¹ Then Moses concluded by speaking these words to all Israel ² and saying to them:I am a hundred and twenty years old today. No longer am I able to go forth or to come in. And Yahweh has said to me:You shall not cross over this Jordan. ³ Yahweh your Elohim, He is crossing over before you; He Himself shall exterminate these nations from before you, and you will tenant in their place. Joshua, he is crossing over before you just as Yahweh has spoken, ⁴ and Yahweh will do to them just as He did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorite, and to their country, those whom He exterminated. ⁵ Yahweh will give them up before you, and you must deal with them according to all the instructions which I have enjoined on you. ⁶ Be steadfast, and be resolute! Do not fear, and do not be terrified because of their presence, for Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One going with you; He shall neither neglect you nor forsake you. ⁷ Moses called to Joshua and said to him before the eyes of all Israel:Be steadfast and be resolute, for you shall bring this people into the land about which Yahweh had sworn to their fathers to give to them, and you shall allot it to them. ⁸ As for Yahweh, He is the One going before you; He Himself shall come to be with you. He shall neither neglect you nor forsake you. You shall neither fear nor be dismayed. ⁹ Then Moses wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, the carriers of the coffer of the covenant of Yahweh, and to all the elders of Israel. ¹⁰ And Moses instructed them saying:At the end of seven years, at the appointment of the year of release, at the celebration of booths, ¹¹ when all Israel comes to appear before Yahweh your Elohim in the place that He shall choose, you shall read this law in front of all Israel in their ears. ¹² Assemble the people, the men, the women, the little ones and your sojourner who is within your gates, that they may hear and that they may learn:they must fear Yahweh your Elohim and must observe to keep all the words of this law. ¹³ And their sons, who have not known it, they shall hear; they too must learn to fear Yahweh your Elohim all the days that you are alive on the ground where you are crossing over the Jordan to tenant it. ¹⁴ Then Yahweh said to Moses:Behold, near are your days to die. Call Joshua and station yourselves in the tent of appointment, that I may instruct him. So Moses and Joshua went and stationed themselves in the tent of appointment. ¹⁵ Then Yahweh appeared at the tent in a column of cloud; and the column of cloud stood over the opening of the tent. ¹⁶ Yahweh said to Moses:Behold, you are about to lie with your fathers. Yet this people will rise and prostitute after the elohim of the foreigners of the land where they are entering to be among them; and they will forsake Me and annul My covenant that I contracted with them. ¹⁷ My anger will grow hot against them on that day, and I will forsake them and conceal My face from them; then they will come to be devoured, and many evils and distresses will find them. Then they will say on that day:Is it not because our Elohim is not among us that these evils have found us? ¹⁸ Yet I shall conceal, yea conceal My face from them on that day on account of all the evil which they will have done, for they will have turned around to other elohim. ¹⁹ And now, write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the sons of Israel. Put it in their mouths so that this song may come to be for Me as a testimony against the sons of Israel. ²⁰ When I shall bring them to the ground gushing with milk and honey about which I had sworn to their fathers, when they eat and are satisfied and are sleek so that they turn around to other elohim and serve them, when they thus spurn Me and annul My covenant, ²¹ and it comes to be that many evils and distresses find them, then this song will answer as a testimony before them (for it shall not be forgotten from the mouths of their seed) that I know the bent of their heart which they are forming today ere I bring them to the land about which I had sworn. ²² (Moses wrote this song on that day and taught it to the sons of Israel.) ²³ Then He instructed Joshua son of Nun and said:Be steadfast and be resolute! For you shall bring the sons of Israel to the land about which I had sworn to them; and I Myself shall come to be with you. ²⁴ It came to be as Moses concluded writing all the words of this law on a scroll until they were finished, ²⁵ that Moses instructed the Levites, the carriers of the coffer of the covenant of Yahweh, saying. ²⁶ You are to take this scroll of the law, and you must place it by the side of the coffer of the covenant of Yahweh your Elohim, and it will come to be there as a testimony against you, ²⁷ for I know your rebellion and your scruff of obstinacy. Behold in my day, while I am still with you alive, you have been rebellious against Yahweh, indeed, how much more so after my death!" ²⁸ Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your superintendents, and let me speak in their ears all these words, and let me summon the heavens and the earth to testify against them. ²⁹ For I know that after my death you shall bring ruin, yea ruin on yourselves; you will withdraw from the way that I enjoined on you, and the evil visitation will befall you in the latter days, for you shall do the thing that is evil in the eyes of Yahweh so as to provoke Him to vexation by the work of your hands. ³⁰ Then Moses spoke in the ears of the whole assembly of Israel the words of this song until they were finished.

⁵ And seeing is Yahweh Elohim that much is the evil of humanity in the earth, and every form of the devices of its heart is but evil all its days.

²⁸ I will send the hornet before you, and it will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite and the Hittite from before you. ²⁹ I shall not drive them out from before you in one year lest the land should become desolate, and the field animal be many against you. ³⁰ Little by little shall I drive them out from before you until you are fruitful and you are allotted the land. ³¹ And I will set your boundary from the Sea of Weeds unto the sea of the Philistines and from the wilderness unto the Stream, for I shall give into your hand the dwellers of the land, and you will drive them out from your presence. ³² You shall not contract a covenant with them or with their elohim. ³³ They shall not dwell in your land lest they should make you sin against Me so that you serve their elohim, and that it should come to be a trap for you.

⁶ So they rose early on the morrow and brought up ascent offerings and brought close peace offerings. And the people sat to eat and drank and rose to make fun.

⁸ They have withdrawn quickly from the way I instructed them. They have made for themselves a molten calf and bowed themselves down to it. They have sacrificed to it and said: These are your elohim, Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. ⁹ And Yahweh said to Moses: I have seen this people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.

² Be ready tomorrow morning, and you will ascend in the morning to Mount Sinai and station yourself for Me there on the summit of the mountain.

³ I Myself shall set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people (for he has given of his seed to Moloch) on account of the defilement of My sanctuary and the profanation of My holy name. ⁴ And if the people of the land should obscure, yea obscure their eyes from that man when he gives of his seed to Moloch, so as to avoid putting him to death, ⁵ then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family and will cut off from among their people him and all those prostituting after him, to prostitute after Moloch. ⁶ As for the soul who should countenance mediums and wizards to prostitute after them, I will set My face against that soul also and cut him off from among his people.

³⁴ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, From the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the celebration of booths seven days to Yahweh. ³⁵ On the first day is a holy meeting; you shall do no occupational work at all. ³⁶ Seven days shall you bring near a fire offering to Yahweh and on the eighth day there shall be a holy meeting for you, and you will bring near a fire offering to Yahweh. It is a day of restraint. You shall do no occupational work at all. ³⁷ These are the appointed seasons of Yahweh, those which you shall proclaim as holy meetings, to bring near the fire offering to Yahweh, the ascent offering and the approach present, the sacrifice and the libations, each day's matter in its day, ³⁸ aside from the sabbaths of Yahweh and aside from your gifts and aside from all your vows and aside from all your voluntary offerings which you shall give to Yahweh. ³⁹ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month after you have gathered the yield of the land, you shall celebrate the celebration of Yahweh for seven days. On the first day there is a cessation and on the eighth day a cessation. ⁴⁰ You will take for yourselves on the first day fruit of goodly trees, fronds of palms and boughs of leafy trees, and oleanders of the watercourse, and you will rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim for seven days. ⁴¹ You will celebrate it as a celebration to Yahweh for seven days in the year. It shall be an eonian statute throughout your generations. In the seventh month shall you celebrate it. ⁴² In booths shall you dwell seven days, that is, every native in Israel; they shall dwell in booth. ⁴³ that your generations may know that in booths I made the sons of Israel dwell when I brought them forth from the land of Egypt:I, Yahweh, am your Elohim.

