¹⁷ For the morning is to them all [as] the shadow of death; for they are familiar with the terrors of the shadow of death.

⁵ Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it; let clouds dwell upon it; let darkeners of the day terrify it.

¹⁸ Truly thou settest them in slippery places, thou castest them down in ruins. ¹⁹ How are they suddenly made desolate! they pass away, consumed with terrors.

²⁶ As a thief is ashamed when he is found, so shall the house of Israel be ashamed -- they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets --

¹⁰ For we must all be manifested before the judgment-seat of the Christ, that each may receive the things [done] in the body, according to those he has done, whether [it be] good or evil. ¹¹ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord we persuade men, but have been manifested to God, and I hope also that we have been manifested in your consciences.

¹⁶ and they say to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us, and have us hidden from [the] face of him that sits upon the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; ¹⁷ because the great day of his wrath is come, and who is able to stand?
