¹ "Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.

²³ that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

²⁵ Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live; ²⁶ and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" ²⁷ She said to him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."

³³ When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

²⁷ "Now is my soul troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, for this purpose I came to this hour.

⁴⁴ Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.

¹⁹ Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does take place, you may believe that I am he.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. ²⁸ You have heard me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for the Father is greater than I.

³ And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.

⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.

²² So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. ²³ In that day you will ask me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.

¹⁵ but killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. ¹⁶ And his name, by faith in his name, has made this man strong whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Jesus has given him perfect health in the presence of you all.

⁷ so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.

⁸ We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always carrying about in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹² in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of his glory. ¹³ In him, you also have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having also believed, you were sealed in him with the promised Holy Spirit,

¹⁵ For this reason, ever since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

¹⁴ For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, ¹⁵ from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, ¹⁶ that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner man, ¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

³ so that no one would be unsettled by these afflictions. You yourselves know that we have been destined for this. ⁴ For indeed when we were with you, we kept telling you in advance that we were going to suffer affliction; and so it came to pass, as you know.

² not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

¹² Therefore lift your feeble hands and strengthen your weak knees, ¹³ and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.

²¹ Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

²³ No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. ²⁴ Let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

¹⁰ He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