When you will be gathered into your cities then I will send the plague into your midst, and you will be given into the hand of the enemy. ²⁶ When I break the stock of bread for you then ten women will bake your bread in one stove and return your bread by weight so that you will eat and not be satisfied. ²⁷ If by this you should not hearken to Me and go contrary to Me, ²⁸ then I will go contrary to you in fury. And I Myself, indeed, will discipline you sevenfold for your sins. ²⁹ You will eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat. ³⁰ I will exterminate your fane heights, cut down your incense stands and bestow your corpses upon the corpses of your idol clods; thus My soul will loathe you. ³¹ I will turn your cities into a desert and make your sanctuary desolate; I shall not smell your fragrant odor. ³² I will make the land so desolate, that your enemies, the ones dwelling in it, will be dejected over it. ³³ And you I shall winnow among the nations, and I will unsheathe a sword after you so that your land will become a desolation and your cities become a desert. ³⁴ Then the land shall accept its sabbaths all the days of its desolation when you are in the land of your enemies. Then the land shall pause for a sabbath and cause its missing sabbaths to be accepted. ³⁵ All the days of its desolation it shall pause for a sabbath, which days it did not pause in your sabbath years when you dwelt on it. ³⁶ As for the remainder among you, I will also bring timidity into their heart in the lands of their enemies so that the sound of a leaf being whisked away will pursue them, and they will flee as if in flight from the sword; they will fall even when there is no one pursuing. ³⁷ They will stumble, a man over his brother, as though in view of the sword when there is no pursuer, and you shall come to have no standing space before your enemies. ³⁸ You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will devour you. ³⁹ The remainder among you shall be putrid over their depravity in the lands of your enemies, and also over the depravities of their fathers with them shall they be putrid. ⁴⁰ If they will confess their depravity and the depravity of their fathers in their offense (when they had offended Me and, indeed, when they had gone contrary to M. ⁴¹ so that I Myself also went contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies), if then their uncircumcised heart should submit, and if then they should accept their depravity, ⁴² then I will remember My covenant with Jacob and also My covenant with Isaac; also My covenant with Abraham shall I remember, and the land shall I remember. ⁴³ Yet the land, it shall be forsaken of them and shall accept its sabbath years while it is desolate without them, and they themselves shall accept their depravity because, yes because they had rejected My judgments and their soul had loathed My statutes. ⁴⁴ Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies I will not reject them nor loathe them so as to finish them, to annul My covenant with them, for I, Yahweh, am their Elohim. ⁴⁵ For their benefit I will remember the covenant with the former ones whom I brought forth from the land of Egypt before the eyes of the nations to be their Elohim; I am Yahweh. ⁴⁶ These are the statutes, the judgments and the laws which Yahweh put between Him and the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai by means of Moses.

¹⁵ When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy things with all the furnishings of the holy things when the camp is to journey, then afterward the sons of Kohath shall come to carry it. Yet they shall not touch the holy things lest they die. These are the load of the sons of Kohath in the tent of appointment.

¹⁶ Yahweh said to Moses:Do gather to me seventy men from the elders of Israel of whom you know that they are elders of the people and their superintendents, and take them to the tent of appointment that they station themselves there with you. ¹⁷ I will descend and speak with you there; and I will divert some of the spirit which is on you and place it on them. They will bear the load of the people with you so that you are not bearing it by yourself alone.

⁹ Only against Yahweh do not revolt, and you, do not fear the people of the land, for they are our bread. Their protecting shadow has withdrawn from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Do not fear them.

Israel also dwelt in all the cities of the Amorite, in Heshbon and in all its outskirts, ²⁶ for Heshbon, it was a city of Sihon king of the Amorite. He had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land from his hand as far as the Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore those discoursers say:Come to Heshbon, let it be rebuilt, and let the city of Sihon establish itself. ²⁸ For a fire came forth from Heshbon, a blaze from the town of Sihon. It devoured Ar of Moab, the possessors of the fane heights of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You have perished, people of Chemosh! He gave up his sons delivered from slaughter, and his daughters into captivity to Sihon, king of the Amorite. ³⁰ We shot them; Heshbon perished as far as Dibon; we caused desolation until the fire was blown as far as Medeba. ³¹ When Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorite, ³² Moses sent men to spy out Jazer. They seized its outskirts and evicted the Amorite who was there. ³³ Then they turned around and went up by the Bashan road. Og king of Bashan went forth to meet them, he and all his people, for battle at Edrei. ³⁴ Now Yahweh said to Moses:Do not fear him, for into your hand I give him and all his people and his land. You will do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorite who was dwelling in Heshbon. ³⁵ So they smote him and his sons and all his people until no survivor at all remained for him; and they tenanted his land.

By the stocks of your fathers shall you entail among yourselves. ⁵⁵ Yet if you should not evict the dwellers of the land from your presence, then those whom you are leaving of them will become barbs in your eyes and pricks in your sides, and they will distress you in the land in which you are dwelling. ⁵⁶ And it will come to be:just as I meant to do to them, I shall do to you.

There was not a town which we did not take from them, sixty cities, the whole district of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ⁵ All these cities were defended by lofty walls, doors and bars, aside from the unwalled villages which were exceedingly numerous. ⁶ And we doomed them just as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, dooming every city--adult males, women and little ones. ⁷ All the domestic beasts and the loot of the cities we plundered for ourselves. ⁸ At that time we took the area from the hand of the two kings of the Amorite who were in Transjordan, from the watercourse of Arnon as far as Mount Hermo. ⁹ (the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorite call it Shenir), ¹⁰ all the cities of the tableland and all Gilead and all Bashan as far as Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. ¹¹ (For only Og king of Bashan had remained of the rest of the Rephaim. Do not continue to speak to Me further on this matter. ²⁷ Ascend to the summit of the Pisgah ridge, and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward and see with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan. ²⁸ Yet instruct Joshua and encourage him and make him resolute, for he shall cross over before this people, and he shall allot to them the land that you shall see.

I am not crossing over the Jordan, but you are crossing over and will tenant that good land.

²⁶ I testify against you today by the heavens and the earth, that you shall perish, yea perish quickly off the land where you are crossing over the Jordan to tenant it. You shall not prolong your days on it, for you shall be exterminated, yea exterminated.

³⁰ In your distress, when all these things find you in the latter days, then you will return to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice. ³¹ For Yahweh your Elohim is a compassionate El. He shall neither neglect you nor bring ruin on you, nor shall He forget the covenant of your fathers about which He had sworn to them.

⁶ These words which I am instructing you today will come to be in your heart. ⁷ Repeat them to your sons, and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you arise.

¹⁰ When it comes to be that Yahweh your Elohim brings you into the land about which He had sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, to give to you great and good cities which you did not build, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not hew, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, so that you will eat and be satisfied, ¹² then guard yourself, lest you should forget Yahweh your Elohim Who brought you forth from the country of Egypt, from the house of servants.

