¹⁶ Yahweh said to Moses:Do gather to me seventy men from the elders of Israel of whom you know that they are elders of the people and their superintendents, and take them to the tent of appointment that they station themselves there with you.

¹⁵ So I took the heads of your tribes, men wise and known, and I placed them as heads over you, chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties, chiefs of tens and as superintendents for your tribes. ¹⁶ And I instructed your judges at that time, saying:You are to hear the disputes between your brothers, and you will judge justly between a man and his brother or his sojourner.

¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and superintendents for yourselves in all your gates which Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you for your tribes; and they will judge the people with just judgment. ¹⁹ You shall not turn aside the judgment; you shall neither recognize faces in partiality nor take a bribe, for the bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the words of the righteous.

³ And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David makes with them a covenant in Hebron before Yahweh, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

³ He said--the Elohim of Israel--to me, He spoke--the Rock of Israel:He who is ruling over man [is] righteous, He is ruling in the fear of Elohim.

⁶ and said unto the judges, `See what you are doing--for not for man do you judge, but for Yahweh, who [is] with you in the matter of judgment;" ⁷ and now, let fear of Yahweh be upon you, observe and do, for there is not with Yahweh our Elohim perverseness, and acceptance of faces, and taking of a bribe..

³ And His scent is in the fear of Yahweh. And not by the sight of His eyes will He judge, and not by the hearing of His ears will He correct." ⁴ Yet He will judge with righteousness the poor, and correct with equity for the humble of the land. And He will smite the earth with the club of His mouth, and with the spirit of His lips will He put to death the wicked." ⁵ And it comes that righteousness is the belt of His waist, and faithfulness the band of His loins."

¹ Behold! For justice, a king shall reign, and chiefs for judgment shall control."

⁵ Lo, days are coming--an affirmation of Yahweh, And I have raised to David a righteous shoot, And a king has reigned and acted wisely, And done judgment and righteousness in the earth." ⁶ In his days is Judah saved, and Israel dwells confidently, And this his name that Yahweh proclaims him, `Our Righteousness.'"

³ Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered in the courtyard of the chief priest, who is termed Caiaphas,

¹ Now, morning coming on, all the chief priests and the elders of the people held a consultation against Jesus, so as to put Him to death."

⁵⁰ And lo! a man named Joseph, belonging to the counselors, and a good man and just" ⁵¹ (he has not concurred in their counsel and what they had committed), from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, and who also himself anticipated the kingdom of God-"

²¹ Now, hearing this, they entered into the sanctuary in the early morning and taught. Now the chief priest and those with him, coming along, call together the Sanhedrin and the entire senate of the sons of Israel, and they dispatch to the prison to have them led forth."
