¹ And there is a man of Benjamin, and his name [is] Kish, son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Bechorath, son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, mighty of valor, ² and he has a son, and his name [is] Saul, a choice youth and goodly, and there is not a man among the sons of Israel goodlier than he--from his shoulder and upward, higher than any of the people. ³ And the asses of Kish, father of Saul, are lost, and Kish said unto Saul his son, `Take, I pray you, with you, one of the young men, and rise, go, seek the asses.. <sup>4</sup> And he passes over through the hill-country of Ephraim, and passes over through the land of Shalisha, and they have not found; and they pass over through the land of Shaalim, and they are not; and he passes over through the land of Benjamin, and they have not found. <sup>5</sup> They have come in unto the land of Zuph, and Saul has said to his young man who [is] with him, `Come, and we turn back, lest my father leave off from the asses, and has been sorrowful for us.. ⁶ And he said to him, `Lo, I pray you, a man of Elohim [is] in this city, and the man is honored; all that he speaks does certainly come; now, we go there, it may be he does declare to us our way on which we have gone.. <sup>7</sup> And Saul said to his young man, `And lo, we go, and what do we bring in to the man? for the bread has gone from our vessels, and a present there is not to bring in to the man of Elohim--what [is] with us?. ⁸ And the young man adds to answer Saul, and said, `Lo, there is found with me a fourth of a shekel of silver:and I have given to the man of Elohim, and he has declared to us our way.. <sup>9</sup> Formerly in Israel, thus said the man in his going to seek Elohim, `Come and we go unto the seer,' for the `prophet' of to-day is called formerly `the seer.. ¹⁰ And Saul said to his young man, `Your word [is] good; come, we go;' and they go unto the city where the man of Elohim [is]. <sup>11</sup> They are going up in the ascent of the city, and have found young women going out to draw water, and say to them, `Is the seer in this [place]?. ¹² And they answer them and say, `He is; lo, before you! haste, now, for to-day he has come in to the city, for the people has a stated sacrifice in a high place. <sup>13</sup> At your going in to the city so you do find him, before he does go up in to the high place to eat; for the people do not eat till his coming, for he does bless the sacrifice; afterwards they eat, who are called, and now, go up, for at this time you find him.. <sup>14</sup> And they go up in to the city; they are coming in to the midst of the city, and lo, Samuel is coming out to meet them, to go up to the high place;" <sup>15</sup> and Yahweh had uncovered the ear of Samuel one day before the coming of Saul, saying, <sup>16</sup> `At this time tomorrow, I send unto you a man out of the land of Benjamin--and you have anointed him for leader over My people Israel, and he has saved My people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen My people, for its cry has come in unto Me.. ¹⁷ When Samuel has seen Saul, then has Yahweh answered him, `Lo, the man of whom I have spoken unto you; this [one] does restrain My people.. <sup>18</sup> And Saul draws nigh to Samuel in the midst of the gate, and said, `Declare, I pray you, to me, where [is] this--the seer's house?. ¹⁹ And Samuel answers Saul and said, `I [am] the seer; go up before me into the high place, and you have eaten with me to-day, and I have sent you away in the morning, and all that [is] in your heart I declare to you. <sup>20</sup> As to the asses which are lost to you this day three days, set not your heart to them, for they have been found; and to whom [is] all the desire of Israel?' is it not to you and to all your father's house?. <sup>21</sup> And Saul answers and said, `Am not I a Benjamite--of the small of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? and why have you spoken unto me according to this word?. ²² And Samuel takes Saul, and his young man, and brings them in to the chamber, and gives to them a place at the head of those called; and they [are] about thirty men. ²³ And Samuel said to the cook, `Give the portion which I gave to you, of which I said unto you, `Set it by you?. ²⁴ (and the cook lifts up the leg, and that which [is] on it, and sets before Saul), and he said, `Lo, that which is left; set [it] before you--eat, for to this appointed season it is kept for you, saying, The people I have called;' and Saul eats with Samuel on that day. <sup>25</sup> And they come down from the high place to the city, and he speaks with Saul on the roof. <sup>26</sup> And they rise early, and it comes to pass, at the ascending of the dawn, that Samuel calls unto Saul, on the roof, saying, `Rise, and I send you away;' and Saul rises, and they go out, both of them--he and Samuel, without. ²⁷ They are going down in the extremity of the city, and Samuel has said unto Saul, `Say to the young man that he pass on before us (and he passes on), and you, stand at this time, and I cause you to hear the word of Elohim..