¹ When Yahweh your Elohim brings you into the land where you are about to enter in order to tenant it, and He eases many nations out before your face, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and substantial than you, ² when Yahweh your Elohim gives them up before you, and you smite them, then you shall doom, yea doom them. You shall neither contract a covenant with them nor be gracious to them,

¹⁶ Now you will devour all the peoples whom Yahweh your Elohim is delivering to you. Your eye shall not commiserate over them, and you shall not serve their elohim, for that is a trap to you.

²³ Yet Yahweh your Elohim will give them up before you and discomfit them with a great discomfiture until they are exterminated. ²⁴ He will give their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under the heavens. No man shall station himself in your presence until you exterminate them. ²⁵ You shall burn the carvings of their elohim with fire. You shall not covet the silver and gold on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be trapped by it, for it is an abhorrence to Yahweh your Elohim.

⁷ For Yahweh your Elohim is bringing you into a land good and wide, a land of watercourses, with water from springs and from the abyss coming forth in valley and in mountain,

¹⁰ When you have eaten and are satisfied, then bless Yahweh your Elohim for the good land that He has given to you. ¹¹ Guard yourself lest you should forget Yahweh your Elohim by failing to observe His instructions and His judgments and His statutes that I am enjoining on you today, ¹² lest, when you eat and are satisfied and build good houses and dwell in them, ¹³ and your herd and your flock multiply, and silver and gold increase for you, and all that is yours is abundant, ¹⁴ then your heart becomes exalted and you forget Yahweh your Elohim Who was bringing you forth from the country of Egypt, from the house of servants,

³ Know then today that Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One crossing over before you as a devouring fire. He Himself shall exterminate them, and He Himself shall make them submit before you; yet you must evict them and destroy them quickly just as Yahweh has spoken to you.

⁶ Know then that it is not because of your own righteousness that Yahweh your Elohim is giving to you this good land to tenant it, for you are a stiff-necked people. ⁷ Remember, do not forget that you provoked Yahweh your Elohim to wrath in the wilderness. From the day in which you went forth from the country of Egypt until you came to this place, you were rebellious against Yahweh.

⁵ But rather for the place that Yahweh your Elohim shall choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there, you shall inquire for His tabernacle, and there will you come.

And none shall appear before Yahweh empty-handed, ¹⁷ but each according to the gift of his hand, according to the blessing which Yahweh your Elohim will give to you.

¹⁸ It will come to be when he is seated on the throne of his kingdom, that he will write for himself a duplicate of this law on a scroll from the one before the priests, the Levites.

¹ When you go forth for battle against your enemies, and you see horses and chariots and a people more numerous than you, you should not fear them, for Yahweh your Elohim is with you, the One bringing you up from the country of Egypt.

³ He will say to them:Hear, Israel! You are near today to the battle against your enemies. Let not your heart be timid, do not fear, do not be in nervous haste and do not be terrified because of their presence. ⁴ for Yahweh your Elohim is the One going with you to fight for you with your enemies and to save you.

By a single road shall you go forth to them, and by seven roads shall you flee before them. So you will become an object of commotion to all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ Your carcass will become food for every flyer of the heavens and for the beast of the earth, and there will be no one causing them to tremble. ²⁷ Yahweh shall smite you with the boil of Egypt, with piles, with eczema and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed. ²⁸ Yahweh shall smite you with madness, with blindness and with derangement of heart;" ²⁹ and you will come to be groping at noon just as the blind one gropes in the gloom, and you shall not prosper in your ways and will only become extorted and pillaged all the days, and there will be no saviour. ³⁰ A wife shall you betroth, yet another man shall ravish her. A house shall you build, yet you shall not dwell in it. A vineyard shall you plant, yet you shall not take it for profane use. ³¹ Your bull shall be slaughtered before your eyes, yet you shall not eat of it. Your donkey shall be snatched from before you, yet it shall not return to you. Your flock shall be given to your enemies, yet there will be no saviour for you. ³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall be staring and wasting away for them all the day, yet there will be nothing at the disposal of your hand. ³³ A people you do not know shall devour the fruit of your ground and all your labor, and you will surely be extorted and bruised all the days, ³⁴ so that you will become mad because of the sight of your eyes that you shall see. ³⁵ Yahweh shall smite you with an evil boil on both the knees and on both the legs, of which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot and unto your scalp. ³⁶ Yahweh shall conduct you and your king, whom you shall set up over you, to a nation whom you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, and you will serve there other elohim of wood and stone. ³⁷ You will become an object of astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh shall lead you. ³⁸ Much seed shall you bring forth to the field, yet little shall you gather, for the locust shall eat it up. ³⁹ You shall plant vineyards, and you will service them, yet you shall neither drink the wine, nor shall you hoard it, for the worm shall devour it. ⁴⁰ You shall come to have olives in all your territory, yet you shall not rub yourself with oil because your olives shall drop off. ⁴¹ You shall generate sons and daughters, yet they shall not become yours, for they shall go into captivity. ⁴² The cicada shall make all your trees and the fruit of your ground destitute. ⁴³ The sojourner who is among you shall ascend over you upward and upward, yet you shall descend downward and downward. ⁴⁴ He shall obligate you, yet you shall not obligate him. He shall become the head, and you shall become the tail. ⁴⁵ All the maledictions will come on you, and they will pursue you and overtake you until you are exterminated, for you would not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe His instructions and His statutes that He enjoined on you. ⁴⁶ They will be a sign and a miracle against you and your seed until the eon. ⁴⁷ Inasmuch as you would not serve Yahweh your Elohim with rejoicing and with goodness of heart over the abundance of everything, ⁴⁸ then you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh shall send forth against you, in famine and in thirst, in nakedness and in lack of everything. There you will serve other elohim, those of wood and stone which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers. ⁶⁵ And among those nations you shall neither find respite, nor shall there be a resting place for the sole of your foot, and Yahweh will give to you there a disturbed heart, a failure of the eyes and pining of the soul. ⁶⁶ Then your lives will come to be hung in suspense in front of you. You will be afraid by night and by day, and you shall not put trust in your lives. ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say:O that it were evening! And in the evening you shall say:O that it were morning! because of the awe of your heart with which you shall be afraid and because of the sight of your eyes which you shall see. ⁶⁸ Then Yahweh will bring you back complaining to Egypt by the way of which I said to you:You should not again see it further. There you will put yourselves up for sale to your enemies as servants and as maids, yet there will be no buyer.

For the day of their calamity is near, and impending doom hurries upon them. ³⁶ For Yahweh shall adjudicate His people and show Himself merciful over His servants when He sees that the power of their hand has departed and has become nil for both the restrained and the ones set free. ³⁷ Then Yahweh will ask:Where are their elohim, the rock in whom they took refuge, ³⁸ who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations? Let them rise up and help you; let them become a concealment over you. ³⁹ See now that I, I am He, and there is no other elohim besides Me. I Myself put to death, and I keep alive; I have transfixed, and I Myself shall heal, and there is no one who could reclaim from My hand!" ⁴⁰ For I lift My hand to the heavens and declare:As I am the Life for the eon, ⁴¹ when I whet My flashing sword and My hand lays hold on judgment, I shall return vengeance to My foes, and to My haters shall I make repayment. ⁴² I shall make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, the blood of the one mortally wounded and the captive, from the head of the enemy commanders. ⁴³ Jubilate, O heavens, together with Him, and worship Him, all the messengers of Elohim! Jubilate, O nations, with His people! For the blood of His servants shall He avenge, vengeance to His foes shall He return, and a propitiatory shelter shall He make for the ground of His people. ⁴⁴ Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hosea son of Nun. ⁴⁵ When Moses concluded speaking all these words to all Israel,

⁷ `Only, be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; you do not turn aside from it right or left, so that you do act wisely in every [place] whither you go;" <sup>8</sup> the book of this law does not depart out of your mouth, and you have meditated in it by day and by night, so that you do observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you do cause your way to prosper, and then you do act wisely. <sup>9</sup> `Have not I commanded you? be strong and courageous; be not terrified nor affrighted, for with you [is] Yahweh your Elohim in every [place] whither you go..

