Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord."

¹³ When a gentle south wind came up, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, they weighed anchor and began sailing along Crete, close inshore. ¹⁴ But before very long there rushed down from the land a violent wind, called the northeaster; ¹⁵ and when the ship was caught in it and could not face the wind, we gave way to it and were driven along. ¹⁶ And running under the lee of a small island called Cauda, we were scarcely able to secure the boat. ¹⁷ After they had hoisted it up, they used supporting cables to undergird the ship; and fearing that they might run aground on the shallows of Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and in this way let themselves be driven along. ¹⁸ The next day as we were being violently storm-tossed, they began to throw the cargo overboard; ¹⁹ and on the third day they threw the ship's tackle overboard with their own hands. ²⁰ When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm was raging on us, all hope of our being saved was finally abandoned. ²¹ When they had gone a long time without food, then Paul stood up among them and said, "Men, you should have followed my advice and not to have set sail from Crete and incurred this damage and loss. ²² Yet now I urge you to keep up your courage; for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. ²³ For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me, ²⁴ and he said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.' ²⁵ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen exactly as I have been told. ²⁶ But we must run aground on some island." ²⁷ But when the fourteenth night came, as we were being driven across the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors began to sense that they were approaching land. ²⁸ They took soundings and found it to be twenty fathoms; and a little farther on they took soundings again and found it to be fifteen fathoms. ²⁹ Fearing that we might run aground somewhere on the rocks, they cast four anchors from the stern and prayed for daybreak. ³⁰ But as the sailors were trying to escape from the ship and had let down the lifeboat into the sea, on the pretense of laying out anchors from the bow, ³¹ Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved."

³¹ Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved." ³² Then the soldiers cut the ropes of the lifeboat and let it fall away. ³³ As day was about to dawn, Paul urged them all to take some food, saying, "Today is the fourteenth day that you have been in suspense and without food, having taken nothing. ³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take some food; it will give you strength, since not a hair is to perish from the head of any of you." ³⁵ Having said this, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of all, and he broke it and began to eat. ³⁶ Then they all were encouraged and ate some food themselves. ³⁷ All of us in the ship were two hundred and seventy-six persons. ³⁸ When they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship by throwing out the wheat into the sea.

⁴³ But the centurion, wanting to bring Paul safely through, kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land,

²⁰ He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,

⁴ They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.

⁹ and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name"; ¹⁰ and again it says: "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people!" ¹¹ and again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and praise him, all you peoples"; ¹² And again, Isaiah says: "There shall be a root of Jesse; and he who shall rise to rule over the Gentiles, in him the Gentiles shall hope." ¹³ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

²⁰ Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts,

⁵ Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?

²⁵ the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so, he will fall on his face, and worship God, declaring that God is really among you.

²⁰ But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

¹⁶ From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a fleshly point of view; even though we once regarded Christ from a fleshly point of view, we regard him thus no longer.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty you might become rich.

²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent in the open sea. ²⁶ I have been on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, in danger from robbers, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles, in danger in the city, in danger in the wilderness, in danger at sea, and in danger from false brethren;

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

¹ And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,

⁵ even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

¹¹ Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called "Uncircumcision" by the so-called "Circumcision," which is performed in the flesh by human hands ¹² remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. ¹³ But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near in the blood of Christ. ¹⁴ For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

⁶ that is, how the Gentiles are fellow heirs and members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

¹⁴ For this reason it is said, "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

⁵ Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; ⁶ not in the way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

¹³ When you were dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our sins,

¹¹ Here there is no Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and free, but Christ is all, and in all.

²² Slaves, in everything obey those who are your masters according to the flesh, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.

¹ Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

⁵ This is evidence of God's righteous judgment, so that you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

² Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

³ who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

⁶ But she who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.

² Those who have believing masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brethren, but they must serve them all the better, because those who benefit by their service are believers and beloved. Teach and urge these duties.

⁹ Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not to talk back to them,

¹⁶ no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.

¹⁹ You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believeand shudder.

²⁴ He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

⁴ For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

¹⁷ These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm; for them the blackest darkness has been reserved.

⁶ And the angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, he has kept in eternal chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day,

¹³ wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him who overcomes, I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

⁶ from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand,

² He had a little scroll which was open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land,

¹² Rejoice then, O heavens and you that dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"

¹⁰ Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, "You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

¹ Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key of the abyss and a great chain. ² And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,

⁷ When the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison

⁸ I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me. ⁹ But he said to me, "Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."
