²² And falcons will respond in their citadels, and jackals in the delicate palaces. And near to come is her era, and her days shall not be protracted further."

³⁵ for the day of vengeance and repayment, for the season when their foot shall slip? For the day of their calamity is near, and impending doom hurries upon them.

² For you make of a city, a mound, a fortress town into a fallen heap, a citadel of the arrogant to be no city any more. It shall not be rebuilt for an eon."

¹³ And briars shall come up in its citadels, the sting nettle and the thistle in its fortresses. And it becomes a homestead of jackals, and a court for the ostrich."

⁷ And the seared sink becomes a pond, and the thirsty land has fonts of water. In the homestead of jackals shall be a morass, an environ for reed and papyrus."

³³ For thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, The daughter of Babylon [is] as a threshing-floor, The time of her threshing--yet a little, And come has the time of her harvest."

⁷ Come has the morning unto you, O inhabitant of the land! Come has the time, near [is] a day of trouble, And not the shouting of mountains." ⁸ Now, shortly I pour out My fury on you, And have completed Mine anger against you, And judged you according to your ways, And set against you all your abominations." ⁹ And not pity does Mine eye, nor do I spare, According to your ways unto you I give, And your abominations are in your midst, And you have known that I [am] Yahweh the smiter." ¹⁰ Lo, the day, lo, it has come, Gone forth has the morning, Blossomed has the rod, flourished the pride."

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time; and it will bud at the end, and will not lie dormant. If it be dallying, tarry for it, for it will surely come, and it will not delay."

³ and in greed, with suave words, they will traffic in you, whose judgment of old is not idling, and their destruction is not nodding."

⁹ The Lord is not tardy as to the promise, as some are deeming tardiness, but is patient because of you, not intending any to perish, but all to make room for repentance." ¹⁰ Now the day of the Lord will be arriving as a thief, in which the heavens shall be passing by with a booming noise, yet the elements shall be dissolved by combustion, and the earth and the works in it shall be found."