³ and command the people, saying, `When you see the ark of the covenant of Yahweh your Elohim, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you journey from your place, and have gone after it;"

⁷ And Yahweh said unto Joshua, `This day I begin to make you great in the eyes of all Israel, so that they know that as I was with Moses I am with you;"

¹⁴ And it comes to pass, in the journeying of the people from their tents to pass over the Jordan, and of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, ¹⁵ and at those bearing the ark coming in unto the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark have been dipped in the extremity of the waters (and the Jordan is full over all its banks all the days of harvest) -. ¹⁶ that the waters stand; those coming down from above have risen--one heap, very far above Adam the city, which [is] at the side of Zaretan; and those going down by the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, have been completely cut off; and the people have passed through over-against Jericho;" ¹⁷ and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Yahweh stand on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan--established, and all Israel are passing over on dry ground till that all the nation has completed to pass over the Jordan.

¹⁴ On that day has Yahweh made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, and they reverence him, as they reverenced Moses, all days of his life.

¹² And Joshua rises early in the morning, and the priests bear the ark of Yahweh,

³⁴ And afterwards he has proclaimed all the words of the law, the blessing and the reviling, according to all that is written in the book of the law;" ³⁵ there has not been a thing of all that Moses commanded which Joshua has not proclaimed before all the assembly of Israel, and the women, and the infants, and the sojourner who is going in their midst.

²⁵ And Joshua said unto them, `Fear not, nor be affrighted; be strong and courageous; for thus does Yahweh do to all your enemies with whom you are fighting;.

¹⁰ `And, now, lo, Yahweh has kept me alive, as He has spoken, these forty and five years, since Yahweh spoke this word unto Moses, when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, lo, I [am] to-day a son of five and eighty years;" ¹¹ yet [am] I to-day strong as in the day of Moses' sending me; as my power then, so [is] my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.

¹⁴ `And lo, I am going, to-day, in the way of all the earth, and you have known--with all your heart, and with all your soul--that there has not fallen one thing of all the good things which Yahweh your Elohim has spoken concerning you; the whole have come to you; there has not failed of it one thing.

¹ And Joshua gathers all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and calls for the elders of Israel, and for its heads, and for its judges, and for its authorities, and they station themselves before Elohim.

¹² and forsake Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, who brings them out from the land of Egypt, and go after other elohims (of the elohims of the peoples who [are] round about them), and bow themselves to them, and provoke Yahweh,

¹⁴ And the anger of Yahweh burns against Israel, and He gives them into the hand of spoilers, and they spoil them, and He sells them into the hand of their enemies round about, and they have not been able any more to stand before their enemies;" ¹⁵ in every [place] where they have gone out, the hand of Yahweh has been against them for evil, as Yahweh has spoken, and as Yahweh has sworn to them, and they are distressed--greatly.

¹⁷ and also unto their judges they have not hearkened, but have gone a-whoring after other elohims, and bow themselves to them; they have turned aside [with] haste out of the way [in] which their fathers walked to obey the commands of Yahweh--they have not done so. ¹⁸ And when Yahweh raised up to them judges--then was Yahweh with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repents Yahweh, because of their groaning from the presence of their oppressors, and of those thrusting them away. ¹⁹ And it has come to pass, at the death of the judge--they turn back and have done corruptly above their fathers, to go after other elohims, to serve them, and to bow themselves to them; they have not fallen from their doings, and from their stiff way.

¹³ And Gideon said unto him, `O, my lord--and Yahweh is with us! --and why has all this found us? and where [are] all His wonders which our fathers recounted to us, saying, Has not Yahweh brought us up out of Egypt? and now Yahweh has left us, and does give us into the hand of Midian..

⁶ And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the elohims of Aram, and the elohims of Zidon, and the elohims of Moab, and the elohims of the Bene-Ammon, and the elohims of the Philistines, and forsake Yahweh, and have not served Him;"

¹³ and you--you have forsaken Me, and serve other elohims, therefore I add not to save you.

¹⁹ and you to-day have rejected your Elohim, who [is] Himself your saviour out of all your evils and your distresses, and you say, `Nay, but--a king you do set over us; and now, station yourselves before Yahweh, by your tribes, and by your thousands..

¹² `When your days are full, and you have lain with your fathers, then I have raised up your seed after you which goes out from your bowels, and have established his kingdom;"

³ and you have gone unto the king, and spoken unto him, according to this word;' and Joab puts the words into her mouth.

¹⁷ and Abishai son of Zeruiah gives help to him, and smites the Philistine, and puts him to death; then swear the men of David to him, saying, `You do not go out again with us to battle, nor quench the lamp of Israel..

⁷ And now, O Yahweh my Elohim, You have caused your servant to reign instead of David my father; and I [am] a little child, I do not know to go out and to come in;"

³ And all the elders of Israel come in, and the priests lift up the ark,

⁹ There is nothing in the ark, only the two tables of stone which Moses put there in Horeb, when Yahweh covenanted with the sons of Israel in their going out of the land of Egypt.

⁴ and therefore, thus said Yahweh, The bed whither you have gone up, you do not come down from it, for you do certainly die;' and Elijah goes on.

⁸ And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, `A book of the law I have found in the house of Yahweh;' and Hilkiah gives the book unto Shaphan, and he reads it. <sup>9</sup> And Shaphan the scribe comes in unto the king, and brings the king back word, and said, `Your servants have poured out the silver that has been found in the house, and give it into the hand of the doers of the work, the inspectors, in the house of Yahweh.. ¹⁰ And Shaphan the scribe declares to the king, saying, `A book has Hilkiah the priest given to me;' and Shaphan reads it before the king. ¹¹ And it comes to pass, at the king's hearing the words of the book of the law, that he rends his garments,

¹³ `Go, seek Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found, for great [is] the fury of Yahweh that is kindled against us, because that our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according to all that is written for us.. <sup>14</sup> And Hilkiah the priest goes, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, unto Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum, son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the garments, and she is dwelling in Jerusalem in the second, and they speak unto her. <sup>15</sup> And she said unto them, `Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, Say to the man who has sent you unto me. ¹⁶ Thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am bringing in evil unto this place and on its inhabitants, all the words of the book that the king of Judah has read, ¹⁷ because that they have forsaken Me, and make perfume to other elohims, so as to provoke Me to anger with every work of their hands, and My wrath has been kindled against this place, and it is not quenched. ¹⁸ `And unto the king of Judah, who is sending you to seek Yahweh, thus do you say unto him, Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, The words that you have heard-. ¹⁹ because your heart [is] tender, and you are humbled because of Yahweh, in your hearing that which I have spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, to be for a desolation, and for a reviling, and do rend your garments, and weep before Me--I also have heard--the affirmation of Yahweh-.

