1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?
2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
3 For what does the scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."
4 Now to him who works, his wages are not reckoned as a gift but as his due.
5 And to one who does not work but trusts him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness.
6 So also David describes the blessedness of the man to whom God reckons righteousness apart from works:
7 "Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;
8 blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not reckon his sin."
9 Is this blessedness only upon the circumcised, or also upon the uncircumcised? For we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham as righteousness.
10 How then was it reckoned to him? Was it after he had been circumcised, or before? It was not after, but before he was circumcised.
11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness which he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be reckoned to them.
12 And he is also the father of the circumcised who are not only circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith which our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
13 The promise to Abraham and his descendants, that he would be heir of the world, was not through the law but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if those who are of the law are to be the heirs, faith has no value and the promise is void,
15 because the law brings wrath, for where there is no law there is no transgression.
16 Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all his descendantsnot only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, for he is the father of us all
17 (as it is written, "I have made you the father of many nations") in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls things that do not exist as though they did.
18 In hope, he believed against hope, so that he became the father of many nations; as he had been told, "So shall your descendants be."
19 And he did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah's womb.
20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21 being fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
22 That is why it was "reckoned to him as righteousness."
23 But the words, "it was reckoned to him," were written not for his sake alone,
24 but for us also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord,
25 who was delivered to death for our sins and was raised for our justification.

2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
4 and to them he said, 'You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.
5 Again he went out about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, and did the same thing.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why have you been standing here idle all day?'
7 They said to him, 'Because no one has hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.'
8 And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.'
9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius.
10 So when the first came, they thought they would receive more; but each of them also received a denarius.
11 And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner,
12 saying, 'These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.'
13 But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as I gave to you.
15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'
16 So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

Romans 6:1
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?
Romans 7:7
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."
Romans 7:7-25
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have known what sin was except through the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."
8 But sin, finding opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetous desire. For apart from the law sin lies dead.
9 I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.
10 The very commandment which was to bring life I found to be death to me.
11 For sin, finding opportunity in the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.
12 So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.
13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Certainly not! But it was sin, working death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, so that through the commandment sin might become sinful beyond measure.
14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 I do not understand what I do. For I do not do what I want to do, but I do what I hate.
16 Now if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
17 So then, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
18 For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will to do what is good, but I cannot do it.
19 For I do not do the good I want to do; but the evil I do not want to do is what I do.
20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.
21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being,
23 but I see in my members another law, at war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members.
24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
25 Thanks be to Godthrough Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I of myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

