¹⁴ and my hand is finding, as a nest, the estate of the peoples, and, as one gathers forsaken eggs, the entire earth do I gather. And no one comes to be ruffling a wing, or opening wide the mouth and chirping."

²⁵ If I have rejoiced that my estate is vast And that my hand has found abundance,

¹² The heart of a man is haughty before a breaking, Yet humility comes before glory."

⁶ The contriving together of treasures by a false tongue Is a vanity whisked away for those seeking death. ⁷ The devastation of the wicked shall turn against them, For they refuse to execute right judgment."

⁸ Woe to those touching house to house, bringing field near to field unto the limits of a place! That from an associate they may withdraw it, and it causes you to dwell all alone within the land!"

¹⁶ Your terribleness has lifted you up, The pride of your heart, O dweller in clefts of the rock, Holding the high place of the height, For you make high as an eagle your nest, From thence I bring you down, An affirmation of Yahweh."

⁷ Ephraim is a trafficker; in his hand are scales of deceit; he loves to extort. ⁸ And Ephraim is saying, Yea, I am rich; I find virility for myself; all is my labor. They will not find with me depravity which is sin."

⁴ If you are elevated as the vulture, and if your nest is placed between the stars, thence will I bring you down (averring is Yahweh)."

⁹ Plunder the silver! Plunder the gold! There is no end to her established treasures, the glory of all her coveted furnishings."

⁵ And, indeed, seeing that the wine is treacherous; the master is ostentatious, and he is not resting, who widens his soul as the unseen, and he is as death and is not satisfied. And he is gathering to him all the nations, and he is convening to him all the peoples." ⁶ Shall not these, all of them, take up a proverb against him, and mocking problems for him? And they will say:Woe to the one increasing what is not his! Till when? And to him making heavy his yoke with security!" ⁷ Will not those biting you rise in an instant, and those stirring you into a sweat awake, that you shall become robbed goods for them? ⁸ Seeing that you loot many nations, all the rest of the peoples will loot you because of human blood and the violence to the land, to the town and all dwelling in it." ⁹ Woe to him gaining an evil gain for his house in order to place his nest in the height, to be rescued from the clutch of evil!" ¹⁰ You counsel shame for your house to cut away many peoples, and are sinning against your soul, ¹¹ for the stone from the sidewall shall cry out, and the knot from the timber shall answer it."