² and the king goes up to the house of Yahweh, and every man of Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, from small unto great, and he reads in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that is found in the house of Yahweh.

² Then said David, `None [are] to carry the ark of Elohim, except the Levites, for on them has Yahweh fixed to carry the ark of Elohim, and to serve Him--unto the eon..

¹² and said to them, `You [are] heads of the fathers of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, and you have brought up the ark of Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, unto [the place] I have prepared for it;" ¹³ because at the first [it was] not you, Yahweh our Elohim made a breach upon us, because we sought Him not according to the ordinance.. ¹⁴ And the priests and the Levites sanctify themselves, to bring up the ark of Yahweh, Elohim of Israel;" ¹⁵ and sons of the Levites bear the ark of Elohim, as Moses commanded, according to the word of Yahweh, on their shoulder, with staves, above them.

¹³ then you do prosper, if you do observe to do the statutes and the judgments that Yahweh charged Moses with concerning Israel; be strong and courageous; do not fear, nor be cast down.

⁹ `And you, Solomon, my son, know the Elohim of your father, and serve Him with a perfect heart, and with a willing mind, for all hearts is Yahweh seeking, and every imagination of the thoughts He is understanding; if you do seek Him, He is found of you, and if you do forsake Him, He casts you off for ever. ¹⁰ See, now, for Yahweh has fixed on you to build a house for a sanctuary; be strong, and do..

²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son, `Be strong, and courageous, and do; do not fear nor be affrighted, for Yahweh Elohim, my Elohim, [is] with you; He does not fail you, nor forsake you, unto the completion of all the work of the service of the house of Yahweh.

² and he goes out before Asa, and said to him, `Hear, me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; Yahweh [is] with you--in your being with Him, and if you seek Him, He is found of you, and if you forsake Him, He forsakes you;"

²⁰ and the Spirit of Elohim has clothed Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest, and he stands over-against the people, and said to them, `Thus said Elohim, Why are you transgressing the commands of Yahweh, and prosper not? because you have forsaken Yahweh--He does forsake you..

⁸ `Now, harden not your neck like your fathers, give a hand to Yahweh, and come in to His sanctuary, that He has sanctified to the eon, and serve Yahweh your Elohim, and the fierceness of His anger does turn back from you;"

⁷ `Be strong and courageous, be not afraid, nor be cast down from the face of the king of Asshur, and from the face of all the multitude that [is] with him, for with us [are] more than with him.

¹⁴ And in their bringing out the money that is brought in to the house of Yahweh, has Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of Yahweh by the hand of Moses, ¹⁵ and Hilkiah answers and said unto Shaphan the scribe, `A book of the law I have found in the house of Yahweh;' and Hilkiah gives the book unto Shaphan,

²⁴ Thus said Yahweh, Lo, I am bringing in evil on this place, and on its inhabitants, all the execrations that are written on the book that they read before the king of Judah;"

¹ While Ezra was praying and while he was confessing, lamenting and cast to the ground before the House of the One, Elohim, those from Israel convened around him, a very great assembly, men, women and children; for the people lamented with increased lamentation.

¹ And all the people are gathered as one man unto the broad place that [is] before the water-gate, and they say to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, that Yahweh commanded Israel. ² And Ezra the priest brings the law before the assembly, both of men and women, and every one intelligent to hear, on the first day of the seventh month, ³ and he reads in it before the broad place that [is] before the water-gate, from the light till the middle of the day, over-against the men, and the women, and those intelligent, and the ears of all the people [are] unto the book of the law. ⁴ And Ezra the scribe stands on a tower of wood that they made for the purpose, and Mattithiah stands near him, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right; and on his left Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddana, Zechariah, Meshullam. ⁵ And Ezra opens the book before the eyes of all the people--for above all the people he has been--and at his opening [it] all the people have stood up, ⁶ and Ezra blesses Yahweh, the great Elohim, and all the people answer, `Amen, Amen,' with lifting up of their hands, and they bow and do obeisance to Yahweh--faces to the earth. ⁷ And Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, giving the people understanding in the law, and the people, [are] on their station, ⁸ and they read in the book, in the law of Elohim, explaining--so as to give the meaning, and they give understanding to the convocation.

¹³ And on the second day have been gathered heads of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to act wisely concerning the words of the law.

¹⁸ And he reads in the book of the law of Elohim day by day, from the first day till the last day, and they make a feast seven days, and on the eighth day a restraint, according to the ordinance.

³ and rise up on their station, and read in the book of the law of Yahweh their Elohim a fourth of the day, and a fourth they are confessing and bowing themselves to Yahweh their Elohim.

²⁵ And they capture fenced cities, and fat ground, and possess houses full of all good, digged-wells, vineyards, and olive-yards, and fruit-trees in abundance, and they eat, and are satisfied, and become fat, and delight themselves in Your great goodness. ²⁶ `And they are disobedient, and rebel against You, and cast Your law behind their back, and Your prophets they have slain, who testified against them, to bring them back unto You, and they do great despisings,

³² `And now, O our Elohim--El, the great, the mighty, and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness--let not all the travail that has found us be little before You, for our kings, for our heads, and for our priests, and for our prophets, and for our fathers, and for all Your people, from the days of the kings of Asshur unto this day;"

³⁵ and they, in their kingdom, and in Your abundant goodness, that You have given to them, and in the land, the large and the fat, that You have set before them, have not served You, nor turned back from their evil doings.

⁶ There was a day when the sons of Elohim would come to station themselves before Yahweh, and Satan came also in their midst.

¹² Bear admonition lest He should be angry, And you should perish in the way, For His anger shall consume speedily. Happy are all those taking refuge in Him.

¹⁰ They have closed their calloused heart; Their mouths have spoken in pride.

⁷ The law of Yahweh is flawless, restoring the soul; The testimony of Yahweh is faithful, making wise the simple;" ⁸ The precepts of Yahweh are upright, rejoicing the heart; The instruction of Yahweh is pure, enlightening the eyes;" ⁹ The fear of Yahweh is clean, standing unto the future; The judgments of Yahweh are truth; they are righteous altogether:" ¹⁰ Coveted more than gold, and more than much glittering gold, And sweeter than honey and drips of the combs." ¹¹ Moreover, Your servant is being warned by them; In the keeping of them is a great consequence."

¹ {Davidic{ Yahweh is my Light and my Salvation; Whom should I fear? Yahweh is the Stronghold of my life; Of whom should I be afraid?

⁹ O do not conceal Your face from me, O do not turn aside Your servant in anger, You Who have become my Help! O do not abandon me, And do not forsake me, O Elohim of my salvation."

¹⁴ Be expectant toward Yahweh; Be steadfast, and let your heart be resolute. Yea, be expectant toward Yahweh."

⁷ O Yahweh, in Your benevolence, You have made my mountain to stand in strength. If You conceal Your face, I become flustered;"

¹¹ Come my sons; hearken to me! I shall teach you the devout fear of Yahweh. ¹² Who is the man whose delight is life, Loving sufficient days in order to see good? ¹³ Preserve your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit. ¹⁴ Withdraw from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it."

