²³ For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off.

¹ When Jehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and shall cast out many nations from before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou,

²⁴ And the children went in and possessed the land; and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, both their kings and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they would. ²⁵ And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all good things, wells digged, vineyards and olive-gardens, and fruit trees in abundance. And they did eat and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.

⁵⁴ And he brought them to his holy border, this mountain, which his right hand purchased; ⁵⁵ And he drove out the nations before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

⁴⁴ And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the labour of the peoples:

³ The sea saw it and fled, the Jordan turned back;

⁵ What ailed thee, thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou turnedst back?

⁴⁵ which also our fathers, receiving from their predecessors, brought in with Joshua when they entered into possession of [the lands of] the nations, whom God drove out from [the] face of our fathers, until the days of David;

¹⁹ And having destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance.