² And seeing are sons of the elohim the daughters of the human, that they are good, and taking are they for themselves wives of all whom they choose.

¹⁴ And forth is Lot faring, and is speaking to his sons-in-law, who took his daughters, and is saying. "Rise! Forth from this place, for ruining is Yahweh the city!"And becoming is he as one making fun, in the eyes of his sons-in law.

¹¹ And causing is he the camels to kneel outside the city at a well of water at eventide, the time the women fare forth to bail it.

¹⁸ And saying is she, "Drink, my lord.And hastening is she and is letting down her jar on her hand and giving him to drink. ¹⁹ And finishing is she giving him to drink and is saying, "Moreover, for your camels will I bail till they should finish drinking. ²⁰ And hastening is she and emptying her jar into the drinking basin, and running again to the well to bail. And bailing is she for all his camels.

²² And bruising themselves are the sons within her. And saying is she, "Should it be so? Why have I this?And going is she to inquire of Yahweh.

⁵⁴ And sacrificing is Jacob a sacrifice in the mountain. And calling is he his brethren to eat bread. And eating are they bread and lodging in the mountain.

¹⁸ And coming is Jacob in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, at his coming from Padan, Syria. And camping is he before the city.

³² And placing are they for him alone and for them alone, for the Egyptians are eating with him alone, for the Egyptians cannot eat bread with Hebrews, for that is an abhorrence to the Egyptians.

³⁴ And lifting up is he helpings, from before him, for them, and much more is Benjamin's helping than all their helpings by five handfuls. And drinking are they with him and are gratified.

⁴ They fare forth, not far from the city, and Joseph says to him who is over his household, "Rise! Pursue after the mortals and overtake them and say to them, `Why do you repay evil for good? Why did you steal my silver beaker?

¹⁶ Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came, drew out water and filled the troughs to let their father's flock drink.

²³ In the course of these many days it came to be that the king of Egypt died. Yet the sons of Israel sighed under the servitude and cried out, and their imploration ascended to the One, Elohim, out of the servitude. ²⁴ Elohim heard their moaning, and Elohim was mindful of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. ²⁵ Elohim saw the sons of Israel and was realized by them.

⁷ Then Yahweh said: I see, yea see the humiliation of My people who are in Egypt. And I hear their crying because of the presence of their exactors; for I know their pains. ⁸ Hence I have descended to rescue them from the hand of Egypt and to bring them up from that land to a land good and wide, to a land gushing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Girgashite, the Hivite and the Jebusite. ⁹ And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me, and indeed, I have seen the oppression with which Egypt has been oppressing them.

²² You will take from the ram the fat: the fat tail and the fat covering the inwards and the redundance above the liver and the two kidneys and the fat which is on them and the right leg (for it is a ram of consecrations),

²⁷ Then you will hallow the chest of the wave offering and the leg of the heave offering, which is waved and what is heaved from the ram of consecrations which is for Aaron and which is for his sons.

³² The right leg shall you give as a heave offering to the priest from the sacrifices of your peace offerings. ³³ The one of the sons of Aaron bringing near the blood of peace offerings and the fat shall come to have the right leg as an assigned share,

³³ There we saw the distinguished (the sons of Anak are part of the distinguished ones). And we became, in our own eyes, like grasshoppers; so we became in their eyes.

¹⁸ Yet their flesh shall be yours, like the chest of the wave offering, and like the right leg shall it be yours.