² You, by Your hand, You evicted the nations, And You planted them there. You brought evil to the national groups, And You sent them in." ³ For neither by their sword did they tenant the land, Nor did their arm bring salvation for them. But it was Your right hand and Your arm of power and the light of Your countenance, For You held them dear."

⁷ Their eye protrudes from fat; Vain fancies pass through their heart.

²⁷ For behold, those who are far from You, they shall perish; You will efface all who prostitute away from You."

⁴ We shall not suppress them from their sons, Recounting to the next generation the praises of Yahweh, And His strength and His marvelous works that He has done." ⁵ For He set up a testimony in Jacob, And He placed a law in Israel, Which He enjoined on our fathers To make them known to their sons, ⁶ That the next generation may know, The sons who shall be born; They shall rise and recount them to their sons." ⁷ Thus they shall place their confidence in Elohim, And they shall not forget all the activity of El, And His instructions shall they preserve." ⁸ Then they shall not become like their fathers, A generation stubborn and rebellious, A generation that had neither established its heart, Nor was its spirit faithful to El."

⁷ They go from rampart to rampart Till each appears before Elohim in Zion.

⁴⁶ How long, O Yahweh; shall You be concealed permanently? How long shall Your fury consume like fire?

¹⁰ The days of our years, in them are seventy years, And if by mastery there are eighty years, Yet even in their heyday is toil and sorrow, For it is sheared off hurriedly, and we fly away." ¹¹ Who is knowing the strength of Your anger And Your rage, according to the fear due to You?

⁷ In the cloud column He spoke to them; They kept His testimonies and the statute He gave to them.

²⁹ You conceal Your face; they are filled with panic. You gather away their spirit; they breathe their last And return to their soil.

³⁹ Thus they defiled themselves by their deeds, And they prostituted themselves by their actions."

⁷⁰ Stolid like fat is their heart; As for me, I revel in Your law."

⁵ For the living know that they shall die, But the dead know nothing whatsoever; There is no further hire for them; Indeed remembrance of them is forgotten."

² Hark, you heavens! And give ear, O earth! For Yahweh speaks! Sons I bring up and exalt, yet they, they transgress against Me."

⁴ Woe, nation of sin! People heavy with depravity! Seed of evil doers! Sons of ruiners! They forsake Yahweh. They spurn the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged, going back."

⁹ Know, you peoples, and be dismayed! And give ear, all you far from the land! Belt yourselves and be dismayed! Belt yourselves and be dismayed!" ¹⁰ Counsel with counsel, yet it shall be annulled! Speak the word, yet it shall not be confirmed! For with us is El!"

¹⁷ I also tarry for Yahweh, the Concealer of His face from the house of Jacob, and my expectation is toward Him."

¹ In those days Hezekiah is ill to death. And coming to him is Isaiah, the prophet, son of Amoz, and is saying to him, "Thus says Yahweh, `Give instructions to your household, for you shall die, and not live.'"

¹³ For I, Yahweh, your Elohim, am holding fast your right hand, saying to you, `You must not fear; I, I help you." ¹⁴ You must not fear, worm Jacob, and death-doomed of Israel, I, I help you,'averring is Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel." ¹⁵ Behold! I constitute you a new spiked threshing sledge possessing serrated edges. You shall thresh the mountains and pulverize them, and the hills you shall make as trash." ¹⁶ You will winnow them, and the wind will carry them away. And the tempest will scatter them. And you shall exult in Yahweh. And in the Holy One of Israel shall you boast." ¹⁷ The humble and the needy are seeking water, yet there is none. Their tongue is benumbed with thirst. I, Yahweh, will respond to them; the Elohim of Israel, I will not forsake them."

¹ And now, thus says Yahweh Elohim, your creator, Jacob, and your Former, Israel:"You must not fear, for I redeemed you, I called you by your name. You are mine."

⁴ From what I know, you are obstinate, and a sinew of iron is your scruff. And your forehead is copper."

And over whom are you widening your mouth? Are you sticking out your tongue? Are you not boys of transgression, a seed of falsehood? ⁵ Warmed with desire among elim under every flourishing tree, slayers of boys in the watercourses under forks of the crags, ⁶ among slick stones of the watercourse is your portion. They, they are your lot moreover, to them you pour out a libation; you bring up an approach present. Over these shall I regret? ⁷ On a mountain lofty and lifted up you place your bed. Moreover, there you ascend to sacrifice a sacrifice." ⁸ And behind the door and the jamb you place your memorial, for, away from Me you roll, yet are you benefiting? You widen your bed and are making your contract with them. You love their bed. A beckoning hand you perceive."

²¹ And I--this is My covenant with them,says Yahweh. "My spirit, which is on you, and My word, which I place in your mouth, shall not remove from your mouth, or from the mouth of your seed, or from the mouth of your seed's seed,says Yahweh, "Henceforth and till the eon."

¹⁷ Why are You leading us astray, Yahweh, from Your ways? Making our heart indurate to Your fear? Turn back, on account of Your servants, the tribes of Your allotment."

⁷ And no one is calling on Your name, rousing himself to hold fast to You, for You conceal Your face from us, and You are dissolving us by means of our depravities."

And My people has changed its honor For that which does not profit. ¹² Be astonished, you heavens, at this, Yea, be frightened, be greatly wasted, An affirmation of Yahweh." ¹³ For two evils has My people done, Me they have forsaken, a fountain of living waters, To hew out for themselves wells--broken wells, That contain not the waters."

¹ Saying, `Lo, one sends away his wife, And she has gone from him, And she has been to another man, Does he turn back unto her again? Greatly defiled is not that land? And you have committed whoredom with many lovers, And turn again to Me, an affirmation of Yahweh." ² Lift your eyes to the high places, and see, Where have you not been lain with? On the ways you have sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And you defile the land, By your fornications, and by your wickedness." ³ And withheld are showers, and gathered rain has not been. The forehead of a whorish woman you have, You have refused to be ashamed."

²⁸ They have been fat, they have shone, Yea, they have overpassed the acts of the evil, Judgment they have not judged, The judgment of the fatherless--and they prosper, And the judgment of the needy they have not judged."

³³ And when this people, or the prophet, Or a priest, does ask you, saying, What [is] the burden of Yahweh? Then you have said unto them:You [are] the burden, and I have left you, An affirmation of Yahweh."

³⁹ Therefore, lo, I--I have taken you utterly away, And I have sent you out, And the city that I gave to you, And to your fathers, from before My face,

³² Not like the covenant that I made with their fathers, In the day of My laying hold on their hand, To bring them out of the land of Egypt, In that they made void My covenant, And I ruled over them--an affirmation of Yahweh."

¹¹ Because you rejoice, because you exult, O spoilers of Mine inheritance, Because you increase as a heifer [at] the tender grass, And do cry aloud as bulls,

⁵ and they--whether they hear, or whether they forbear, for a rebellious house they [are] --have known that a prophet has been in their midst."

¹⁵ And you do trust in your beauty, And go a-whoring because of your renown, And do pour out your whoredoms On every passer by--to him it is."

