Ezekiel 19:1 Cross References - CLV

¹ And you, lift up a lamentation unto princes of Israel,

²⁹ In his days has Pharaoh-Nechoh king of Egypt come up against the king of Asshur, by the river Phrat, and king Josiah goes out to meet him, and he puts him to death in Megiddo, when he sees him. ³⁰ And his servants cause him to ride dying from Megiddo, and bring him in to Jerusalem, and bury him in his own grave, and the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and anoint him, and cause him to reign instead of his father.

³⁴ And Pharaoh-Nechoh causes Eliakim son of Josiah to reign instead of Josiah his father, and turns his name to Jehoiakim, and Jehoahaz he has taken away, and he comes in to Egypt, and dies there.

⁶ And Jehoiakim lies with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigns in his stead.

¹² and Jehoiachin king of Judah goes out unto the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his chiefs, and his eunuchs, and the king of Babylon takes him in the eighth year of his reign,

⁵ And the force of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake him in the plains of Jericho, and all his force have been scattered from him;" ⁶ and they seize the king, and bring him up unto the king of Babylon, to Riblah, and they speak with him--judgment. ⁷ And the sons of Zedekiah they have slaughtered before his eyes, and the eyes of Zedekiah he has blinded, and binds him with brazen fetters, and they bring him to Babylon.

²⁵ and Jeremiah laments for Josiah, and all the singers and the songstresses speak in their lamentations of Josiah unto this day, and set them for a statute on Israel, and lo, they are written beside the lamentations.

³ and turn him aside does the king of Egypt in Jerusalem, and fines the land a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold;"

⁶ against him has Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon come up, and binds him in brazen fetters to take him away to Babylon.

¹⁰ and at the turn of the year has king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brings him in to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of Yahweh, and causes Zedekiah his brother to reign over Judah and Jerusalem.

¹ Who does make my head waters, And mine eye a fountain of tears? And I weep by day and by night, For the wounded of the daughter of my people."

¹⁰ For the mountains I lift up weeping and wailing, And for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, For they have been burnt up without any passing over, Nor have they heard the voice of cattle, From the fowl of the heavens unto the beast they have fled, they have gone."

¹⁷ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts:Consider you, and call for mourning women, And they come, And to the wise women send, and they come, ¹⁸ And they hasten, and lift up for us a wailing. And run down our eyes do tears, And from our eyelids do waters flow."

¹⁷ And if you do not hear it, In secret places does my soul weep, because of pride, Yea, it weeps sore, And the tear comes down mine eyes, For the flock of Yahweh has been taken captive." ¹⁸ Say to the king and to the mistress:Make yourselves low--sit still, For come down have your principalities, The crown of your beauty."

¹⁰ You do not weep for the dead, nor bemoan for him, Weep you sore for the traveller, For he does not return again, Nor has he seen the land of his birth." ¹¹ For thus said Yahweh concerning Shallum son of Josiah king of Judah, who is reigning instead of Josiah his father, who has gone forth from this place:He does not turn back hither again;" ¹² For in the place whither they have removed him he dies, And this land he does not see again."

¹⁸ Therefore, thus said Yahweh concerning Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:They do not lament for him, Ah, my brother, and Ah, sister, They do not lament for him, Ah, lord, and Ah, his honor." ¹⁹ The burial of an ass--he is buried, Dragged and cast out thence to the gates of Jerusalem."

²⁸ A grief--a despised broken thing--is this man Coniah? A vessel in which there is no pleasure? Wherefore have they been cast up and down, He and his seed, Yea, they were cast on to a land that they knew not?

³⁰ Thus said Yahweh:Write you this man childless, A man--he does not prosper in his days, For none of his seed does prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling again in Judah!"

¹ Yahweh has showed me, and lo, two baskets of figs, appointed before the temple of Yahweh, --after the removing by Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, of Jeconiah, son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the heads of Judah, and the artisan, and the smith, from Jerusalem, when he brings them into Babylon--"

⁸ And like the bad figs, that are not eaten for badness, Surely thus said Yahweh:So do I make Zedekiah king of Judah, And his heads, and the remnant of Jerusalem, Who are left in this land, And who are dwelling in the land of Egypt,

¹⁰ And the king of Babylon slaughters the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also all the princes of Judah has he slaughtered in Riblah;" ¹¹ and the eyes of Zedekiah he has blinded, and he binds him in brazen fetters, and the king of Babylon brings him to Babylon, and puts him in the house of inspection unto the day of his death."

²⁵ and out of the city he has taken a certain eunuch, who has been inspector over the men of war, and seven men of those seeing the king's face, who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host, who musters the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land, who are found in the midst of the city;" ²⁶ and Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, takes them, and brings them unto the king of Babylon to Riblah, ²⁷ and the king of Babylon smites them, and puts them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removes Judah from off its own ground."

²⁰ The spirit of our nostrils, the anointed of Yahweh, he is seized in their pits, Of whom we said:In his shadow we shall live among the nations."

¹² Chiefs are hung by their hands; the face of the old is not honored.

¹⁰ and He spreads it before me, and it is written in front and behind, and written on it [are] lamentations, and mourning, and woe!"

¹⁴ And go forth does fire from a rod of its boughs, Its fruit it has devoured, And it has no rod of strength--a sceptre to rule, Lamentation it [is] --and it is for a lamentation!'"

¹⁷ And have lifted up for you a lamentation, And said to you:How have you perished, That are inhabited from the seas, The praised city, that was strong in the sea, She and her inhabitants, Who put their terror on all her inhabitants!"

² `And you, son of man, lift up concerning Tyre a lamentation, and you have said to Tyre:"

³² And lifted up for you have their sons a lamentation, And they have lamented over you, who [is] as Tyre? As the cut-off one in the midst of the sea?

¹⁶ A lamentation it [is], and they have lamented her, Daughters of the nations do lament her, For Egypt, and for all her multitude, they lament her, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh.'"

¹⁸ `Son of man, Wail for the multitude of Egypt, And cause it to go down, It--and the daughters of honorable nations, Unto the earth--the lower parts, With those going down to the pit."