¹¹ At the beginnings of your months you shall bring near an ascent offering to Yahweh:two young bulls, calves of the herd, and one ram, seven flawless year-old he-lambs, ¹² and three-tenths of an ephah of flour as an approach present mingled with oil for each young bull; and two-tenths of an ephah of flour as an approach present mingled with oil for the one ram, ¹³ and a tenth by a tenth of an ephah of flour as an approach present mingled with oil for each he-lamb. This is an ascent offering, a fragrant odor, a fire offering, to Yahweh. ¹⁴ As for their libations, half a hin shall there be for each young bull and a third of a hin for the one ram and a fourth of a hin of wine for each he-lamb. This is the ascent offering month by its month for the months of the year. ¹⁵ Also one hairy one of the goats as a sin offering to Yahweh along with the regular ascent offering shall be made with its libation.

⁶ You will bring there your ascent offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the heave offerings of your hand, your vows offerings and your voluntary offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and your flock. ⁷ You will eat there before Yahweh your Elohim, and you will rejoice in every undertaking of your hand, you and your households with which Yahweh your Elohim has blessed you.

⁸ When you build a new house, then you must make a parapet for your housetop so that you do not bring blood-guilt on your house in case someone falling from it might fall to death.

¹ This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of Elohim, blessed the sons of Israel before his death,

¹³ `Rise, sanctify the people, and you have said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in your midst, O Israel, you are not able to stand before your enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;"

³³ And Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they bury him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the hill-country of Ephraim.

¹ And it comes to pass, after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask at Yahweh, saying, `Who does go up for us unto the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?.

¹⁰ Riders on white asses--Sitters on a long robe--And walkers by the way--meditate! ¹¹ By the voice of shouters Between the places of drawing water, There they give out righteous acts of Yahweh, Righteous acts of His villages in Israel, Then ruled in the gates have the people of Yahweh.

¹⁴ And Yahweh turns unto him and said, `Go in this--your power; and you have saved Israel out of the hand of Midian--have not I sent you.. <sup>15</sup> And he said unto him, `O, my lord, wherewith do I save Israel? lo, my chief [is] weak in Manasseh, and I the least in the house of my father..

¹⁸ Move not, I pray You, from this, till my coming in unto You, and I have brought out my present, and put it before You;' and he said, `I--I do abide till your return..

⁴ and he has thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which [are] in the land of Gilead;"

¹⁵ And Manoah said unto the messenger of Yahweh, `Let us detain you, we pray you, and prepare before you a kid of the goats.. <sup>16</sup> And the messenger of Yahweh said unto Manoah, `If you detain me--I do not eat of your bread; and if you prepare a burnt-offering--to Yahweh you do offer it;' for Manoah has not known that He [is] a messenger of Yahweh. ¹⁷ And Manoah said unto the messenger of Yahweh, `What [is] your name? when your words come to pass, then we have honored you..

¹ And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Micah,

¹ And it comes to pass, in those days, when there is no king in Israel, that there is a man a Levite, a sojourner in the sides of the hill-country of Ephraim, and he takes to him a wife, a concubine, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah;"

²⁸ and he said unto her, `Rise, and we go;' and there is none answering, and he takes her on the ass, and the man rises and goes to his place,

⁴⁶ And all those falling of Benjamin are twenty and five thousand men drawing sword, on that day--the whole of these [are] men of valor;" ⁴⁷ and there turn and flee into the wilderness, unto the rock of Rimmon six hundred men, and they dwell in the rock Rimmon four months. ⁴⁸ And the men of Israel have turned back unto the sons of Benjamin, and smite them by the mouth of the sword out of the city, --men unto cattle, unto all that is found; also all the cities which are found they have sent into fire.

