¹³ She held him fast and kissed him; She set her face with impudence and said to him:

⁷ And coming is it after these things, that lifting is the wife of his lord her eyes to Joseph and is saying, "Lie with me.

¹ While Israel dwelt in Shittim, the people started to commit prostitution with the daughters of Moab,

⁶ Behold, a man from the sons of Israel was coming in, and he brought near to his brothers a Midianite woman before the eyes of Moses and before the eyes of the whole congregation of the sons of Israel while they were lamenting at the opening of the tent of appointment. ⁷ When Phineas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he arose from the midst of the congregation and took a lance in his hand. ⁸ He came after the man of Israel to the alcove and stabbed the two of them, the man of Israel and the woman, into her pelvis. Then the stroke was restrained from the sons of Israel.

¹⁶ Behold, they, by the word of Balaam, came to be for the sons of Israel the reason for a withdrawal from and an offense against Yahweh in the matter of Peor, so that the stroke came to be in the congregation of Yahweh.

²⁹ A wicked man sets his face with impudence, Yet an upright man, he establishes his way."

⁷ And my Lord Yahweh is helping me. Therefore, I am not confounded. Therefore I set my face as a flint, and know that I shall not be shamed."

⁴ And the sons [are] brazen-faced and hard-hearted to whom I am sending you, and you have said unto them:Thus said the Lord Yahweh:"

⁶ `And you, son of man, you are not afraid of them, yea, of their words you are not afraid, for briers and thorns are with you, and near scorpions you are dwelling, of their words you are not afraid, and of their faces you are not affrighted, for they [are] a rebellious house,

⁷ but the house of Israel are not willing to hearken unto you, for they are not willing to hearken unto Me, for all the house of Israel are brazen-faced and strong-hearted." ⁸ `Lo, I have made your face strong against their face, and your forehead strong against their forehead." ⁹ As an adamant harder than a rock I have made your forehead; you do not fear them, nor are you affrighted before them, for a rebellious house [are] they.'"

³³ To all whores they give a gift, And--you have given your gifts to all your lovers, And do bribe them to come in unto you, From round about--in your whoredoms."

²⁰ But I have much against you, seeing that you pardon that woman of yours, Jezebel, who says that she is a prophetess, and is teaching and deceiving My slaves so as to commit prostitution and to be eating idol sacrifices."
