¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

⁵¹ Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them, but his mother kept all these things in her heart.

¹² So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.

² Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

⁵ Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; ⁶ not in the way of eye-service, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. ²¹ Fathers, do not provoke your children, or they will become discouraged. ²² Slaves, in everything obey those who are your masters according to the flesh, not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. ²³ Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, ²⁴ knowing that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. ²⁵ For he who does wrong will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

⁴ But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice their religion in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.

¹³ Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the supreme authority,