¹ And there is a certain man of Ramathaim-Zophim, of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Elkanah, son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, and Ephrathite,

⁵ and to Hannah he gives a certain portion--double, for he has loved Hannah, and Yahweh has shut her womb;"

²⁷ And there comes a man of Elohim unto Eli, and said unto him, `Thus said Yahweh, Was I really revealed unto the house of your father in their being in Egypt, before Pharaoh's house,

¹³ and I have declared to him that I am judging his house--to the eon, for the iniquity which he has known, for his sons are making themselves vile, and he has not restrained them,

¹⁹ And Samuel grows up, and Yahweh has been with him, and has not let fall any of his words to the earth;" ²⁰ and all Israel know, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, that Samuel is established for a prophet to Yahweh.

²⁰ And at the time of her death, when the women who are standing by her say, `Fear not, for a son you have borne,' she has not answered, nor set her heart [to it];"

¹⁷ and his returning [is] to Ramath, for there [is] his house, and there he has judged Israel, and he builds there an altar to Yahweh.

⁵ and say unto him, `Lo, you have become aged, and your sons have not walked in your ways; now, appoint to us a king, to judge us, like all the nations..

¹⁹ And the people refuse to hearken to the voice of Samuel, and say, `Nay, but a king is over us,

³ And the asses of Kish, father of Saul, are lost, and Kish said unto Saul his son, `Take, I pray you, with you, one of the young men, and rise, go, seek the asses..

¹⁷ When Samuel has seen Saul, then has Yahweh answered him, `Lo, the man of whom I have spoken unto you; this [one] does restrain My people..

¹ And Samuel takes the vial of the oil, and pours on his head, and kisses him, and said, `Is it not because Yahweh has appointed you over His inheritance for leader? ² In your going to-day from me--then you have found two men by the grave of Rachel, in the border of Benjamin, at Zelzah, and they have said unto you, The asses have been found which you have gone to seek; and lo, your father has left the matter of the asses, and has sorrowed for you, saying, What do I do for my son?

⁵ `Afterwards you do come unto the hill of Elohim, where the garrison of the Philistines [is], and it comes to pass, at your coming in thither to the city, that you have met a band of prophets coming down from the high place, and before them psaltery, and tabret, and pipe, and harp, and they are prophesying;"

²³ And they run and bring him thence, and he stationed himself in the midst of the people, and he is higher than any of the people from his shoulder and upward. ²⁴ And Samuel said unto all the people, `Have you seen him on whom Yahweh has fixed, for there is none like him among all the people?' And all the people shout, and say, `Let the king live!.

²⁷ and the sons of worthlessness have said, `What! this one does save us!' and they despise him, and have not brought to him a present; and he is as one deaf.

¹³ And, now, lo, the king whom you have chosen--whom you have asked! and lo, Yahweh has placed over you a king.

¹⁵ `And if you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh--then you have provoked the mouth of Yahweh, and the hand of Yahweh has been against you, and against your fathers.

⁵¹ and Kish [is] father of Saul, and Ner father of Abner [is] son of Ahiel.

¹ And Samuel said unto Saul, `Me did Yahweh send to anoint you for king over His people, over Israel; and now, hearken to the voice of the words of Yahweh.

¹⁶ And Samuel said unto Saul, `Desist, and I declare to you that which Yahweh has spoken unto me to-night;' and he said to him, `Speak.. ¹⁷ And Samuel said, `Are not you, if you [are] little in your own eyes, head of the tribes of Israel? and Yahweh does anoint you for king over Israel,

² And Samuel said, `How do I go? when Saul has heard, then he has slain me.' And Yahweh said, `A heifer of the herd you do take in your hand, and have said, To sacrifice to Yahweh I have come;" ³ and you have called for Jesse in the sacrifice, and I cause you to know that which you do do, and you have anointed to Me him of whom I speak unto you..

⁶ And it comes to pass, in their coming in, that he sees Eliab, and said, `Surely, before Yahweh [is] His anointed.. <sup>7</sup> And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Look not unto his appearance, and unto the height of his stature, for I have rejected him; for [it is] not as man sees--for man looks at the eyes, and Yahweh looks at the heart..

