1 When Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
2 "You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."
3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
4 and they plotted to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.
5 But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a riot among the people."
6 Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,
7 a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive perfume, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table.
8 But when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste?
9 For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and given to the poor."
10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me.
11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
12 For in pouring this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.
13 Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her."
14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.
17 Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"
18 He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, my time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.'"
19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
20 When evening had come, he sat at the table with the twelve.
21 And as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me."
22 And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?"
23 He answered, "He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me.
24 The Son of Man goes just as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born."
25 Then Judas, who was betraying him, answered, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."
26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is my body."
27 Then he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.
28 For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."
30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Then Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away because of me this night; for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'
32 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."
33 Peter declared to him, "Even if all fall away because of you, I will never fall away."
34 Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."
35 Peter said to him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples.
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled.
38 Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me."
39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, "O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."
40 Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, so that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
42 Again, a second time, he went away and prayed, "O my Father, if this cup cannot pass away unless I drink it, your will be done."
43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
44 So he left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand."
47 While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
48 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I kiss is the man; seize him."
49 And at once he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.
50 Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.
51 And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
52 But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
53 Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 But how then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this way?"
55 At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me.
56 But all this has taken place, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook him and fled.
57 And those who had seized Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled.
58 But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the end.
59 Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death,
60 but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward
61 and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'"
62 And the high priest stood up and said, "Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?"
63 But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God."
64 Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. But I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."
65 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard his blasphemy.
66 What do you think?" They answered, "He is worthy of death."
67 Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists; and others slapped him,
68 saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck you?"
69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee."
70 But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about."
71 And when he went out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth."
72 But again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man!"
73 After a little while those who stood by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you are also one of them, for your accent betrays you."
74 Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed.
75 And Peter remembered the word Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." So he went out and wept bitterly.

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He who believes in him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 5:18-25
18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, the Son also does.
20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does; and he will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom he will.
22 For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,

49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh."
52 Then the Jews began to argue among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me will live because of me.
58 This is the bread which came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread will live for ever."

49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all!

49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all!
50 You do not understand that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish."
51 He did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,
52 and not for that nation only, but also that he would gather together into one the children of God who were scattered abroad.
53 So from that day on they plotted to put him to death.

24 Simon Peter motioned to him and said, "Ask who it is of whom he speaks."
25 Then, leaning back on the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?"

12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name the name you gave me. I have guarded them, and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

6 When he said to them, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground.
7 Again he asked them, "Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
8 Jesus answered, "I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go."

9 This happened so that the words which he had spoken would be fulfilled, "Of those whom you gave me I have lost none."
10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

17 Then the girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not."
18 Now the servants and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.
19 The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching.
20 Jesus answered him, "I have spoken openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together, and I have said nothing in secret.

23 Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken wrongly, bear witness to the wrong; but if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?"
24 Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

25 Now Simon Peter stood warming himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it and said, "I am not."
26 One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?"
27 Peter again denied it; and at once a rooster crowed.

1 After this Jesus showed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way he showed himself:
2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together.
3 Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We will go with you." They went out and got into the boat; but that night they caught nothing.
4 But early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
5 Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No."
6 He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
7 Then that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and threw himself into the sea.
8 But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, but about a hundred yards off.
9 When they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish lying on it, and bread.
10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught."
11 Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net ashore, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.
12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." Now none of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.
13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.
14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."

16 He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

3 we acknowledge this in every way and everywhere, most excellent Felix, with all gratitude.
4 But, that I may not weary you further, I beg you in your kindness to hear us briefly.
5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
6 He even tried to desecrate the temple; so we seized him.
7 (...)8 By examining him yourself you will be able to learn the truth about all these charges of which we accuse him."
9 The Jews also joined in the attack, asserting that these things were so.

10 For God is not so unjust as to forget your work and the love which you have shown for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.
Hebrews 9:14-22
14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15 For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.
16 For where a will is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.
17 For a will is in force only when somebody has died, since it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.
18 This is why even the first covenant was not ratified without blood.
19 For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
20 saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you."
21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels used in worship.
22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9:28
28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Hebrews 10:4-14
4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure.
7 Then I said, 'Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,' as it is written of me in the roll of the book."
8 When he said above, "You did not desire, nor did you take pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law),
9 then he said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first in order to establish the second.
10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But when he had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
13 waiting from that time until his enemies be made a stool for his feet.
14 For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.

4 As you come to him, the living Stone rejected by men but chosen and precious in the sight of God
5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 For it stands in scripture: "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and he who believes in him will not be put to shame."
7 To you therefore who believe, this is precious, but for those who do not believe, "The very stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,"
8 and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall;" they stumble because they disobey the wordas they were desstined to do.
