¹⁶ For the righteous falleth seven times, and riseth up again; but the wicked stumble into disaster.

¹⁰ And David said, [As] Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will surely smite him; either his day shall come to die, or he shall descend into battle and perish.

⁴ Then said Saul to his armour-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armour-bearer would not; for he was much afraid. So Saul took the sword and fell on it.

¹⁰ So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king`s wrath was appeased.

¹⁹ He will deliver thee in six troubles, and in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

¹⁶ His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violence shall come down upon his own pate.

¹⁹ Many are the adversities of the righteous, but Jehovah delivereth him out of them all:

²⁴ though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for Jehovah upholdeth his hand.

⁵ ?God shall likewise destroy thee for ever; he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of [thy] tent, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

¹⁷ A wicked messenger falleth into evil; but a faithful ambassador is health.

³² The wicked is driven away by his evil-doing; but the righteous trusteth, [even] in his death.

¹⁴ Happy is the man that feareth always; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil. ¹⁵ A roaring lion, and a ranging bear, is a wicked ruler over a poor people. ¹⁶ The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor: he that hateth covetousness shall prolong [his] days. ¹⁷ A man laden with the blood of [any] person, fleeth to the pit: let no man stay him. ¹⁸ Whoso walketh in integrity shall be saved; but he that is perverted in [his] double ways, shall fall in one [of them].

² The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more arise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

¹⁴ they that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, [As] thy god, O Dan, liveth! and, [As] the way of Beer-sheba liveth! even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: though I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, Jehovah shall be a light unto me. ⁹ I will bear the indignation of Jehovah -- for I have sinned against him -- until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light; I shall behold his righteousness. ¹⁰ And mine enemy shall see [it], and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is Jehovah thy God? Mine eyes shall behold her; now shall she be trodden down, as the mire of the streets.

²³ And immediately an angel of [the] Lord smote him, because he did not give the glory to God, and he expired, eaten of worms.

⁸ For we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, as to our tribulation which happened [to us] in Asia, that we were excessively pressed beyond [our] power, so as to despair even of living. ⁹ But we ourselves had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not have our trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; ¹⁰ who has delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver; in whom we confide that he will also yet deliver;

⁸ every way afflicted, but not straitened; seeing no apparent issue, but our way not entirely shut up; ⁹ persecuted, but not abandoned; cast down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body; ¹¹ for we who live are always delivered unto death on account of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh; ¹² so that death works in us, but life in you.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as being beside myself) *I* above measure [so]; in labours exceedingly abundant, in stripes to excess, in prisons exceedingly abundant, in deaths oft. ²⁴ From the Jews five times have I received forty [stripes], save one. ²⁵ Thrice have I been scourged, once I have been stoned, three times I have suffered shipwreck, a night and day I passed in the deep: ²⁶ in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers, in perils from [my own] race, in perils from [the] nations, in perils in [the] city, in perils in [the] desert, in perils on [the] sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ in labour and toil, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

³ When they may say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon her that is with child; and they shall in no wise escape.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, heaven, and [ye] saints and apostles and prophets; for God has judged your judgment upon her. ²¹ And a strong angel took up a stone, as a great millstone, and cast [it] into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall Babylon the great city be cast down, and shall be found no more at all;