45 So it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:56
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
1 Corinthians 16:13
13 Be on the your guard, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
2 Corinthians 1:22
22 he has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 3:7-9
7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was,
8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?
9 For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness exceed it in glory.
2 Corinthians 5:12
12 We are not again commending ourselves to you, but are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you may have an answer for those who take pride in appearance and not in heart.
2 Corinthians 5:19-20
19 that is, God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
20 We are therefore ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making his appeal through us. We beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 9:8
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may have an abundance for every good work.
2 Corinthians 11:12
12 And what I am doing, I will also continue to do, in order to cut the ground from under those who want an opportunity to be considered equal with us in the things of which they boast.
2 Corinthians 11:22
22 Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I.
2 Corinthians 11:30
30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:1-9
1 I must go on boasting, though there is nothing to be gained by it; but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows.
3 And I know that this manwhether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows
4 was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, which a man is not permitted to tell.
5 On behalf of such a man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses.
6 Though if I should boast, I will not be a fool, for I will be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me.
7 And to keep me from being too elated because of the abundance of revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too elated.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should depart from me.
9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me.
10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:18
18 I urged Titus to go, and I sent the brother with him. Titus did not take advantage of you, did he? Did we not act in the same spirit and walk in the same steps?
Galatians 1:4
4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
Galatians 2:16-17
16 yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law will no flesh be justified.
17 But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not!
Galatians 2:21
21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing."
Galatians 3:6-8
Galatians 3:7
7 Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.
Galatians 3:7-12
Galatians 3:8-14
8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you will all the nations be blessed."
Galatians 3:8-9
8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you will all the nations be blessed."
Galatians 3:8-12
Galatians 3:9-9
9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the man of faith.
Galatians 3:9-12
Galatians 3:10
10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to do them."
Galatians 3:10-12
Galatians 3:11-12
Galatians 3:12-12
Galatians 3:13
Galatians 3:14
14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:16-18
16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, "And to your seed," that is, Christ.
17 What I mean is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.
18 For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.
Galatians 3:18-24
18 For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.
19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.
Galatians 3:19
19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.
20 Now a mediator does not represent just one party; but God is one.
21 Is the law then opposed to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given which could impart life, then righteousness would indeed have come by the law.
22 But the Scripture has bound everyone under sin, so that that what was promised by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Galatians 3:22-24
22 But the Scripture has bound everyone under sin, so that that what was promised by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 Now before faith came, we were bound under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed.
24 So the law was our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Galatians 3:26-28
26 For you are all sons of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
Galatians 4:15
15 What has become of the satisfaction you felt? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
Galatians 4:22-31
22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave and one by the free woman.
23 But the son by the slave was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise.
24 This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar.
25 Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
26 But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.
27 For it is written, "Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who are not in labor; for the children of the desolate are more numerous than the children of her who has a husband."
28 Now you, brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise.
29 But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now.
30 But what does the scripture say? "Cast out the slave and her son, for the son of the slave shall not inherit with the son of the free woman."
31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the slave, but of the free woman.
Galatians 5:4
Galatians 6:13-14
13 For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh.
14 But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but what counts is a new creation.
16 Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God.
Ephesians 1:3
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Ephesians 1:13
13 In him, you also have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having also believed, you were sealed in him with the promised Holy Spirit,
Ephesians 1:18-20
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of his might
20 which he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
Ephesians 2:1-5
1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
3 Among them we all once lived in the lusts of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Ephesians 2:5-5
5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God
Ephesians 2:8
Ephesians 2:9-10
9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we would walk in them.
11 Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands
12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near in the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 3:8
8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
Ephesians 4:30
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Ephesians 5:2
2 and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:6
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Ephesians 6:10
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Philippians 3:9
9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christthe righteousness that comes from God and is by faith,
Colossians 3:6
6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
Colossians 3:11
11 Here there is no Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free, but Christ is all, and in all.
1 Timothy 1:13-15
13 Even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor, I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;
14 and the grace of our Lord was overflowing for me, with the faith and love that are found in Christ Jesus.
15 It is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinnersof whom I am the foremost.
1 Timothy 6:13
13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession before Pontius Pilate,
2 Timothy 1:9
9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and the grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
2 Timothy 1:12
12 For this reason I also suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
2 Timothy 2:1
1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Titus 2:14
14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.
Titus 3:3-7
3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,
5 he saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but because of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit,
6 whom he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titus 3:7
7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Philemon 1:18-19
Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 6:13-19
13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself,
14 saying, "I will surely bless you and multiply you."
15 And so Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise.
16 Men swear by one greater than themselves, and in all their disputes the oath is final for confirmation.
17 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he interposed with an oath,
18 so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.
19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
Hebrews 7:19
19 (for the law made nothing perfect); and on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
Hebrews 7:28
28 For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.

28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Hebrews 10:12-14
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in godly fear prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith.
Hebrews 11:11-19
Hebrews 11:12-19
12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from a distance, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
Hebrews 11:13
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from a distance, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
14 For people who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.
15 And if they had been thinking of that country from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was ready to offer up his only son,
18 of whom it was said, "Through Isaac shall your descendants be called."
19 He considered that God was able to raise men even from the dead; from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

19 He considered that God was able to raise men even from the dead; from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

20 Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the eternal covenant,
21 equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
