¹³ Then little children were brought to him that he might put his hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.

²² Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him saying, "Never, Lord! This shall never happen to you!"

² He called to him a little child, and put him in the midst of them, ³ and he said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. ⁵ Whoever receives one little child like this in my name receives me.

³¹ The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be quiet; but they cried out all the more, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

¹³ And they were bringing children to him, that he might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. ¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, "Let the little children come to me; and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. ¹⁵ Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will not enter it." ¹⁶ And he took them in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

⁴⁹ Now John answered, "Master, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him, for he that is not against you is for you."

⁵⁴ And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?" ⁵⁵ But he turned and rebuked them,

³⁹ For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, for all whom the Lord our God will call to himself."

¹⁴ For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, but as it is they are holy.
