¹ These are prouerbes of Salomon. A wyse sonne maketh a glad father, but an vndiscrete sonne is the heuynesse of his mother.

³² And he spake thre thousande prouerbes, & his songes were a thousande & fyue.

¹ These are the prouerbes of Salomon the sonne of Dauid kynge of Israel:

²⁰ A wyse sonne maketh a glad father, but an vndiscrete body shameth his mother.

²¹ An vnwyse body bryngeth himselfe in to sorowe, and ye father of a foole can haue no ioye.

²⁵ An vndiscrete sonne is a grefe vnto his father, and heuynesse vnto his mother yt bare him.

¹³ An vndiscrete sonne is ye heuynes of his father, & a braulynge wife is like the topp of an house, where thorow it is euer droppynge.

¹⁵ My sonne, yf yi herte receaue wy?dome, my herte also shal reioyce: ¹⁶ yee my reynes shalbe very glad, yf yi lyppes speake the thinge yt is right.

²⁴ (for a righteous father is maruelous glad of a wyse sonne, & delyteth in hi) ²⁵ so shal thy father be glad, and thy mother that bare the, shal reioyse.

¹ These also are Salomons prouerbes, which the men of Ezechias kinge of Iuda gathered together.

³ Who so loueth wy?dome, maketh his father a glad man: but he yt kepeth harlottes, spedeth awaye yt he hath.

¹⁵ The rodde and correccion mynistre wy?dome, but yf a childe be not loked vnto, he bryngeth his mother to shame.

¹⁹ for who knoweth, whether he shalbe a wyse ma or a foole? And yet shal he be lorde of all my labours, which I with soch wy?dome haue taken vnder the Sonne. Is not this a vayne thinge?

⁹ The same preacher was not wyse alone, but taught the people knowlege also: he gaue good hede, sought out the groude and set forth many parables.
