp round about, and they flew in the air two cubits high above the ground. ³² The people therefore rising up all that day, and night, and the next day, gathered together of quails, he that did least, ten cores: and they dried them round about the camp. ³³ As yet the flesh was between their teeth, neither had that kind of meat failed: when behold the wrath of the Lord being provoked against the people, struck them with an exceeding great plague. ³⁴ And that place was called, The graves of lust: for there they buried the people that had lusted.

²⁷ And he rained upon them flesh as dust: and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea. ²⁸ And they fell in the midst of their camp, round about their pavilions. ²⁹ So they did eat, and were filled exceedingly, and he gave them their desire: ³⁰ they were not defrauded of that which they craved. As yet their meat was in their mouth: ³¹ And the wrath of God came upon them. And he slew the fat ones amongst them, and brought down the chosen men of Israel.

¹⁴ And they coveted their desire in the desert: and they tempted God in the place without water. ¹⁵ And he gave them their request: and sent fulness into their souls.

⁶ I have destroyed the nations, and their towers are beaten down: I have made their ways desert, so that there is none that passeth by: their cities are desolate, there is not a man remaining, nor any inhabitant. ⁷ I said: Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive correction: and her dwelling shall not perish, for all things wherein I have visited her: but they rose early, and corrupted all their thoughts.

¹⁴ But death reigned from Adam unto Moses, even over them also who have not sinned, after the similitude of the transgression of Adam, who is a figure of him who was to come.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

¹¹ Let us hasten therefore to enter into that rest: lest any man fall into the same example of unbelief.

²⁴ For Jesus is not entered into the Holies made with hands, the patterns of the true: but into Heaven itself, that he may appear now in the presence of God for us.

²¹ Whereunto baptism, being of the like form, now saveth you also: not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but, the examination of a good conscience towards God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

⁶ And reducing the cities of the Sodomites and of the Gomorrhites into ashes, condemned them to be overthrown, making them an example to those that should after act wickedly,

⁷ As Sodom and Gomorrha and the neighbouring cities, in like manner, having given themselves to fornication and going after other flesh, were made an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
