Isaiah 50:1 Cross References - CLV

¹ Thus says Yahweh, "Where is this scroll of divorce of your mother, with which I let her go? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I sold you? Behold! For your depravities were you sold, and for your transgressions was your mother sent away."

⁷ When a man sells his daughter as a maidservant, she shall not go forth as the male servants go forth.

³⁹ In case your brother who is beside you is reduced to poverty and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve the service of a servant.

¹ When a man takes a wife and possesses her, and it comes to be that she should not find favor in his eyes, because he has found in her the nakedness of anything, then he would write for her a scroll of divorce, give it into her hand and send her away from his house. ² When she goes forth from his house, goes and becomes another man's, ³ and the man (the latter one) dislikes her, then he would write for her a scroll of divorce, give it into her hand and send her away from his house. Or when the man should die (the latter one who took her to himself as a wife), ⁴ then her possessor (the former one who had sent her away) shall not be able to reverse himself to take her back to become his wife after she had had herself defiled, for that is an abhorrence before Yahweh. You shall not bring about sin in the land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you as an allotment.

³⁰ How could one pursue a thousand or two put a myriad to flight, if it were not that their Rock had sold them, and Yahweh had surrounded them?

²⁵ surely there has none been like Ahab, who sold himself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, whom Jezebel his wife has moved,

¹ And a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets has cried unto Elisha, saying, `Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you have known that your servant was fearing Yahweh, and the lender has come to take my two children to him for servants..

¹⁷ and cause their sons and their daughters to pass over through fire, and divine divinations, and use enchantments, and sell themselves to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, to provoke Him;"

⁵ and now, as the flesh of our brethren [is] our flesh, as their sons [are] our sons, and lo, we are subduing our sons and our daughters for servants, and there are of our daughters subdued, and our hand has no might, and our fields and our vineyards [are] to others..

⁴ For we have been sold, I and my people, to be exterminated, to be killed and to be destroyed. Now supposing we had been sold as male slaves and as maids, I would have kept silence, for it would not be appropriate to report such a distress, and cause trouble to the king.

¹² You sell Your people, yet not for wealth; Nor are You increased by the price for them."

³ For thus says Yahweh, "Gratuitously were you sold, and not with silver shall you be redeemed."

¹ Behold! The hand of Yahweh is not too short to save! And His ear is not too heavy to hear! ² But rather your depravities become a separation between you and your Elohim. And your sins conceal His face from you, from hearing you."

¹ Saying, `Lo, one sends away his wife, And she has gone from him, And she has been to another man, Does he turn back unto her again? Greatly defiled is not that land? And you have committed whoredom with many lovers, And turn again to Me, an affirmation of Yahweh."

⁸ And I see when (for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery) I have sent her away, and I give the bill of her divorce unto her, that treacherous Judah her sister has not feared, and goes and commits fornication--she also."

¹⁸ Your way and your doings have done these to you, This [is] your vexation, for [it is] bitter, For it has struck unto your heart."

² Contend with your mother, contend, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. And she shall take away the signs of her prostitutions from her face, and of her adulteries from between her breasts, ³ lest I should strip her naked and put her forth as on the day of her birth and make her as a wilderness and set her as an arid land and put her to death with thirst. ⁴ And on her sons I am not having compassion, for sons of prostitution are they."

²⁵ Now, at his not having wherewith to pay, the lord orders him to be disposed of, and his wife and children and all, whatever he has, and payment to be made."

⁴ Yet they say, "Moses permits us to write a scroll of divorce, and to dismiss her." ⁵ And answering, Jesus said to them, "In view of your hardheartedness he writes for you this precept." ⁶ Yet from the beginning of creation God makes them male and female. ⁷ On this account a man will be leaving his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, ⁸ and the two will be one flesh. So that no longer are they two, but one flesh." ⁹ What God, then, yokes together, let not man be separating." ¹⁰ And, in the house, again His disciples inquired of Him concerning this." ¹¹ And He is saying to them, "Whosoever should be dismissing his wife and should be marrying another is committing adultery against her." ¹² And if she, dismissing her husband, should ever be marrying another, she is committing adultery."
