¹ My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.

²⁸ and a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of Jehovah your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods which ye have not known.

²² Receive, I pray thee, instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart.

⁸ Hear, my son, the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;

¹ My son, if thou receivest my words, and layest up my commandments with thee, ² so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom [and] thou apply thy heart to understanding; ³ yea, if thou criest after discernment [and] liftest up thy voice to understanding; ⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hidden treasures: ⁵ then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For Jehovah giveth wisdom; out of his mouth [come] knowledge and understanding. ⁷ He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright; [he] is a shield to them that walk in integrity;

¹ My son, forget not my teaching, and let thy heart observe my commandments;

¹⁴ The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.

¹⁵ But that in the good ground, these are they who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

²⁸ But *he* said, Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep [it].

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.

²⁰ Remember the word which I said unto you, The bondman is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep also yours.

³ Blessed [is] he that reads, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things written in it; for the time [is] near.

⁹ And he says to me, See [thou do it] not. I am thy fellow-bondman, and [the fellow-bondman] of thy brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Do homage to God.
