³⁸ They said, "Look, Lord, here are two swords." And he said to them, "It is enough."

⁵² But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. ⁵³ Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? ⁵⁴ But how then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen in this way?"

⁴⁹ When those around him saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?"

³⁶ Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now my kingship is not from here."

³ For though we live in the flesh, we do not wage war as the flesh does. ⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds.

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. ¹¹ Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ¹² For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ in addition to all this, taking up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. ¹⁸ Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and petition. And with this in view, keep alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

⁸ But, since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. ⁹ But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren throughout the world.