²⁵ At every head of the way you have built your high place, And you do make your beauty abominable, And do open wide your feet to every passer by, And do multiply your whoredoms, ²⁶ And do go a-whoring unto sons of Egypt, Your neighbors--great of appetite! And you do multiply your whoredoms, To provoke Me to anger." ²⁷ And lo, I have stretched out My hand against you, And I diminish your portion, And give you to the desire of those hating you, The daughters of the Philistines, Who are ashamed of your wicked way." ²⁸ And you go a-whoring unto sons of Asshur, Without your being satisfied, And you do go a-whoring with them, And also--you have not been satisfied." ²⁹ And you do multiply your whoredoms On the land of Canaan--toward Chaldea, And even with this you have not been satisfied." ³⁰ How weak [is] your heart, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, In your doing all these, The work of a domineering whorish woman." ³¹ In your building your arch at the head of every way, Your high place you have made in every broad place, And--have not been as a whore deriding a gift." ³² The wife who commits adultery--Under her husband--does receive strangers. ³³ To all whores they give a gift, And--you have given your gifts to all your lovers, And do bribe them to come in unto you, From round about--in your whoredoms." ³⁴ And the contrary is in you from women in your whoredoms, That after you none does go a-whoring; And in your giving a gift, And a gift has not been given to you; And you are become contrary." ³⁵ Therefore, O whore, hear a word of Yahweh, ³⁶ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of your brass being poured forth, And your nakedness is revealed in your whoredoms near your lovers, And near all the idols of your abominations, And according to the blood of your sons, Whom you have given to them;"

⁵ And go a-whoring does Aholah under Me, And she dotes on her lovers, On the neighboring Assyrians, ⁶ Clothed with blue--governors and prefects, Desirable young men all of them, Horsemen, riding on horses, ⁷ And she gives her whoredoms on them, The choice of the sons of Asshur, All of them--even all on whom she doted, By all their idols she has been defiled." ⁸ And her whoredoms out of Egypt she has not forsaken, For with her they lay in her youth, And they dealt with the loves of her virginity, And they pour out their whoredoms on her." ⁹ Therefore I have given her into the hand of her lovers, Into the hand of sons of Asshur on whom she doted." ¹⁰ They have uncovered her nakedness, Her sons and her daughters they have taken, And her by sword they have slain, And she is a name for women, And judgments they have done with her." ¹¹ And see does her sister Aholibah, And she makes her doting love more corrupt than she, And her whoredoms than the whoredoms of her sister." ¹² On sons of Asshur she has doted, Governors and prefects, Neighboring ones--clothed in perfection, Horsemen, riding on horses, Desirable young men all of them." ¹³ And I see that she has been defiled, One way [is] to them both." ¹⁴ And she does add unto her whoredoms, And she sees graved men on the wall, Pictures of Chaldeans, graved with red lead, ¹⁵ Girded with a girdle on their loins, Dyed attire spread out on their heads, The appearance of rulers--all of them, The likeness of sons of Babylon, Chaldea is the land of their birth." ¹⁶ And she dotes on them at the sight of her eyes, And sends messengers to them, to Chaldea." ¹⁷ And come in unto her do sons of Babylon, To the bed of loves, And they defile her with their whoredoms, And she is defiled with them, And her soul is alienated from them." ¹⁸ And she reveals her whoredoms, And she reveals her nakedness, And alienated is My soul from off her, As alienated was My soul from off her sister." ¹⁹ And she multiplies her whoredoms, To remember the days of her youth, When she went a-whoring in the land of Egypt." ²⁰ And she dotes on their paramours, Whose flesh [is] the flesh of asses, And the issue of horses--their issue." ²¹ You look after the wickedness of your youth, In dealing out of Egypt your loves, For the sake of the breasts of your youth."

¹⁶ The lost I seek, and the driven away bring back, And the broken I bind up, and the sick I strengthen, And the fat and the strong I destroy, I feed it with judgment."

²⁰ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh to them:Lo, I--even I, have judged between fat sheep and lean sheep."

⁸ After many days you are appointed, In the latter end of the years you come in unto a land brought back from sword, [A people] gathered out of many peoples, Upon mountains of Israel, That have been for a perpetual waste, And it from the peoples has been brought out, And dwelt safely have all of them."

¹⁰ Thus said the Lord Yahweh:And it has come to pass in that day, Come up do things on your heart, And you have thought an evil thought, ¹¹ And you have said:I go up against a land of unwalled villages, I go in to those at rest, dwelling confidently, All of them are dwelling without walls, And bar and doors they have not."

²³ And known have the nations that for their iniquity, Removed have the house of Israel, Because they have trespassed against Me, And I do hide My face from them, And give them into the hand of their adversaries, And they fall by sword--all of them." ²⁴ According to their uncleanness, And according to their transgressions, I have done with them, And I do hide My face from them."

²⁹ And I hide not any more My face from them, In that I have poured out My spirit on the house of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!'"

¹³ According to that which is written in the law of Moses, all this evil comes on us; yet we do not beseech the face of Yahweh our Elohim, so as to turn back from our depravities and to be intelligent in all Thy truth."

¹⁹ You must not fear, man of coveted qualities! Peace be yours! Steadfast! Now be steadfast!At his speaking with me, I am encouraged and am saying, "Let my lord speak, for you encourage me."

² Contend with your mother, contend, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. And she shall take away the signs of her prostitutions from her face, and of her adulteries from between her breasts, ³ lest I should strip her naked and put her forth as on the day of her birth and make her as a wilderness and set her as an arid land and put her to death with thirst. ⁴ And on her sons I am not having compassion, for sons of prostitution are they." ⁵ For their mother committed prostitution; she who was pregnant with them caused shame. For she had said, I am going after my lovers, who are giving me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drinks."

⁶ My people shall be stilled because of failing knowledge, seeing that you reject knowledge. Then I am rejecting you from being a priest for Me, and as you are forgetting the law of your Elohim, I will forget your sons--even I."

³ I know Ephraim, and Israel is not suppressed from Me, for now, Ephraim, you cause prostitution, and Israel is defiled."

⁹ Deeply they ruin as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their depravity and will note their sins.

¹² For, if they are bringing up their sons, then will I bereave them of a human, for, moreover, woe to them when My control is away from them!"

⁵ I grazed you in the wilderness, in the land of droughts." ⁶ And according to their pasture they were satisfied; they were satisfied, and their heart is exalting; therefore they forgot Me."

²⁵ Have you brought close to Me sacrifices and approach presents in the wilderness forty years, house of Israel? ²⁶ Or have you borne the booth of your king and the pedestal of your images--the star of your elohim which you made for yourselves?

⁴ Yet now be steadfast, Zerubbabel, (averring is Yahweh), and be steadfast, Joshua, son of Josedech, the great priest, and be steadfast, all you people of the land, (averring is Yahweh), and do it, for I am with you, (averring is Yahweh of hosts)--"

¹³ And it shall come to be, just as you came to be a slight among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will become a blessing. You must not fear! Your hands shall be steadfast!"

⁷ For the lips of a priest shall keep knowledge, and the law shall they seek from his mouth, for the messenger of Yahweh of hosts is he."

⁴ Remember the law of Moses, My servant, which I instruct him in Horeb for all Israel, the statutes and judgments."

¹⁸ Now before governors and kings also shall you be led on My account, for a testimony to them and to the nations."

⁴ Yet they say, "Moses permits us to write a scroll of divorce, and to dismiss her." ⁵ And answering, Jesus said to them, "In view of your hardheartedness he writes for you this precept."

¹⁹ Teacher, Moses writes to us that, if anyone's brother should be dying, and leaving a wife, and leaving no child, that his brother may be taking his wife and should be raising up seed to his brother."

