¹³ Seizing the wise in their craftiness, So that their cunning counsel is carried headlong.

³¹ and David declared, saying, `Ahithophel [is] among the conspirators with Absalom;' and David said, `Make foolish, I pray You, the counsel of Ahithophel, O Yahweh..

³⁴ and if to the city you do turn back, and have said to Absalom, Your servant I am, O king; servant of your father I [am] also hitherto, and now, I [am] also your servant; then you have made void for me the counsel of Ahithophel;"

²³ And Ahithophel has seen that his counsel was not done, and he saddles the ass, and rises and goes unto his house, unto his city, and gives charge unto his household, and strangles himself, and dies, and he is buried in the burying-place of his father.

⁴ Then the king asked:Who is in the court? (Now Haman had just entered the court outside the king's house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.. ⁵ The king's retainers replied to him:Here is Haman standing in the court. So the king commanded:Let him enter. ⁶ When Haman came in, the king asked him:What ought to be done for the man in whose esteem the king has taken a delight? Now Haman said in his heart:To whom but me would the king desire to confer superlative esteem? ⁷ So Haman said to the king:For the man in whose esteem the king has taken a delight, ⁸ let them bring out royal garment with which the king has clothed himself, and a horse on which the king has ridden, with the royal diadem that has been placed on its head. ⁹ Then may the garment and horse be put at the hand of one of the king's highborn chief officials, and let him clothe the man in whose esteem the king has taken a delight, and parade him on the horse in the city square, while proclaiming before him:Thus is it done to the man in whose esteem the king has taken a delight. ¹⁰ Then the king commanded Haman:Make haste and take the garment and the horse, just as you have said, and deal in this way with Mordecai the Jew who is sitting in the king's gateway. You must not omit anything of all that you have spoken. ¹¹ So Haman took the garment and the horse, clothed Mordecai and paraded him in the city square while he proclaimed before him:Thus is it done to the man in whose esteem the king has taken a delight.

¹⁰ Then they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's fury subsided.

²⁵ But when it came before the king, he ordered with a letter that his evil devising that he had devised against the Jews should get back on his own head; and so they hanged him and his sons on the gallows.

¹⁵ He has dug a crypt and delved it deep. Yet he shall fall into the grave he has made. ¹⁶ His toil shall turn back upon his head, And his wrong shall descend on his scalp.

¹⁵ The nations are sunk in the grave they have made; Their foot is seized in the net that they have buried. ¹⁶ Yahweh is known by the judgment He executes; The wicked are trapped by the deed of His palms. {Chant, Interlude{ "

²⁶ With the purified one You show Yourself pure, But with the perverse one You show Yourself cunning."

⁷ For gratuitously have they buried their net for me; Gratuitously have they delved a grave for my soul. ⁸ May ruination come upon him when he is not knowing it, And may his net that he has buried seize him; Let him fall into it to ruination."

³² For the devious man is an abhorrence to Yahweh, Yet His intimacy is with the upright."

⁵¹ He does mightily with His arm, He scatters the proud in the comprehension of their hearts,

¹⁹ For it is written, I shall be destroying the wisdom of the wise, and the understanding of the intelligent shall I be repudiating." ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the discusser of this eon? Does not God make stupid the wisdom of this world?

¹⁹ for the wisdom of this world is stupidity with God. For it is written, "He is clutching the wise in their craftiness."