⁷ And Yahweh said unto Samuel, `Look not unto his appearance, and unto the height of his stature, for I have rejected him; for [it is] not as man sees--for man looks at the eyes, and Yahweh looks at the heart.. <sup>8</sup> And Jesse calls unto Abinadab, and causes him to pass by before Samuel; and he said, `Also on this Yahweh has not fixed.. ⁹ And Jesse causes Shammah to pass by, and he said, `Also on this Yahweh has not fixed.. <sup>10</sup> And Jesse causes seven of his sons to pass by before Samuel, and Samuel said to Jesse, `Yahweh has not fixed on these.. ¹¹ And Samuel said unto Jesse, `Are the youngest men finished?' and he said, `Yet has been left the young; and lo, he delights himself among the flock;' and Samuel said unto Jesse, `Send and take him, for we do not turn round till his coming in hither.. <sup>12</sup> And he sends, and brings him in, and he [is] ruddy, with beauty of eyes, and of good appearance; and Yahweh said, `Rise, anoint him, for this [is] he..

⁴ And there goes out a man of the duelists from the camps of the Philistines, Goliath [is] his name, from Gath; his height [is] six cubits and a span,

¹⁸ And David said unto Saul, `Who [am] I? and what my life--the family of my father in Israel--that I am son-in-law to the king?.

²³ And the servants of Saul speak in the ears of David these words, and David said, `Is it a light thing in your eyes to be son-in-law to the king--and I a poor man, and lightly esteemed?.

² And he said to him, `Far be it! you do not die; lo, my father does not do anything great or small and does not uncover mine ear; and wherefore does my father hide from me this thing? this [thing] is not..

³⁸ and Jonathan calls after the youth, `Speed, haste, stand not;' and Jonathan's youth gathers the arrows, and comes unto his lord. ³⁹ And the youth has not known anything, only Jonathan and David knew the word.

² And [there is] a man in Maon, and his work [is] in Carmel; and the man [is] very great, and he has three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats; and he is shearing his flock in Carmel.

²⁷ For You, Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel, You have uncovered the ear of Your servant, saying, A house I build for you, therefore has Your servant found his heart to pray unto You this prayer;"

² and it comes to pass, at evening-time, that David rises from off his couch, and walks up and down on the roof of the king's house, and sees from the roof a woman bathing, and the woman [is] of very good appearance,

²⁵ And like Absalom there was no man [so] fair in all Israel, to praise greatly; from the sole of his foot even unto his crown there was no blemish in him;" ²⁶ and in his polling his head--and it has been at the end of year by year that he polls [it], for it [is] heavy on him, and he has polled it--he has even weighed out the hair of his head--two hundred shekels by the king's weight.

³² and Barzillai [is] very aged, a son of eighty years, and he has sustained the king in his abiding in Mahanaim, for he [is] a very great man;"

⁶ As to the worthless--As a thorn driven away [are] all of them, For--not by hand are they taken;" ⁷ And the man who comes against them Is filled with iron and the staff of a spear, And with fire they are utterly burnt In the cessation..

¹¹ And David rises in the morning, and the word of Yahweh has been unto Gad the prophet, seer of David, saying,

² Only, the people are sacrificing in high places, for there has not been built a house for the name of Yahweh till those days. ³ And Solomon loves Yahweh, to walk in the statutes of David his father--only, in high places he is sacrificing and making perfume-. ⁴ and the king goes to Gibeon, to sacrifice there, for it [is] the great high place; a thousand burnt-offerings cause to ascend does Solomon on that altar.

¹ And lo, a man of Elohim has come from Judah, by the word of Yahweh, unto Beth-El, and Jeroboam is standing by the altar--to make perfume;"

³ and you have taken in your hand ten loaves, and crumbs, and a bottle of honey, and have gone in unto him; he does declare to you what becomes of the youth..