¹⁶ And He came to Nazareth, where He was reared, and, according to His custom on the day of the sabbaths, He entered into the synagogue and rose to read." ¹⁷ And handed to Him was a scroll of the prophet Isaiah, and, opening the scroll, He found the place where it was written,

³² Do not fear, little flocklet, for it delights your Father to give you the kingdom."

⁴⁰ And answering, He said to them, "I am saying to you that if ever these will be silent, the stones will be crying."

⁴² saying that, "If you knew, even you, and surely in this day, what is for your peace-! Yet now it was hid from your eyes, ⁴³ for the days will be arriving on you, and your enemies will be casting up a rampart about you, and will be surrounding you, and will be pressing you everywhere, ⁴⁴ and will be leveling you and your children in you, and they will not be leaving a stone on a stone in you, because you knew not the era of your visitation."

²⁸ saying, "Teacher, Moses writes to us, if anyone's brother should be dying, and having a wife, this one should be dying childless, that his brother may be getting the wife, and should be raising up seed to his brother."

²⁴ And they shall be falling by the edge of the sword and shall be led into captivity into all nations. And Jerusalem shall be trodden by the nations, until the eras of the nations may be fulfilled."

¹⁷ For the law through Moses was given; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

⁴⁵ Philip is finding Nathanael and is saying to him, "Him of Whom Moses writes in the law and the prophets, have we found Jesus, a son of Joseph, from Nazareth."

²⁴ Yet Jesus Himself did not entrust Himself to them, because of His knowing all men, ²⁵ for He had no need that anyone should be testifying concerning mankind, for He knew what was in mankind."

³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them you are supposing you have life eonian, and those are they which are testifying concerning Me,

⁴⁶ For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he writes concerning Me."

⁴⁸ He who is repudiating Me and not getting My declarations, has that which is judging him; the word which I speak, that will be judging him in the last day, ⁴⁹ seeing that I speak not from Myself, but the Father Who sends Me, He has given Me the precept, what I may be saying and what I should be speaking."

²³ This One, given up in the specific counsel and foreknowledge of God, you, gibbeting by the hand of the lawless, assassinate,

²⁸ to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel designates beforehand to occur.

²³ Now as his forty-year time was completed, it came on his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel."

⁴⁵ which also our fathers who succeed him, with Joshua, led into the tenure of the nations, whom God thrusts out from the face of our fathers, till the days of David,

⁵¹ Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in your hearts and ears, you are ever clashing with the holy spirit! As your fathers, you also!"

¹⁵ Now, after the reading of the law and the prophets, the chiefs of the synagogue dispatch to them, saying, "Men, brethren, if there is in you any word of entreaty for the people, say it."

³⁶ For David, indeed, subserving his own generation by God's counsel, was put to repose, and was added to his fathers, and was acquainted with decay;"

²¹ For Moses, from ancient generations, city by city, has those who are heralding him, being read on every sabbath in the synagogues."

²⁵ And now, lo! I am aware that you all, among whom I passed through heralding the kingdom, shall be seeing my face no longer."

²⁷ for under no circumstances do I shrink from informing you of the entire counsel of God. ²⁸ Take heed to yourselves and to the entire flocklet, among which the holy spirit appointed you supervisors, to be shepherding the ecclesia of God, which He procures through the blood of His Own." ²⁹ Now I am aware that, after I am out of reach, burdensome wolves will be entering among you, not sparing the flocklet." ³⁰ And from among yourselves will arise men, speaking perverse things to pull away disciples after themselves."

¹⁹ Now we are aware that, whatever the law is saying, it is speaking to those under the law, that every mouth may be barred, and the entire world may become subject to the just verdict of God, ²⁰ because, by works of law, no flesh at all shall be justified in His sight, for through law is the recognition of sin."

³¹ What then, shall we declare to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

¹ I am entreating you, then, brethren, by the pities of God, to present your bodies a sacrifice, living, holy, well pleasing to God, your logical divine service,

¹³ Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be manly! Be staunch!

¹⁹ For I, through law, died to law, that I should be living to God."

⁴ And fathers, do not be vexing your children, but be nurturing them in the discipline and admonition of the Lord."

¹⁰ For the rest, brethren mine, be invigorated in the Lord and in the might of His strength."

¹ Now the spirit is saying explicitly, that in subsequent eras some will be withdrawing from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and the teachings of demons,

¹ You, then, child of mine, be invigorated by the grace which is in Christ Jesus."

¹ Now this know, that in the last days perilous periods will be present, ² for men will be selfish, fond of money, ostentatious, proud, calumniators, stubborn to parents, ungrateful, malign, ³ without natural affection, implacable, adversaries, uncontrollable, fierce, averse to the good, ⁴ traitors, rash, conceited, fond of their own gratification rather than fond of God;" ⁵ having a form of devoutness, yet denying its power." ⁶ These, also, shun. For of these are those who are slipping into homes and are leading into captivity little women, heaped with sins, being led by various lusts and gratifications,

¹⁵ and that from a babe you are acquainted with the sacred scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is inspired by God, and is beneficial for teaching, for exposure, for correction, for discipline in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be equipped, fitted out for every good act."

¹ I am conjuring you in the sight of God and Christ Jesus, Who is about to be judging the living and the dead, in accord with His advent and His kingdom:" ² Herald the word. Stand by it, opportunely, inopportunely, expose, rebuke, entreat, with all patience and teaching." ³ For the era will be when they will not tolerate sound teaching, but, their hearing being tickled, they will heap up for themselves teachers in accord with their own desires, " ⁴ and, indeed, they will be turning their hearing away from the truth, yet will be turned aside to myths."

² in the last of these days speaks to us in a Son, Whom He appoints enjoyer of the allotment of all, through Whom He also makes the eons;"

⁵ And Moses, indeed, was faithful in His whole house as an attendant, for a testimony of that which shall be spoken."

⁸ For if Joshua causes them to stop, He would not have spoken concerning another day after these things."

⁵ May fondness for money not be your manner, being sufficed with what is present, for He has declared: Under no circumstances may I be lax regarding you, Neither by any means may I be forsaking you."

¹³ Now I am deeming it just, for as much time as I am in this tabernacle, to be rousing you by a reminder, ¹⁴ being aware that my tabernacle is to be put off swiftly according as our Lord, Jesus Christ, also makes evident to me."

³ knowing this first, that in the last days scoffers will be coming with scoffing, going according to their own desires"

²⁴ Now to Him Who is able to guard you from tripping, and to stand you flawless in sight of His glory, in exultation,

² with whom the kings of the earth commit prostitution, and those dwelling on the earth are made drunk with the wine of her prostitution." ³ And he carries me away, in spirit, into a wilderness. And I perceived a woman sitting on a scarlet wild beast replete with names of blasphemy, and having seven heads and ten horns." ⁴ And the woman was clothed with purple and scarlet, and gilded with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand, brimming with abominations and the uncleannesses of the prostitution of her and the earth." ⁵ And on her forehead is written a name: Secret Babylon the Great the mother of the prostitutes and the abominations of the earth.

² for true and just is His judging, for He judges the great prostitute who corrupts the earth with her prostitution, and avenges the blood of His slaves at her hand."

⁸ Yet the timid, and unbelievers, and the abominable, and murderers, and paramours, and enchanters, and idolaters, and all the false-their part is in the lake burning with fire and sulphur, which is the second death."
