³³ And now, dwell, pray, will your servant, instead of the youth, a servant to my lord, and the youth shall go up with his brothers.

¹⁰ And the heart of David smites him, after that he has numbered the people, and David said unto Yahweh, `I have sinned greatly in that which I have done, and now, O Yahweh, cause to pass away, I pray You, the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly..

¹⁷ And he said, `I have seen all Israel scattered on the hills as sheep that have no shepherd, and Yahweh said, These have no master; they turn back each to his house in peace..

¹⁶ and David lifts up his eyes, and sees the messenger of Yahweh standing between the earth and the heavens, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem, and David falls, and the elders, covered with sackcloth, on their faces. ¹⁷ And David said unto Elohim, `Did not I--I say to number the people? Yea, I it [is] who have sinned, and done great evil:and these, the flock, what did they? O Yahweh, my Elohim, let, I pray You, Your hand be on me, and on the house of my father, and not on Your people--to be plagued..

²⁰ I have sinned, Yet what do I contrive against You, O Preserver of mankind? Why have You established me as Your target mark, That I should become a load to You?

⁶ Therefore I sink down and repent On soil and ashes.

¹¹ You give us up like the flock, for food, And among the nations You have winnowed us."

² Rinse me abundantly from my depravity, And from my sin cleanse me." ³ For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is in front of me continually." ⁴ Against You, against You alone have I sinned And done what is evil in Your eyes, So that You may be justified when You speak, And be cleared when You judge." ⁵ Behold, I was with depravity when I was travailed in birth, And in sin when my mother conceived me."

¹ {Contemplating, Asaphic{ Why, O Elohim, have You cast us off permanently? Shall Your anger smolder long against the flock of Your pasture?

⁵ And saying am I, "Alack to me! For stilled am I, for a man of unclean lips am I, and amidst a people of unclean lips am I dwelling, for the King, Yahweh of hosts, my eyes have seen!"

² `Son of man, prophesy concerning shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and you have said unto them:To the shepherds, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Woe [to] the shepherds of Israel, Who have been feeding themselves! The flock do not the shepherds feed? ³ The fat you do eat, and the wool you put on, The fed one you slaughter, the flock you feed not." ⁴ The weak you have not strengthened, And the sick one you have not healed, And the broken you have not bound up, And the driven away have not brought back, And the lost you have not sought, And with might you have ruled them and with rigor." ⁵ And they are scattered from want of a shepherd, And are for food to every beast of the field, Yea, they are scattered." ⁶ Go astray do My flock on all the mountains, And on every high hill, And on all the face of the land have My flock been scattered, And there is none inquiring, and none seeking."

²³ And have raised up over them one shepherd, And he has fed them--my servant David, He does feed them, and he is their shepherd, ²⁴ And I, Yahweh, I am their Elohim, And My servant David prince in their midst, I, Yahweh, have spoken."

⁷ O sword! rouse against My Shepherd, and against the Master, My Companion, (averring is Yahweh of hosts). Smite the Shepherd, and the flock is scattering. And I restore My hand on the inferior shepherds."

¹¹ I am the Shepherd ideal. The ideal shepherd is laying down his soul for the sake of the sheep. ¹² Yet the hireling, not also being shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, is beholding the wolf coming, and is leaving the sheep and fleeing. And the wolf is snatching them and is scattering the sheep."

²⁴ Who Himself carries up our sins in His body on to the pole, that, coming away from sins, we should be living for righteousness; by Whose welt you were healed." ²⁵ For you were as straying sheep, but now you turned back to the Shepherd and Supervisor of your souls."