¹⁵ And Yahweh said unto him, `Go turn back on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and you have gone in, and anointed Hazael for king over Aram, ¹⁶ and Jehu son of Nimshi you do anoint for king over Israel, and Elisha son of Shaphat, of Abel-Meholah, you do anoint for prophet in your stead.

⁴² And a man has come from Baal-Shalishah, and brings in to the man of Elohim bread of first-fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in its husk, and he said, `Give to the people, and they eat..

⁵ And the king of Aram said, `Go you, enter, and I send a letter unto the king of Israel;' and he goes and takes in his hand ten talents of silver, and six thousand [pieces] of gold, and ten changes of garments.

¹³ And his servants come nigh, and speak unto him, and say, `My father, a great thing had the prophet spoken unto you--do you not do [it]? and surely, when he has said unto you, Wash, and be clean.. <sup>14</sup> And he goes down and dips in Jordan seven times, according to the word of the man of Elohim, and his flesh does turn back as the flesh of a little youth, and is clean. <sup>15</sup> And he turns back unto the man of Elohim, he and all his camp, and comes in, and stands before him, and said, `Lo, I pray you, I have known that there is not an Elohim in all the earth except in Israel; and now, take, I pray you, a blessing from your servant..

⁶ And the man of Elohim said, `Whither has it fallen?' and he shows him the place, and he cuts a stick, and casts thither, and causes the iron to swim,

⁸ And the king said unto Hazael, `Take in your hand a present, and go to meet the man of Elohim, and you have sought Yahweh by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?.

³ and taken the vial of oil, and poured on his head, and said, Thus said Yahweh, I have anointed you for king unto Israel; and you have opened the door, and fled, and do not wait.. ⁴ And the young man goes--the young man the prophet--to Ramoth-Gilead, ⁵ and comes in, and lo, chiefs of the force are sitting, and he said, `I have a word unto you, O chief!' and Jehu said, `Unto which of all of us?' and he said, `Unto you, O chief.. <sup>6</sup> And he rises and comes in to the house, and he pours the oil on his head, and said to him, `Thus said Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, I have anointed you for king unto the people of Yahweh, unto Israel,

¹³ And Yahweh testifies against Israel, and against Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and every seer, saying, `Turn back from your evil ways, and keep My commands, My statutes, according to all the law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent unto you by the hand of My servants the prophets;.

³⁰ and his son, the first-born, [is] Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab, ³¹ and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zacher;" ³² and Mikloth begat Shimeah. And they also over-against their brethren dwelt in Jerusalem with their brethren. ³³ And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchi-Shua, and Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.

²² All of those who are chosen for gatekeepers at the thresholds [are] two hundred and twelve; they [are] in their villages, by their genealogy; they whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their office.

³⁶ and his son, the first-born, [is] Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, ³⁷ and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. ³⁸ And Mikloth begat Shimeam, and they also, over-against their brethren, have dwelt in Jerusalem with their brethren. ³⁹ And Ner begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchi-Shua, and Abinadab, and Esh-Baal.

³⁹ and Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Yahweh, in a high place that [is] in Gibeon,

²⁸ and all that Samuel the seer, and Saul son of Kish, and Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah sanctified, every one sanctifying [any thing--it is] by the side of Shelomith and his brethren.

³ `And again, because of my delighting in the house of my Elohim, the substance I have--a peculiar treasure of gold and silver--I have given for the house of my Elohim, even over and above all I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary.

²⁹ And the matters of David the king, the first and the last, lo, they are written beside the matters of Samuel the seer, and beside the matters of Nathan the prophet, and beside the matters of Gad the seer,

⁷ And at that time has Hanani the seer come in unto Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, `Because of your leaning on the king of Aram, and you have not leaned on Yahweh your Elohim, therefore has the force of the king of Aram escaped from your hand.

¹⁰ And Asa is angry at the seer, and gives him to the house of torture, for [he is] in a rage with him for this; and Asa oppresses [some] of the people at that time.

