³³ And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered his feet into the bed, and expired, and was gathered to his peoples.

⁵ And he led him out, and said, Look now toward the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them. And he said to him, So shall thy seed be!

⁸ And Abraham expired and died in a good old age, old and full [of days]; and was gathered to his peoples.

¹⁷ And these are the years of the life of Ishmael: a hundred and thirty-seven years; and he expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples.

²⁹ And Isaac expired and died, and was gathered to his peoples, old and full of days. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

²⁶ Thou shalt come to the grave in a ripe age, as a shock of corn is brought in in its season.

¹⁰ But a man dieth, and is prostrate; yea, man expireth, and where is he?

²³ For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and into the house of assemblage for all living.

⁷ and the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit return unto God who gave it.

¹ The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from before the evil. ² He entereth into peace: they rest in their beds, [each one] that hath walked in his uprightness.

²⁹ Lord, now thou lettest thy bondman go, according to thy word, in peace;

¹⁵ And Jacob went down into Egypt and died, he and our fathers,

¹³ All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar off and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. ¹⁴ For they who say such things shew clearly that they seek [their] country. ¹⁵ And if they had called to mind that from whence they went out, they had had opportunity to have returned; ¹⁶ but now they seek a better, that is, a heavenly; wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he has prepared for them a city.

²² By faith Joseph [when] dying called to mind the going forth of the sons of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones.

²³ the universal gathering; and to [the] assembly of the firstborn [who are] registered in heaven; and to God, judge of all; and to [the] spirits of just [men] made perfect;
