⁶ who has also made us competent, [as] ministers of [the] new covenant; not of letter, but of spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens.

²⁶ Cursed be he that confirmeth not the words of this law to do them! And all the people shall say, Amen.

³¹ Behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

⁵² And he said to them, For this reason every scribe discipled to the kingdom of the heavens is like a man [that is] a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.

²⁸ For this is my blood, that of the [new] covenant, that shed for many for remission of sins.

²⁴ And he said to them, This is my blood, that of the [new] covenant, that shed for many.

²⁰ In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup [is] the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

²¹ For even as the Father raises the dead and quickens [them], thus the Son also quickens whom he will:

⁶³ It is the Spirit which quickens, the flesh profits nothing: the words which I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life.

⁵ by whom we have received grace and apostleship in behalf of his name, for obedience of faith among all the nations,

²⁷ and uncircumcision by nature, fulfilling the law, judge thee, who, with letter and circumcision, [art] a law-transgressor? ²⁸ For he is not a Jew who [is] one outwardly, neither that circumcision which is outward in flesh; ²⁹ but he [is] a Jew [who is so] inwardly; and circumcision, of the heart, in spirit, not in letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God.

²⁰ Wherefore by works of law no flesh shall be justified before him; for by law [is] knowledge of sin.

¹⁵ For law works wrath; but where no law is neither [is there] transgression.

¹⁷ (according as it is written, I have made thee father of many nations,) before the God whom he believed, who quickens the dead, and calls the things which be not as being;

⁶ but now we are clear from the law, having died in that in which we were held, so that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in oldness of letter.

⁹ But *I* was alive without law once; but the commandment having come, sin revived, but *I* died. ¹⁰ And the commandment, which [was] for life, was found, [as] to me, itself [to be] unto death: ¹¹ for sin, getting a point of attack by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew [me].

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.

⁵ Who then is Apollos, and who Paul? Ministering servants, through whom ye have believed, and as the Lord has given to each.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which has been given to me, as a wise architect, I have laid the foundation, but another builds upon it. But let each see how he builds upon it.

²⁵ In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye shall drink [it], in remembrance of me.

²⁸ And God has set certain in the assembly: first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then miraculous powers; then gifts of healings; helps; governments; kinds of tongues.

⁴⁵ Thus also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul; the last Adam a quickening spirit.

⁷ (But if the ministry of death, in letters, graven in stones, began with glory, so that the children of Israel could not fix their eyes on the face of Moses, on account of the glory of his face, [a glory] which is annulled;

⁹ For if the ministry of condemnation [be] glory, much rather the ministry of righteousness abounds in glory.

¹⁴ But their thoughts have been darkened, for unto this day the same veil remains in reading the old covenant, unremoved, which in Christ is annulled.

¹⁸ and all things [are] of the God who has reconciled us to himself by [Jesus] Christ, and given to us the ministry of that reconciliation: ¹⁹ how that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their offences; and putting in us the word of that reconciliation. ²⁰ We are ambassadors therefore for Christ, God as [it were] beseeching by us, we entreat for Christ, Be reconciled to God.

¹⁰ For as many as are on the principle of works of law are under curse. For it is written, Cursed is every one who does not continue in all things which [are] written in the book of the law to do them; ¹¹ but that by law no one is justified with God [is] evident, because The just shall live on the principle of faith; ¹² but the law is not on the principle of faith; but, He that shall have done these things shall live by them.

²¹ [Is] then the law against the promises of God? Far be the thought. For if a law had been given able to quicken, then indeed righteousness were on the principle of law;

¹ and *you*, being dead in your offences and sins --

⁵ (we too being dead in offences,) has quickened us with the Christ, (ye are saved by grace,)

⁷ of which I am become minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me, according to the working of his power.

¹¹ and *he* has given some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers, ¹² for the perfecting of the saints; with a view to [the] work of [the] ministry, with a view to the edifying of the body of Christ;

²⁵ of which *I* became minister, according to the dispensation of God which [is] given me towards you to complete the word of God, ²⁶ the mystery which [has been] hidden from ages and from generations, but has now been made manifest to his saints; ²⁷ to whom God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the nations, which is Christ in you the hope of glory: ²⁸ whom *we* announce, admonishing every man, and teaching every man, in all wisdom, to the end that we may present every man perfect in Christ. ²⁹ Whereunto also I toil, combating according to his working, which works in me in power.

¹¹ according to the glad tidings of the glory of the blessed God, with which *I* have been entrusted. ¹² [And] I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me power, that he has counted me faithful, appointing to ministry him

⁶ Laying these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished with the words of the faith and of the good teaching which thou hast fully followed up.

¹¹ to which *I* have been appointed a herald and apostle and teacher of [the] nations.

²² by so much Jesus became surety of a better covenant.

⁶ But now he has got a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is mediator of a better covenant, which is established on the footing of better promises. ⁷ For if that first was faultless, place had not been sought for a second. ⁸ For finding fault, he says to them, Behold, days come, saith the Lord, and I will consummate a new covenant as regards the house of Israel, and as regards the house of Juda; ⁹ not according to the covenant which I made to their fathers in [the] day of my taking their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because *they* did not continue in my covenant, and *I* did not regard them, saith [the] Lord. ¹⁰ Because this [is] the covenant that I will covenant to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: Giving my laws into their mind, I will write them also upon their hearts; and I will be to them for God, and *they* shall be to me for people.

¹⁵ And for this reason he is mediator of a new covenant, so that, death having taken place for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, the called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. ¹⁶ (For where [there is] a testament, the death of the testator must needs come in. ¹⁷ For a testament [is] of force when men are dead, since it is in no way of force while the testator is alive.) ¹⁸ Whence neither the first was inaugurated without blood. ¹⁹ For every commandment having been spoken according to [the] law by Moses to all the people; having taken the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, ²⁰ saying, This [is] the blood of the covenant which God has enjoined to you.

²⁴ and to Jesus, mediator of a new covenant; and to [the] blood of sprinkling, speaking better than Abel.

²⁰ But the God of peace, who brought again from among [the] dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, in [the power of the] blood of [the] eternal covenant,

¹⁸ for Christ indeed has once suffered for sins, [the] just for [the] unjust, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in flesh, but made alive in [the] Spirit,

¹ That which was from [the] beginning, that which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes; that which we contemplated, and our hands handled, concerning the word of life;