¹⁶ And the people go out, and bring in, and make for themselves booths, each on his roof, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of Elohim, and in the broad place of the water-gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.

¹⁹ And it comes to pass, when the gates of Jerusalem have been dark before the sabbath, that I speak, and the doors are shut, and I say, that they do not open them till after the sabbath; and of my servants I have stationed at the gates; there does not come in a burden on the sabbath-day.

²⁵ And I strive with them, and declare them vile, and smite certain of them, and pluck off their hair, and cause them to swear by Elohim, `You do not give your daughters to their sons, nor do you take of their daughters to your sons, and to yourselves.

³ and his acquisitions came to be a flock of seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred pair of oxen and five hundred jennies, besides very many servants. And this man came to be the greatest of all the sons of the East.

¹⁶ Then He reveals matters to the ear of men, And He dismays them with admonitions,

¹⁴ The intimacy of Yahweh is for those fearing Him, And His covenant, to give them knowledge."

¹⁸ Meet my humiliation and my toil, And bear away all my sins."

¹⁰ Do not trust in extortion, And in pillage, do not place vain hope; Though your estate be producing, do not set your heart on it."

²⁷ There Benjamin the junior is holding sway over them, The chiefs of Judah and their great foregathering. The chiefs of Zebulun, the chiefs of Naphtali."

⁴⁴ Yet He saw their distress, On His hearing of their appeal,

¹⁰ For Yahweh has libated on you a spirit of stupor. And He is restraining your eyes, that is, the prophets, and your heads, the vision seers, He covers."

¹⁰ who say to the seers, "You shall not direct us!And to the vision seers, "You shall not perceive correctives for us! Speak to us slick things, perceive trifles."

²⁶ setting up the word of His servant, and performing the counsel of His messengers. Saying to Jerusalem, `You shall be indwelt,' and to the cities of Judah, `You shall be built,' and `Its deserted places I will raise up.'"

²³ Thus said Yahweh:Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his riches,

¹³ and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, have been--as the place of Tophet--defiled, even all the houses on whose roofs they have made perfume to all the host of the heavens, so as to pour out oblations to other elohims.'"

⁴ To gather its pieces unto it, every good piece, Thigh and shoulder, the choice of the bones to fill in."

¹ When Ephraim spoke, it was an edict. He was lifted up in Israel. Yet he is being guilty with regard to Baal and is dying."

¹¹ I am giving you a king in My anger, and I am taking him away in My rage."

⁷ For my Lord Yahweh is not doing a thing save He reveals His deliberation to His servants, the prophets."

¹² And Amaziah is saying to Amos, Vision-seer, go! Run your way to the land of Judah, and there eat your bread, and there you shall prophesy."

⁵ Your forefathers, where are they? And the prophets, are they living for the eon? ⁶ Yea, My words and My statutes, which you have received, which I instruct, by My spirit, My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your forefathers? And they are turning away and are saying:Just as Yahweh of hosts plans to do to us, as fits our ways and our actions, so He does with us."

²⁵ Therefore I am saying to you, Do not worry about you soul, what you may be eating, or what you may be drinking, nor yet about your body, what you should be putting on. Is not the soul more than nourishment, and the body than apparel?

²⁸ And why are you worrying about apparel? Study the anemones of the field, how they are growing. Not toiling are they, nor yet are they spinning."

³⁴ You should not, then, be worrying about the morrow, for the morrow will be worrying of itself. Sufficient for the day is its own evil."

²⁷ What I am saying to you in the darkness, say in the light. And what you hearing in the ear, herald on the housetops."

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall be passing by, yet My words may by no means be passing by."

²⁶ Now at their eating, Jesus, taking the bread, and blessing, breaks it, and, giving to the disciples, said, "Take, eat. This is My body."

⁴¹ And taking the five cakes of bread and the two fishes, looking up into heaven, He blesses and breaks up the cakes of bread, and gave to His disciples, that they may be placing them before them. And the two fishes He parts to all."

² and He is saying to them, "Go into the village facing you, and straightway, going into it, you will be finding a colt, bound, on which not as yet any man is seated. Loose it and bring it." ³ And if anyone should be saying to you, 'What is this you are doing?' say that 'The Lord has need of it, and straightway He is dispatching it here again.'" ⁴ And they came away and found the colt bound to the door outside on the encircling road, and they are loosing it."

¹³ And He is dispatching two of His disciples and is saying to them, "Go into the city, and a man will be meeting you, bearing a jar of water. Follow him." ¹⁴ And wheresoever he may be entering, say to the householder that 'The Teacher is saying, "Where is My caravansary, where I may be eating the passover with My disciples?'" ¹⁵ And he will be showing you a large upper room, ready with places spread, and there make ready for us." ¹⁶ And His disciples came out and came into the city, and they found it according as He said to them. And they make ready the passover."

¹¹ Now whenever they may be bringing you before the synagogues and the chiefs and the authorities, you should not be worrying about how or what your defense should be or what you may say,

²² Now He said to His disciples, "Therefore I am saying to you, Do not worry about the soul, what you may be eating, nor yet about your body, what you should be putting on,

¹⁰ But, whenever you may be invited, going, lean back in the last place, that whenever he who has invited you may be coming, he will be declaring to you, 'Friend, step further up.' Then glory will be yours in the sight of all those lying back at table with you." ¹¹ For everyone exalting himself shall be humbled, and humbling himself shall be exalted."

³⁰ And it occurred, at His reclining at table with them, taking the bread, He blesses it, and, breaking, He handed it to them."

²³ Now John also was baptizing in Enon near Salim, for there was much water there, and they came along and were baptized,

²⁹ Hither! Perceive a Man Who told me all whatever I do. Is not this the Christ?

¹¹ Jesus, then, took the bread, and, giving thanks, He distributes it to those lying back. Likewise also of the food fish, as much as they wanted."

²³ But boats out of Tiberias came near the place where they ate the bread for which the Lord gave thanks.

¹⁴ You are My friends, if you should be doing whatever I am directing you." ¹⁵ No longer am I terming you slaves, for the slave is not aware what his lord is doing. Yet I have declared you friends, for all that I hear from My Father I make known to you."

⁹ Now, on the morrow, as they are journeying and drawing near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray about the sixth hour of the day."

²¹ And thence they request a king, and God gives them Saul, son of Kish, a man out of the tribe of Benjamin, forty years."

²³ For there stood beside me this night a messenger of God, Whose I am, to Whom I am offering divine service also,

³ for magistrates are not a fear to the good act, but to the evil. Now you do not want to be fearing the authority. Do good, and you will be having applause from it." ⁴ For it is God's servant for your good. Now if you should be doing evil, fear, for not feignedly is it wearing the sword. For it is God's servant, an avenger for indignation to him who is committing evil."

⁷ Clean out, then, the old leaven, that you may be a fresh kneading, according as you are unleavened. For our Passover also, Christ, was sacrificed for our sakes" ⁸ so that we may be keeping the festival, not with old leaven, nor yet with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with unleavened sincerity and truth."

³⁰ If I, with gratitude, am partaking, why am I being calumniated for that for which I am giving thanks?

²⁵ The hidden things of his heart are becoming apparent, and thus, falling on his face, he will be worshiping God, reporting that God really is among you."

⁸ To me, less than the least of all saints, was granted this grace: to bring the evangel of the untraceable riches of Christ to the nations,

² Be disposed to that which is above, not to that on the earth,

¹⁰ You are witnesses, and God, how benignly and justly and blamelessly we became to you who are believing,

¹³ and to deem them exceedingly distinguished in love, because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves."

⁴ seeing that every creature of God is ideal and nothing is to be cast away, being taken with thanksgiving,

¹¹ Now you, O man of God, flee from these things: yet pursue righteousness, devoutness, faith, love, with endurance, suffering, and meekness."
